We wanted to give a shout out to the guys who worked so hard with cutting down and chopping up our 7 trees we had removed from our front yard. The crew consisting of Aaron, Rory, Kyle, and Josh all were respectful, knowledgeable, helpful, and they worked diligently to get the job completed. They really need to be praised for a job well done. They especially had it challenging that day with working outside with having to breathe in the smoke in the air from the wildfires. Very disappointed with this company and would not recommend them. We were told crane service would be included, however a lift was used instead, and debris/logs were left in an inaccessible area off our property rather than where agreed upon. The process also involved multiple delays and reschedules, and despite trying to be understanding about weather and equipment issues, the final result still left us dealing with additional cleanup problems and unresolved concerns. Overall, this experience was stressful, poorly communicated, and not what we paid or planned for. Just go with a ma & pa shop tree service that has been in business for a decade or longer and has decent reviews maybe even on the better business bureau. About 10 years ago Barberton Tree Service was doing work in 3 large maple trees that are literally right in the middle of the property line. My neighbor was having some large branches taken off the 3 trees. As they moved in the bucket/boom they went ahead and lopped off small dead branches on their way down as long as they were in the general area of where they were already working and they were like 4" in diameter or smaller. Fast forward 10 years to today and it was like an entirely different company was there. 1.) they told my neighbor when she signed the contract with them that they would not need to pull any equipment onto her driveway, everything can be done from the street i.e. the crane, and any booms/cherry pickers. 2.) I asked how much it would be to take off a couple dead branches (maximum 6 or 7) all of them 6" or smaller in diameter most about 4" in diameter. Guy says, "oh, we have estimators that come out and do that". Remember: they told the neighbor nothing would be pulled onto her driveway or in her yard and it would all be done from the street. Immediately when they arrive, they start putting heavy plastic units to protect the yard for when a boom/lift drives onto the yard to protect from tire/track marks on the yard. Which was effective, however, she was told prior to signing contract nothing would be brought onto the lawn. Next, the massive crane truck backs into her driveway and leaves cracks all over her concrete apron. Anytime, the lady would point at minor dead branches they were annoyed. It was as if they just wanted to remove the 2 large branches with the crane and that was it. They were in such a hurry to get to the next job that they had no focus or paid no attention to the customer that they were currently dealing with. If you hire this company and they say they are not pulling anything heavy into your yard, have them put that in the contract before you sign. Make certain that everything is readable and understandable in that contract.....and read it thoroughly. This company has gone from a ma & pa shop that cared about its customers like they would care about family, to a large conglomerate that is focused on rushing from one job to the next, to the next, to the next, etc. and so on. In the companies defense though, remember if a company has 30 different crews; one would have no idea which crew is being sent to their job i.e. names on a good review might now be showing up to a customer's job. Also, a suggestion if you want them to do a better job, you might want to ask to be the last on the schedule for the day. If you are first on the schedule, they most definitely are going to rush through your job. Wouldn't doubt if they get bonuses for getting jobs done extremely quickly, which would explain why they don't trim off any minor dead branches on their way down. I wouldn't hire them to rake my front lawn. UPDATE ON REVIEW 4/23/26: Then, to make matters even worse you can see the response from management. Not taking accountability for anything that they did or did not do. I never tried to solicit free labor/services; the review that I left clearly states that I was interested in getting a quote preferably while they were there to prevent such a ridiculous amount of heavy equipment traffic that was already in place. Instead of sending someone out to give a quote they were gone in about an hour. I never asked for anything for free, literally asked for a QUOTE/ESTIMATE to take 5 or 6 branches. I was actually going to remove this review for my neighbor's sake but then I saw the owner's response about asking for free work which is completely not true. "Slander": (noun) 1. the action or crime of making a FALSE spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation. The owner should understand the word "slander" before they accuse someone of a crime. Still trying to figure out what was stated that was false. The only thing in the entire review that is FALSE is the owner stating that I was asking for something to be done for free. I also never stated that I did business with this company. I stated that I wouldn't do business with this company. My question is this: Is there anything that was written above that the owner is saying is false? If so, what is it? I would definitely be willing to remove anything that is false because I am not a liar and definitely do not like to be called one. read more

Two HUGE trucks casme out to cut a neighbors trees. I live on a corner with a very narrow street, and a very short driveway. They BLOCKED me in and I had trouble getting out of my driveway. I called the company and a lady laughed when I told her what was going on. She said that she would call the cutters but they may not hear because of the tree cutting. Shortly after my call, two cutters came to put cones out behind their trucks. When I told the older guy that he was blocking me in, he became very agitated and said"your struggles are not my concern". And he said he was not moving. They had the ENTIRE street to move up or down away from my drive and he refused. I will now speak to the neighbor who is a long time friend of the family. You may have lost a customer. The way you treat people is a reflection on your business. Hire better people. read more

