Lunch buffet

Good food. We really like the lunch buffet. Friendly staff. Free parking lot. Good for groups and families.

Lassi
Tiffany T.

Service here was 10/10! Everyone was very kind and really friendly. The Lassi was a perfect sweet and tart. It reminded me of a Vietnamese yogurt treat that I really enjoyed when I was younger. The meal we got was a little pricey and when they bring it out it doesn't look like much but it ended up being the perfect amount for me and my partner since I personally don't like leftovers and usually cannot finish the entire meal. He ended up finishing his meal and part of mine. In terms of flavor, I thought it was really good! The flavor was just right. The only thing I wish we had more of was spiciness. I got a middle of the road spice level and my boyfriend got the spiciest but it didn't really feel that spicy. The place was nicely decorated and well lit and there were plenty of tables and spaces for large groups of people. I would recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area! Ask for some extra spice if you like spicy!

Daal Soup
Dominique D.

Takeout for lunch: boneless chicken tikka masala (comes with basmati rice) $21, and a side of daal soup $8. I ordered to tikka masala with a 4/6 spice level and was disappointed when there was no spice at all. The sauce is creamy and tasty, but was very mild in spice. The chicken was bland as well. The basmati rice portion was generous, which I loved. But the rice itself was bland and tasted of the water it was cooked in. The daal soup is small for $8, but had plenty of lentils. The downside is that the soup was also bland and lacked and spice, salt, aromatics, etc. Just tasted like a basic tomato base so I added fresh lemon juice and salt myself. This is disappointing because daal soup is my favorite dish! Overall, the takeout service was quick. The staff was very friendly! But the food was just okay. Had to give it a try since it's the closest Indian food in the Wallingford area.

was in the area looking for a quick bite to eat, and stumbled upon chutney's. the restaurant had a good atmosphere, seemed clean as well. customer service was great, all the waiters were super nice and welcoming. we went when it wasn't too busy but i was still pleasantly surprised by how fast our food came out, about 10 minutes. every dish was really yummy, and i didn't think they were big portions, however looks can be deceiving. a little bit pricey compared to other places ive been, but still very good. can't say much about the buffet since we had a la carte but id love to come back and see how it is.

AMAZING service and food ‍ we came a little late, when dining was closed, but takeout was still available and I cannot say enough good things about how friendly and generous the Chutneys staff was. They gave us water, paper plates so we could still eat our takeout in the courtyard, and were so nice. We got butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, rice, and garlic naan. Everything was piping hot and mind blowing it was so good. The restaurant is so cute too. I'd recommend Chutneys to anyone looking for a great restaurant experience with decadent and delightful Indian food!

I love Taste of India! It's probably my favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle. I've been dining…read morehere for years and it has never disappointed me. They have good customer service, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, delicious food, and generous portions. The only negative I could think of is the parking, but I've always been lucky finding street parking. My favorite go-to dishes are Tikka Masala (protein: usually with Lamb) with Rice, Butter Masala (protein: usually with Chicken) with Rice, Spinach-Paneer Naan Bread, and Mango Lassi to drink. A bonus is they typically give you a complimentary plate of Potato Samosas as a starter. Check out this neighborhood-style, casual Indian restaurant the next time you are in the University District of Seattle. While you're in the area, down the street from Taste of India is another amazing business to check out and support-- Scarecrow Video! They have been in business since 1988 and they have the largest collection of physical media (currently, surpassing over 155,000) available to rent!!!

I'm not sure what happened on my last visit as the curries were on the colder side. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult, there is a small parking lot out front, if that's full you'll need to find street park. The restaurant itself feels warm, casual, and bustling. Queen you walk in you have the option to sit on the backyard patio or in the dining room. We opted to sit in the dining room as it just felt more intimate and the vibe we were wanting for dinner. For our appetizer, we started with the Samosas (Two crispy pastries filled with your choice of freshly mixed vegetables or delicately spiced lean ground beef) which were excellent. Next we ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. The naan and samosas showed up piping hot but the chicken tikka masala & butter chicken were cold. I probably should have said something as I was disappointed but was too hungry to care at that moment. If I'm in the Seattle area I may stop by Taste of India again.

It was pretty quick service and price are sooo much more reasonable than other food trucks nearby. The line was long but it moved pretty quickly. The portion might look small but it was hefty. I got the lamb kebab roll and the bhel puri. Flavor was spot on. They were addicting. The lamb was stuffed in the roll and it was soft and very easy to eat. Definitely want to try soft serve as it looks sooo good on their social media page. I definitely want to check out their store eventually but for now, food truck it is!

I thought the lamb and chicken were really tasty, and each had a distinct combination of flavors. They pack a good amount of meat and sauce in there, so even though each individual roll is not huge, it feels really hearty. I agree with their guidance that you should get two rolls if you're hungry. The one thing that I think is missing a bit from the rolls is a crunchy element. They have some diced red onion in there but not that much. I think I'd like the rolls even better if they had more of a crunchy vegetable in there for textural variation, but it's still quite good. Will definitely be back to try some of their snacks.

It was a dark atmosphere for dinner and a little chilly indoors. Sides tried: Roti and Raita Traditional Indian food with little twists and turns along the way. The raita had pomegranate seeds in it which added a pop in your mouth but the flavor was pretty mild. Rotti was thin and crispy and chickpea-based. Great vessel for any of the other foods. The paneer do pyaza was my favorite dish of the night. That with the raita I think I could eat every day ! I just love the tomato-based sauce with the buttery basmati rice and the soft, salty cheese. The lamb was tasty and cooked well done. Even so it wasn't overly hard to chew or cut. Potatoes and veg on the side were nice and soft. The dessert was a surprise ! It was a texture in between yogurt and hummus with tons of different flavors. Definitely never had something like that before and is worth a try when you visit. Overall, the food was good, but for something $$$ I do not think the changes to the traditional dishes added much flavor or experience to them. I wish the flavors were bolder (sauces and food) and that the food was even a tad bit spicy !
