This review is for the location on Painter location across the DMV, conveniently located next to a taco truck. We came here on a Saturday. Ordered #1 and #4. The churros were made fresh and they offer free cafe de olla on the weekends. #4 with cajeta-fresa, lechera are for those who love extra sweet things so if you don't mind have a nice heaping of sugar on your churros, definitely try this. The churrero was also very nice and answered all of our questions. read more

Right off the 605 freeway, there's a row of street vendors and food trucks, and Churros Don Abel is one of the standouts. We arrived around 8:00 p.m., and there was already a line and for good reason. The churros are delicious, fresh, and not stale at all. The perfect crunch on the outside and the soft middle. I even had one the next morning, and it was still amazing. The only downside is that you can't order the cajeta or lechera on the side. We wanted to take everything home and eat later, but having the toppings added on top made the churros soggy. If you're planning to eat them right away, it wouldn't be an issue. Another small frustration was that they had handwritten signs posted advertising arroz con leche and champurrado, but when we tried to order, we were told they didn't have either. If items are no longer available, those signs should really be taken down to avoid confusion. Overall, still a great stop for fresh, delicious churros. read more

If I can give it 0 stars I would. Very disappointed, first waited around 15-20min, the churros were extremely dry and hard. I provided a picture below. Wasted 15 dollars because I had to throw the bag they were not enjoyable very hard to chew on. Tried to give them a chance again and got disappointed. Will not be coming back and will NOT be recommending. I do NOT recommend. read more

Seriously? I ordered a strawberry churro. I'm handed a skinny ass churro. I take a bite expecting to taste the strawberry filling.. and nothing! Moments later, the lady brings out a little cup containing strawberry filling. I asked why isn't the filling inside. She answered as she was walking away, so I didn't understand. So here I was dipping the taquito sized churro on a cup of filling. Don Abel do better! Times are hard and for $4.00, I expected a strawberry filled churro!! read more

Was craving churros and wanted to find a new place to try. I've seen the truck before but hadn't tried it until today. on atlantic and Del Amo in Long beach. My dad was craving this specific churros so we went and saw that they now have a big food truck that you can see how they make the churros in the transparent glass. It was just a grab and go kind of thing. The line was long but service was fast. Another plus is that they give out free coffee or chocolate drink I think that you can just grab while you wait for your order or when you are standing in line. read more

Some of the best churros I've had. They have cafe de olla too. The best combination. Service is great. Lots of parking. read more

Churros Don Abel is our go to when we are craving something sweet. We would first visit their first location in East LA (Commerce Center) and once they set up in Whittier (Pioneer HS) we would go here as it was much closer to us. Parking is WAY better too! The churros are always fresh; they are warm, crunchy outside with a soft inside, just delicious! Tonight, we also ordered Platanos Fritos (fried plantains) and they were tasty! They do offer free cafe de olla on the weekends, and today's batch was great. We also ordered a chocomilk (en bolsita) and it was delicious; you could smell and taste the banana that was blended into it. Their staff were friendly and they provided quick service too. Our order was out pretty quick. Will continue to come and support this business as long as they remain consistent with their churros, coffee, and customer service. read more

Love this churro truck. Perfect for a late night snack. The churros are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside ! Ready within minutes and ALWAYS warm. I usually get the #1: 10 churros for $13. The churros are full length which is AMPLE for 2-3 people. Sometimes we will order more when having people over the house for a fun snack/dessert. The cafe de olla is free- a nice touch on a chilly night. read more

Fresh made churros made on the side of the road in a truck. What is there not to love? On certain days they offer free hot café de olla, and you can pour as much as you want too! The people are nice, and the service is pretty quick for churros that's fried in front of you. read more

These churros are always hot and fresh. We'll drive an hour from our house just to get these. The service is always friendly. There's free cafe de olla on the weekends. Area is clean and organized. Love love love these churros. They even reheat well in the air fryer the next day. read more

Not sure what psychopath would say Disneyland churro's are better than Don Abel. This is hands down the best churros I've ever tasted. Plus, one Disneyland churros cost about 5 of these, so what's the argument here? It's crispy on the outside, soft and almost mochi-texture like on the inside. It's made fresh every time. What I don't like it's probably how late they open. Sometimes I'd like to have a churro with my morning coffee. read more

