I've been to many of the "pubs" north of Seattle. Most feel like glorified sports bars or casual restaurants serving meat pies and whatnot. You know what I mean. The sort of place you'd expect to go on your 21st birthday to get wasted on Blue Moon while eating hot wings and remembering how much you suck at billiards. Either that or it's like an Olive Garden that serves 3 craft beers and sheperd's pie, and they hang a picture of a London Cab on the wall next to a Seahawks jersey that was signed by some player who retired 20 years ago, and that makes it a pub. I've never been to England, but I like to think Churckey is the closest you can get to the spirit of an English pub. It feels like a place you can relax with friends and chat for hours over simple hearty food and local brews. I've sat at just about every table here. I've never been hurried by the staff, even with my eyes glued to the TV through an entire sporting event. Every dish I've ordered has been excellent. The baked mashed potatoes are highly underrated. Pretzels are a must-order every time. The mac n cheese will smack you over the head with stanky Beecher's flavor. They always have a great rotation of local beers and ciders, along with some highly-rated brews from across the country. The decor is really cozy. I have no idea where they got all this vintage stuff, but it's like jumping in a DeLorean and going back to the 40s without the risk of time paradoxes or botulism. Been coming to the Churchkey for years and it never disappoints. Their cocktails are amazing, I recommend the Scofflaw, my fave cocktail of all time. What a find! Recently moved here and trying the various bars and happy hours to find our spots. This little pub is very much on the list. Good beer, cherry service, got that pub vibe going strong. Only had appetizers, the artichoke dip and the corned beef sliders. Both were solid. Will be going back. Hope they do trivia night. read more

Before Covid January 2020. A comfy, friendly neighborhood pub, with a well stocked bar, bar stools and a table with stools going down the middle of the walkway. There are booths with church seats, and overall it was a fun atmosphere . Loved the food, especially their Reuben sandwich and for dessert the Bread pudding. The staff was efficient and friendly. 5 Stars then. After Covid Februar 2021. A cold, dark, stark atmosphere! The bar is closed, no bar stools only booths which were closed in with plastic on both sides. The Reuben sandwich was terrible, with the bread crumbly and the meat tasteless. The cup of chili was made out of a can and cold. Bread pudding no longer available. Took one bite of everything, sent it back and left. The staff was still efficient and friendly. read more

Ate here today at 1:00 just as they were opening. Got violently ill on the Feta flatbread about 5 hours after consumption.

They have a great beer selection (that I enjoyed before I stopped drinking alcohol haha!)--I really liked the Aslan Brewery inclusion! And the food and ambiance are great; classic British pub style. I'd happily go again. read more

"Uncovering a hidden gem in the most unlikely places." Church Key Pub is conveniently located in the heart of Edmonds and a short walking distance away from the waterfront and ferry terminal. Some of crowds I encountered were passengers waiting for the ferry and the rest were locals enjoying a low key night out on the town. The bar does have some large seating areas for big groups and a couple of dartboards to spark a friendly competition. The interior design is simple and cozy providing a relaxed and casual experience. The menu items were an unexpected and delightful surprise consisting of appetizers, soups and salads, entrees, sandwiches, flatbreads, and even a creme brûlée dessert. One notable item that caught my attention was the Mac n' cheese made with Beecher's flagship. The cocktail list was equally impressive as they have absinthe. I opted for the Sazerac, Long Island iced tea, and Bavarian pretzel. The drinks were perfectly mixed and the pretzel was still warm and fresh. The service was top notch I never had to flag anyone for attention for a refill. Overall this place comes with high recommendations. Fantastic service, great menu items, and inviting atmosphere makes this a great happy hour/night out spot. read more

This place is a ripoff. Shepherd's Pie was purchased from Restaurant Depot as a frozen good, heated up in a microwave, and served to you for whopping $17 + tax/tip/ Portion was tiny, taste was criminal. Gordon Ramsey would've had a field trip in this place calling themselves and English Pub. Bottom shelf alcohol used in drinks and severely watered down. Stay away. read more

This place has become my new dinner and drinks spot in downtown Edmonds. If you come semi regularly the staff starts to remember you and they give great recommendations. I love to have a dirty chai or an Irish coffee (especially if I sit outside for the not so spring days) and I NEVER leave without getting the soft pretzel with the beer cheese. I'm vegetarian so I can't say a ton about the menu but I will say they do make the Mac and cheese without bacon if you want (I promise it's still really good) and the mashed potatoes are excellent. It'a definitely a good place to bring friends to. I'd do a date there but it can get busy pretty quickly and the noise might be a little over date levels on the weekends. read more

