We had our tree cut down by someone else who didn't come back to finish splitting the wood and grind the stump. Called Chuck who was hesitant about splitting the wood and said he would arrange for lemons to do the stump grinding. I told him that I would have my son do the splitting and deal with the wood but to go ahead and have lemons come out to do the stump grinding. Chuck came out and gave us a 2nd estimate on a Sunday as we changed our mind as to what we wanted. Agreed on a price. He called Friday morning and said he can be out after lunch. His crew removed two trees and cleaned up all of the debris from it. I was working on the yard cleaning up leaves from my flower bed and his crew picked up my yard waste for me and disposed of it. I own a vacant lakefront lot. I stopped to see it over lunch and my neighbor had authorized this tree service to cut down a 60+ year old beautiful tree that was on my lot. It is clearly on my lot as well. He did not even check. I spoke with him and he at least agreed to deliver the wood to my house which is only 2 miles away. Of course, the wood never showed up. Therefore, my neighbor got her tree down, a sunny deck and plenty of firewood for the winter. I lost a beautiful old growth tree, did not receive the wood and will most likely be invoiced for the job as well. I will update this post if that happens. All in all, he seems like a nice guy, but he didn't follow through and he should have made sure the person owned the lot. He didn't and a lot of damage was done. Once he realized he was in violation of many laws, you think he would have delivered the wood. Update ------- He did deliver the wood today. surpise, surprise. I called chuck this passed fall and he came out for an estimate the day after I called and gave a very reasonable estimate. I wanted to wait until spring to have the work completed. 2 years ago they did trees for us and I would of gave them 5 stars...I have called them multiple times recently to come back and cut 2 more trees and they called me back on the first call and said they would be out and give me an estimate the next day.....that was over a month ago. Poor customer service! This company cut a couple trees for a friend who said the price was better than all other quotes he had gotten. Without even calling anyone else, my husband set up an appointment for a quote. Hired Chuck's Tree service to take down three Trees, leave wood and mulch. When they showed up to take the tree's he didn't want to leave any wood, instead he said he would bring me a pick up truck full of split and dried hard woods. He came back with barely a single layer of split wood in his pick up and said to call when it was gone and he would bring me more. When I called for more he didn't remember anything and never came with any wood, it's been three weeks. He doesn't return any phone calls now..............I would never use him again. read more

Got an estimate to trim a large maple tree in our front yard. The price was right so I gave him the OK and when I showed up to pay him, you couldn't help but notice that the top half of the tree had not been touched. When I questioned him about it he said that "the City of Canton has an Arborist and does not allow them to trim anything off the top of trees, and that he could be fined for doing so." I contacted the city Arborist and found out that Chuck doesn't know what he is talking about. No such restriction exists. The Arborist further stated that you can do whatever you want with a tree on your property....its your tree. The restrictions only apply to trees in the devil strip or tree lawn and follow proper pruning techniques. I got a "low quote" for the job but only got half the tree trimmed. Tried calling him back but no return call. Scam!! Had to hire another tree service to finish the job. It appears that Chuck gives low estimates to get the job and does the minimal amount of work to justify the low quote. Quantity over quality. Won't use or recommend this service again. read more
