I'm not sure why the ratings here are so low, this is my go to Indian place! Granted I only ever order the Chicken Tikka Masala and plain Naan anytime and anywhere I get Indian! I have never been disappointed here, the Chicken Tikka Masala sauce is creamy, spicy, and delicious. The chicken is tender and well cooked. I do prefer to dine in rather than order delivery because you have more control over the spice level that way. Dining in, they always have speedy service which is appreciated since I am usually ravenous when I come. For delivery, they are also speedy but I live about a 10 minute drive away. Wow! I had the Coconut Curry with Salmon - it was amazing! Salmon was cooked perfectly. Since I visited on a Wednesday at lunch, they had a buffet for $8.75. The food on the buffet looked good, but I opted for an entree since I have a nut allergy and that was the safer choice. Overall though, the food is pretty pricey (compared to the many Indian restaurants in Wallingford). Restaurant was pretty quite. My server could have been friendlier, but I think she was new and training. When I took some of my food to go, the server did offer to get me more rice to take with (which I thought was a nice little extra thing he didn't have to do). I typically like my food spicy, but not so spicy that I can't taste the flavors. I got level 2 and it was NOT spicy at all! Would maybe even do level 4 (out if 6) next time. read more

I had dinner here a few years ago and was glad to see that were still in business. I was looking forward to trying their buffet, but due to Covid, they couldn't do it. They did have a lunchbox selection instead so I tried the Chicken Korma with Saag Paneer and it came with rice as well as some naan. The food was tasty and ample portions. There was enough to take back to the hotel for dinner and enjoy it twice! read more

We ordered a couple of appetizers, kofta curry as entree, and some rotis. The appetizers had very little salt and no chaat masala. We had to ask for both on the side. The sizzling veggies were wet with sauce instead of being dry with seasonings and spices. For the kofta curry that we had ordered for takeout, they put the kofta together with the curry instead of packing them separately. As a result by the time we ate it, the koftas had become all soggy. Finally, the rotis were all burnt. I understand that restaurants in Seattle area do not typically make great Indian food, but there is no excuse to get basic things so wrong. read more

Love that this place is so thorough about gluten cross contamination. They even have gluten free naan that's cooked in a separate oven from the tandoor. As a celiac it's hard to find places that you can trust, but this seems to be one of them. Oh! But they do serve gluten *removed* beer, which is not acceptable for very sensitive individuals, so heads up! Love how convenient this place is. They're currently just doing outdoor seating and I haven't had issues with it yet. Employees are wearing masks. That could change with the upcoming phase change though :) read more

Out of the many places I have tried around town, Chutneys has my favorite Korma so delicious.

These guys brought back their lunch buffet after (much of) the pandemic, as they had before it.  Some dishes were good, others not so good -- both then and now.  Overall, a takeable deal. Until now, when they ended buffet service without changing their buffet advertisement on their  Web site.  I patently don't buy from those who advertise falsely, so, no, I was not interested in a menu order after walking in today and finding no buffet. It's the restaurants who are consistently good who get the menu orders.  So it's not clear where these guys go now, if anywhere at all, given that Seattle has both excellent restaurants of all types and a buying public who knows the difference. read more

We got the tandoori mixed grill, Chicken,lamb and shrimp and "mixed vegetables". To be fair this photo was taken after I removed two drumsticks. However while it tasted OK, it was a little disappointing. If I had known that "mixed vegetables" really meant a whole bunch of sliced onions with two small slices of peppers I would have ordered something else. Also, "shrimp" generally is used to describe plural shrimp. The vagaries of the English language are on their side however since it is true that we were served "shrimp". As in a single shrimp. It was chewy. All in all I won't order from this place again, though they do a good buffet in normal times. read more

Came here for the first time and the first thing that I saw is the attractive entry with a water feature and then entering this very dim bistro bar with many booths. The staff are very friendly and responsive. But the food is not as authentic as I thought it would be. We ordered Tikka masala and butter chicken, our dish just had too much tomato paste in there where you could not taste the spices, we ordered a 3 star and a no star, if you like the tomato taste then a no star is good for you but if you like a little spice order a 3 star bit without the taste of the spices you are craving for. This isn't a bad place but not good. People are ordering like crazy here so it might take longer if your dinning in. read more