The taste of this Churros are delicious and their make to order and unfortunately it does take time when you're placing an order. If you come through the weekend it's understandable there's a big lines specially, on Fridays I have had the opportunity to try this Churros multiple times can deny there are a bit oily but overall the taste fresh. I love supporting small businesses specially, when their mom and Pop shop you cant deny when someone is ordering approximately a large quantities the wait time could be a bit l but it's quite understandable. This place does get a little pack but you won't regret it how they taste after that. If you're picky on greasy you can just tell him to not put the sugar and try it with damping and napkin and removing the oil for overall they're quite tasty and worth it. read more

Finally found the time to try their churros and they were worth the trip. Piping hot, fresh from the fryer... and WOW! These reminded me of that one churro street vendor in Puerto Vallarta. There were no lines when I went coz they just opened so can't complain about the wait time. I would definitely return during a weekend so that I can also taste their complimentary cafe de olla. Overall, I recommend Don Abel's for your churro fix. read more

This is for the LB location. Wait time was over 30 min, and there was not a long line of people, maybe 2-3 customers ahead of us; just a slow process. They kept calling a Joel, and unfortunately we must have been next up after that person and must have gotten his batch because our small bag of churros were COLD!!!! And you could taste the oil. Wait time plus slow service made this a 2-star experience. And NO they are NOT better than Disneyland Churros. In fact no better than the authentic churrero on the corner with the big cazo. And those come out FAST and HOT off the press. It's a no more me. #lukewarmchurros #overrated read more

Went a while back and it was a man there with a lady taking orders. Ordered what I thought was the churros prepared with cajeta and when I got my order it was only plain churros. I asked the man if they could add the cajeta and he looked at me rude & annoyingly added cajeta to my churros while very rudely telling me "pa la otra ordenalo asi!" and pointed at the menu that showed the churros with cajeta. I was so caught off guard by how rude he spoke to me, that I didn't even get to explain that I thought that was what I ordered. I wasn't trying to get anything for free and I literally even had $5 cash ready to tip after I ordered to put in the tip jar after receiving my order. Even after he was extremely rude to me I still showed him the $5 and put it in the tip jar as a way to show him that I wasn't taking advantage or trying to get anything for free. Because of this incident I never returned. I love supporting my community, but that man was SO hostile, it was unbelievable. read more

Woke up at 4 am in the morning just to throw up all the churros i ate! Please people avoid going here for churros not a good idea. read more

These churros are for sure worth the hype! We drove to the address on here but it took us to a house. I recommend going to their instagram to find the closest truck to you. These are the best as far as everything you want in a churro goes: very crunchy on the outside and soft and airy in the inside, I like that they're not doughy and they have a great flavor. The small order was more than enough for 4 of us they give you SO many. The truck we went to also had other venders around it so it was cool to check those out as well. The truck was clean inside and they had everything organized. They also had fried plantains and different sauces for those we tried all the sauces as well as the cajeta to dip the churros. read more

I'm thankful that they post up here now as opposed to having to drive all the way to Los Angeles to get some of this deliciousness . The churros made here as simply the best in my opinion , I've only had comparable ones in Tijuana and these are just amazing, the oil is clean , they are made on the spot and so no question about it, these are the best churros known to me at least . Churros Don Abel - The truck - Desserts Near Me

My husband and I frequently passed by this place, and we'd see a considerable crowd of people gathered. After looking it on Yelp, we saw all the positive reviews and wanted to check it out. Y'all, this place's churros are BOMB. We just grabbed a small bag, and it was freshly made and piping hot. I loved how the dough was cooked crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. I've had churros that are too dry, and I've had churros that were mushy to the point of tasting undercooked, but these were excellent. My husband commented that they were the best churros he's ever eaten. We to-go'ed some bags for my parents and his parents. They were all raving about it as well. read more

Located in front of Pioneer High on Pioneer Blvd! I'm so excited since I work just five minutes away!! The OG location is close to my house so double win win. They open around 2PM and there are other food trucks in the area too. Of course you gotta try the churros with the winning combination of sauces: cajeta, lechera, and fresca! They make them fresh and piping hot. Texture is lighter and a slightly chewier version of your traditional churros. I'm currently eating mine while writing this review haha! Support them and don't forget to leave tip! read more

Best churros in Southern California. Served hot and fresh. Recently tried El Moro in Costa Mesa and it does not compare to Don Abel.
