So. Yesterday, I went to my neighborhood Church's to pick up lunch for my hubby. I get to the drive thru and am asked to pull to the window to...take my order!! What the? The speaker obviously works so why am I pulling forward to give you my order?
Anyway, I get to the window and a very nice young man takes my order: 2 wings and fries. He takes my payment and THEN tells me that it will be awhile before the wings will be ready. You can't tell me before you take my payment so that I can decide whether or not I want to wait? He then asks me to park in a space and he will bring my order out to me. Ok, slightly irritating, but no worries. This happens sometimes.
I pull into the space and sit. And sit. AND SIT. I start shooting looks at the window to see if maybe the staff left while I wasn't looking and noticed that there is a TON of cooked chicken on the racks. But no wings? Maybe this is a popular item? Maybe you should have more of these pieces ready?
As I'm sitting there, another young lady pulls up and goes in. She also stood forever, long enough for them to offer her something to eat, which she ate while standing there (by the way, the young man also offered me something while I was waiting; I chose water; which was good because I sat in my hot car long enough to die of thirst :). When, the young lady came out, I asked her if she had ordered wings and she said yes.
TWENTY MINUTES IN, the young man came out to apologize for my wait and asked for my receipt so that he could make sure he got my order right. Five minutes later (I was timing all of this based on the time on my receipt when the order was taken at 2:47pm), he comes back out ...WITH JUST THE CHICKEN!!! Mind you, he had taken my receipt in to "Make sure my order was correct." And why do you need my receipt anyway? Isn't there a screen or something inside that keeps track of orders??? Anyway, finally at freakin' 3:17pm, freakin' 30 minutes after my order was initially taken, I got my fries.
Again, the young man was very nice and said that he would take care of me the next time I visited. WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! And, you ask, why didn't I just ask for my money back after about 15 minutes (which I think is too long to sit and wait for food at a fast food joint)? My husband really wanted Church's.