I don't know if other people had this issue, but Chutney's postmates, google, and doordash info isn't up to date. I ordered on Postmates and selected pick up. The address indicated on Postmates (1100 Pike St) took me to a location in Capitol Hill, Seattle Tattoo Emporium. I then drove to their Queen Anne location, 519 1st Ave N. That Chutneys was permanently closed. There was no phone number for this Chutney's location listed on Postmates, so I called their Bellevue location and the man working told me the only two locations that exist are in Wallingford and Bellevue. At this point I was frustrated the address led me to a tattoo parlor, that my food was ready but I was nowhere near it. Granted the real Wallingford address is listed here on Yelp, but I ordered on Postmates and trusted their address was correctly listed on the app. Postmates charges you if you cancel after their cancellation window. I had to go through customer service to get my money back, which was a headache in itself. Just know if you're ordering from doordash/postmates, their address is NOT 1100 Pike st or 519 1st Ave N. If you see the 519 1st Ave Queen Anne location marked permanently closed on google maps, you have my boyfriend and I to thank for driving around looking for our dinner because we promptly reported it closed when we got home food-less. I love to come here for happy hour, 4-8, because their mango margaritas are delicious! They also serve some decent wine, and if you order three happy hour appetizers, you'll be set for dinner.I like the veggie samosas, chicken pakoras and paneer pakoras. And after that I'm stuffed. The decor is really nice and they have an organic menu. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm very curious. For lunch! $11 all you can eat buffet. I have eaten here a number of times during lunch, and have been impressed each time by the food. You have a number of delicious options: my favorites are the beef meatballs and chicken legs! They also have very tender and juicy chicken curry to serve over your rice! They have decent deserts for the taking also. The rice pudding and mango pudding satisfy my sweet tooth every time. The service is decent, water is always refilled before it gets below halfway, and the checks come in a timely fashion without asking. Came here to satisfy the I-haven't-eaten-yet-and-I'm-getting-angry" hunger, hence, Indian food for breakfast, but we were here around lunch time. The place is pretty fancy feeling with a fully stocked bar. (If anyone from the LBC is reading this, it reminded me of Eclipse back in the day). We had the option to eat from the buffet, but they never have vindaloo anything according to the bf, so we ordered from the menu. We both love lamb, so the bf got the lamb vindaloo and I ordered lamb biryani. For an appetizer, we opted for the calamari which turned out to be the best calamari either one of us has ever eaten! I don't know my Indian food spices at all, but whatever was in the batter just made the those rings of rubbery squid taste heavenly! Our entrees, too, were bomb! They were served in the typical little family-style copper pots, but there was really no sharing between us cuz I turn up the heat on my food and the bf get his stuff mild. He, however, remarked that more often than not, restaurants fail to find his idea of mild. The chef that day found it. This was the 2nd time I had ever had biryani and I loved it. We also tried the spinach, which was interestingly delicious. I would like to come here some time for dinner and see what the night-time vibe is like. It was pretty chill during a Saturday day. Went for the weekend brunch buffet. Was very happy with the selection and overall quality (for the price.) Some standard dishes (butter and tandoori chicken, korma, naan, dal) and some you wouldn't expect (poached eggs, excellent cabbage slaw, lots of grilled fresh veggies.) There was also lots of desserts, orange juice, yummy dipping sauces, and other items to round out an affordable all you can eat brunch. Service was very good... Me and my mom had chicken tikka masala and chicken jalfrezi and they were both amazing!

Hated it. They have one sauce they use for every single dish. That sounds wonderful! The mango chicken was quite fascinating. A butter chicken with a fruit salad on the side. WHY?! We got a chicken curry and asked for it to be spicy. Spicy doesn't mean that the spices are left uncooked. Spices DO NOT serve that purpose. The Biriyani had to be sent back. Service is bad. And when you pay $23-$24 for a meal, it shouldn't be this bad. Really. Give people what they pay for! People work hard for their money and they are giving it to you in exchange for a good meal. Over the last 8 months or so, my partner and I have ordered from this place 4 times. It used to be our favorite to order from for a few years. In the past we never had issues with our orders being wrong, late, or cancelled. The 4 times we have ordered from them these last 8 months, nothing but issues. One time we waited for 2 hours and suddenly they cancelled our order. It was almost 9pm. Just cancelled it. It was too late for us to order elsewhere- we work early and neither rod us had a chance to eat since before the start of our shifts. Another time, again an overly long wait and when we FINALLY got the food they had made it SO inedible hot. Everything we ordered was far far too hot for us. We are no wimps with spice, either! (My mom sends us ghost pepper enchilada sauce every year she makes it). Tonight, we ordered again. Giving it one last chance. 2 hours of waiting. Our delivery driver sitting at the restaurant the entire time. I call Chutneys and ask what's going on with our order since we had been waiting so long and our delivery driver had been waiting. He said the delivery guy just picked it up and left just now. I said "ok no problem no worries! I'm sure you guys must be busy." trying to give the benefit of the doubt. He hangs up. Wait again for another almost 30 minutes and when my partner checked the app, the delivery driver still had not left. He contacted the delivery service and indeed, this driver had not left and was still waiting. (No idea why but good on him I suppose). I call Chutneys again. I say "so I called a while ago about my order. You never got the name on it but said it had already left. The delivery guy has been waiting." His response "it left it was picked up, call the delivery service it's on them." I say back "we did contact the service and no, it has not been picked up, and how would you know anyhow if you're so busy and also never got the name on the order?" "Ok what's the name?" I give him the name and he says hold on a moment I'll check. On hold 5 minutes and then was hung up on. I call back and he answers. "I just called. I was hung up on." "Oh yeah I asked they said the order for **** was already picked up a long long time ago. It's gone." He only asked for the first name in the order-and it's a common name. "It wasn't picked up and how would you know if you ONLY asked by first name on the order? How do you know another **** didn't grab it? Do you know the last name I just gave you?" "No, can you repeat it again?" I do and he says "I'll check again but it's gone but I'll check." On hold.... And again hung up on a minute later. The app shows the driver FINALLY had the order. When we got the order, it was barely room temp. The yogurt sauce was questionable by that point as well having sat on a counter for over 2 hours next to hot food. So it sat there and sat there and the delivery guy asked, they said not ready. I called and he first lied about it being taken JUST THEN and then lied about it being taken a "long long time ago"... Extra bonus here was- the food was not even remotely close to how it used to taste even a few months ago. It all tasted a bit "off" is the only way I can really describe it. Like some aspect (of the tikka in particular) tasted spoiled. Very strange transaction and again this is 4th strike, you're out. We tried and really really wanted it to still be a favorite of ours. Not like ordering from there is cheap and is often after I have had an extra extra stressful day (medical workers). Covid was HARD on the food industry, so a Yelp review could make or break a place. Neither of us create frivolously negative reviews. The ball was dropped too many times and had they not lied to us... who knows... we may have been willing to try them yet again maybe a year from now... and I'd probably not be writing this Yelp even though part of the food tasted like it may have been made with spoiled ingredients. read more
