It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. FOOD - 4 stars...succulent poultry with a unique spicy kick AMBIANCE - 4 stars...like an old-fashioned dining room in a Portuguese home SERVICE - 4.5 stars...they move quickly and courteously TOTAL - 4 stars...a Lisbon institution worth checking out RELATED - Exploring Lisbon? What's the hype?! We…read morewent on a weekday night and it was full but not packed. We were first in line and seated immediately. A small line of one or two groups at a time formed throughout the night. We were seated outside and there was a street performer with an acoustic guitar - def added some great vibes to the night. It was a chilly December night but the heater provided *just enough* warmth. We ordered the codfish cakes which were alright - nothing too special. Since it was a little cold out, I also ordered the chicken broth. It was bland, but good in its own way. There was some rice and chicken bits in it that tasted really good. The rotisserie chicken that they are known for was EXTREMELY salty. We were a group of 6 and ordered 2.5 rotisserie chicken (so 5 pieces) but this was actually way too much. It's a little better (but still salty) if you don't eat the skin, but that's the best part given how crispy it was! I tried to drown out the saltiness by using the piri piri sauce and it helped a little bit... but biting into the chicken meant biting into the undissolved salt bits. Given how salty it was, we could not finish it at all and left behind 3 pieces. Service itself was meh. They made sure to inform us that the tip was not included in the bill.

We are Piri Piri Chicken fans from the US and were dying to try some in Lisbon. Without planning,…read morewe happened upon Cucurico when stopping by the LX Factory. At the time I write this, they are fairly new. We were seated outdoors, where they have tables in the back of the restaurant. We ordered wine, I had 1/2 chicken, my wife had a chicken breast, and we ordered slaw, beans and rice, and fries as sides. The service was great and the food came out quickly. They asked if we wanted our chicken mild or spicy, and we asked for spicy. I wouldn't say the chicken was spicy when it arrived but they serve it with sides of Piri Piri sauce, which when the chicken was dipped in it, did the trick. The 1/2 chicken is a nice sized portion for someone who is hungry. I know US Chickens are genetically bred to be larger and it isn't the same in the EU, so I expected it to be a good size for me, and it was. The sides were also very good. And, since my wife couldn't finish hers, I ate the rest of the breast before we left. We were quite pleased with the quality and taste of the food, and the service was excellent. It was a great experience.

We also ordered the chicken breast and popcorn chicken sandwich. For sides we had corn, garlic bread, and potato wedges. Everything was delicious. Our server spoke English and was very friendly. I would definitely come back.

The game was on when I visited and that seemed to draw a crowd, so it was packed. Seemed to get even busier after 8. Service was friendly and the prices are super reasonable for huge portions. From the menu, it's not exactly clear what the platters come with, but my chicken platter came with salad, fries, and rice, which was perfect. I also ordered couvert (bread, olives, oil) and cheese, plus wine. Everything was delicious. Though I'm fairly sure this is not a piri-piri spot, I asked for pepper (was looking for ground black pepper for my salad) and received piri-piri sauce and was overjoyed. I loved the chicken. The skin was crispy and flavorful but not super oily. I couldn't finish everything. If you need a fast-casual spot or some takeaway (I think they are on Uber Eats, too), this is a great option.

You'd be hard pressed to find another place in Cascais/Estoril to eat for 10€ per person and get as much food as we had here. The chicken plate is a half chicken and it comes with rice and fries and salad and is GIANT! The owners/people working here are super friendly and welcoming. Really great service, great food.

She is all in and makes this place fabulous. Because I was in Portugal, I needed to order the codfish dish before leaving. I don't normally care for codfish because it can be tough. This cod dinner was juicy and moist. It was seasoned perfectly and came with the perfect sides of potatoes and spinach. I took my time eating it because it was that good. The wine was great, the Portuguese sausage was excellent. As for the service, our waiter was very attentive and met every need in a very timely manner. Getting back to the roots was topped off with a wonderful live music fado experience. If you ever visit Lisbon, this is a must.

The stuffed mushrooms were overcooked, the tiger prawns were tough and barely edible. The codfish cakes were just okay. The best thing we ate here was honestly the bread. Service was also really slow despite the staggered seating. Ambiance wise it just feels like a low key restaurant with a small stage in front. There are no bad seats in the house which is nice, you can see the performers well no matter where you're seated. The Fado show made up for the bad food. The performances were beautiful and varied. The level of talent on this tiny unsuspecting stage was really something to see. I wish I could've paid for just the show and skipped the meal in retrospect.