Wonderful local Irish tavern in Edmonds. But, way way way above average beer selection. Eclectic collection of craft beers for all tastes. And, way way way way above average food. I just had the best pot pie I have ever eaten. And I'm in my 50's. Service is friendly and prompt. Other items on the menu are fantastic as well. The shepherds pie and the curry chicken are not to be missed. So good beer, great food, and a nice vibe. I give it my highest rating. read more

A friend took me here, highly recommended. It was worth it. Sat at a booth. Great guy served us, knowledgeable about all the beers on tap. I had a few Hazy IPA's. We also ordered appetizers: Crab Dip and Flat Bread. Both were tasty and more than enough to satisfy a couple thirsty beer drinkers. The ambiance of this place is truly like a European pub. So grateful for the ChurchKey Pub! We've been going for five years or so, and while some of the menu items have changed (please bring back the old crab dip recipe!) the new items are pretty tasty. We are all about the pub's curry! As far as the COVID bit goes, this is hands down the best patio situation in Edmonds. It does get a bit crowded on weekends and sunny days, so we try to save our visits for mid-week! Anyway, thank you ChurchKey for making our neighborhood so awesome. read more

Grilled cheese, grilled cheese, grilled cheese! If there is anything that bring you to this bar other than the drinks, I would definitely say the GRILLED CHEESE! On a rainy Saturday we went to Churchkey for some drinks and a small bite. By a recommendation, we went with the grilled cheese and were thoroughly impressed. The kitchen, from peeking over, looked tiny but boy are they pumping food out! This is a great local spot in Edmonds if you want a casual spot for a drink! read more

If you read my previous review, you'll find out a bit about what they have. But I can't recommend this place on that basis alone. Trevor, the owner, wanted me to edit my review to reflect something I did not, in fact, experience. I refused. I loved what they were doing here, and said so with an enthusiastic review. But the owner thinks he can whine and bully me into posting what he wants me to post, instead of what I want to write. I will never, ever do that for anyone, ever. I told him I would come back and re-review, and his response was even more aggressive and erratic. He basically said my four-star review was less important to him than getting me to write what he wants. Tell me, Yelpers: would that review be more or less valuable to you if I acquiesced to his demands? If I edit my reviews, Trevor, it's because I feel they require it, not because some myopic busybody who needs to switch to decaf is freaked out about the expensive air conditioning unit he purchased and forgot to turn on when I visited him one sunny afternoon. Seriously guys: that's his big deal. I imagine the real reason there was no AC was because he told his staff not to turn it on, to save money. He seems the type. Whatever. Point is, I reported my experience as honestly as I could. And I am doing so again. I don't recommend this place, because of how it's owner views the opinions of Yelp reviewers. Even in this silly little sandbox, independent critical thought MATTERS to me. I love this place but their portion sizes have been totally chopped in half. I am a creature of habit, I always get the same thing. Their dish sizes and the dishes. They serve their food in are half as big as they used to be. I wish I had proof, but I don't only my word. The price went up at the same time. read more

My friend, sister and I came here on New Years Eve. Someone ID'd is at the door, and when we came in we didn't see any immediate seating in the main area, but there was a long skinny table to the right of the doorway. We sat there, and it was pleasant because it was almost like our own little nook. Service was a little slow, but it was very busy so I expected that. The crab dip was absolutely delicious, and came with enough bread chips to finish off the dip. My friend got the Kobe beef dog, which was giant and yummy. I got the grilled cheese sandwich without apples and add turkey with tomato soup. This was good except it was really, really greasy. My sister got the Rachel and seemed to enjoy it. Overall a good pub with fair prices in Edmonds. Much better than the food served at Rory's. read more

It feels like a place locals come to sit for hours and shoot the breeze with friends and others in the neighborhood. The food is pub fare and comforting. The size is exactly how a pub should be, tight, encouraging standing room and rubbing elbows with strangers as you partake in some seriously good drinks. Speaking of drinks, I went for a cocktail, specifically the Corpse Reviver. So dang refreshing with I THINK a (brandied?) cherry resting at the bottom of the glass, flavoring the drink (which is tart) and soaking up all that liquory goodness. There is limited seating at the bar which stretches more than half the length of the shotgun bar, but you might get lucky sitting in the back towards the dart boards. The first time I came here it was trivia night and it was just starting so there was nowhere to sit (as everyone should know for trivia places) unless you had arrived early and hunkered down saving seats. I'm interested in coming back on a "slow day" and dive into the menu a little further. read more