We live on a corner lot in Akron and needed a massive tree removed ahead of renovating the outside of our home. The tree was shaped like a trident, leaning towards our house, and being in Highland Square - the houses are very close together. However, the crew navigated this challenge amazingly! Had a guy come out and said, he would email me the estimate. Waited 2 weeks, nothing. I called the office and she said, she didn't get it. She told me that she would send him back. In the mean time my yard was full of tree branches to much for me at 65. He came back and again send a email. My wife said, email me. She received a estimate that was so scribbled that we could hardly read it. The money didn't add up right. She called them and said, the the heck. I wanted them to cut down a 10 foot dead tree in my yard and they wanted 600 dollars. Did it myself in 5 minutes and another hr for clean up. Don't use them. I am writing regarding extremely unprofessional customer service I received in response to damage done to a group of arborvitae sitting on our property but with branches hanging over the property during a tree removal from the next door neighbor's yard in August 2021 by Barberton Tree. The branches of the arborvitae did hang over the drivway of this neighbor's property. Neither the neighbors nor us were contacted prior to or following the complete chopping off the mature arborvitae full branches that overhung the drive. The neighbors came to us to apologize and said when they called Barberton Tree to ask why all of the arborvitae branches on one side of the trees had been chopped off, they were told it was the only way for the truck to be able to get up their driveway to the tree that was scheduled to be taken down. This is understandable; however, we believe someone from Barberton Tree should have called either the neighbors or knocked on our door to try to reach us. At the very least, the company might have followed up to apologize. THE MOST UPSETTING PART: We finally called Barberton Tree the following year when new neighbors moved in and were very bothered by the hack job facing their property. Rather than apologize once I described what had happened, the office manager's first response was to ask why I waitned so loing to call. "Let me get this right, you are calling about tree work done on your neigbor's property a year ago in August??" I was surprised by the lack of professionalism and explained that I wished I had called sooner, but that I let it go until the new neighbors moved in and approached us about how bad it looked and working on a way to fix it. No apology from the office mananger, but she said she would send their arborist out to take a look. The arborist came out and suggested the new, baby arborvitae trees purchased could be planted in between the ones that had been destoyed. We asked Baberton to be reimbursed for the $150 it cost to buy the new trees. The arborist seemed taken aback by such a request and said he would first need to speak to the couple for whom they did the work. I was not sure why he needed to spak to them, but said I would wait to hear back. I waited a few weeks, and finally called back myself. The arborist said he spoke to management and that they would not reimburse for the treees because we "went ahead and bought them first." This did not make sense to me. He said I could contact the office if I had any further questions. I called the office and let the office manager know we were not happy with this decision. She said she would let the president know, but proceedindicated that she believed my request was unreasonable. I told her I was writing a letter to the Ohio Attorney General Consumer Complaints Division, to which she unprofessionally responded, "Just don't go on social media." I found it an odd and, again, a totally unprofessional thing to say. By the time we were ending the call, I was so angry I told her I would go to social media. (I am not sure if this review is what she meant by "social media") The president did call me, asked for details, though she seemed to have her mind made up and did not actually want the details. She then said it was a ridiculous to ask a company to pay for damage to someone else's property and compared it by saying it would be like them calling a Spectrum to say they should pay for a new router of her neighbors that didnt' work. I had to interupt her to let her know the trees were on our property. Again, she shut me down, defended her office manager when I said how rude she was. She also said she could not believe I would spend this much time on an issue for a measley $150. I disconnected the call. When I told the president not one person from Barberton Tree has said the words "we are sorry", she defended them and also refrained from saying sorry, which would have gone a long way to difuse my anger. I sent a text to this president apologizing for disconnecting her but that I have never been treated so rudely by such a big company and that I would be writing this in a review and contacting the Ohio Attorney General Consumer Complaints Division. THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY actually responded to the text to say she was happy she had been recording our phone call so she had a record of how rude I was and so they could show I was slandering them by going to social media. I have written to the Ohio AG and filed a complaint with the BBB as well. I am not sure if this is social media, but this is not slander; it is the truth. I cannot say enough positive things about the employees & there services. After years of unwanted flooding, our pine tree rotted at the base & collapsed onto our home. Luckily there wasn't any damage but it was urgent that the tree be removed as my brand new duck cages were directly underneath the trunk. Since they aren't movable , I was concerned that the tree would fall and wipe all of the ducks out. Josh came out and did a free evaluation, I can't remember the exact price, but for under $1,200; the crew appeared first thing the next morning & removed the tree. The price also includes removal & clean up, plus the two cranes they had to use. These guys were in & out with no hassle; you can also pay by card over the phone. Got an estimate to remove two trees last Oct and called the next day to accept. I had to call them four months later because I never heard back about scheduling. They called in March and gave me 24 hrs notice that they would be out. I called at 4:30 pm because they didn't show and was told they were on their way. They drove past the house but didn't stop. I then got a call that they would have to reschedule. A week and a half later I got another call that they wouldn't make the appointment that day because of delays. TOTALLY IMPRESSED-watched as they took down a Huge silver maple 2ft. from my deck in the back yard. From parking the crane on mats in the nextdoor neighbors back yard to flushing the stump, these guys are the real deal. The bucket man straps a section at a time and the crane operator lifts&lowers it to the ground crew to feed the chipper. Bigger wood and trunk sections were lowered directly into a dump(mult loads)and hauled away. Think the crane guy could lower that hook onto a quarter in 30mph. wind. These guys are the real deal. They showed up on time with about five trucks and a crew of six or seven and removed an 85' maple in under two hours! Details follow. The bucket was on a boom on a truck that also had a crane on it. The man in the bucket extended the bucket as far as it would go and put a harness on two large branches above a fork about 25' below the treetop and attached it to the cable on the crane. The crane operator pulled on the cable until it was taut. The bucket man maneuvered down the tree and cut the trunk just below where the two secured branches joined. He had a big chainsaw and it cut fast, but he didn't have to cut all the way through--constant pressure on the two forks by the crane did the rest. While the bucket man maneuvered to the next cutting point the crane swung the decapitation horizontally to a clear area away from the house and with the help of 5 or 6 men, guided the log to earth, where it was immediately attached to another cable on a large industrial grade wood chipper and blown into the bed of a covered truck. By the time the crane was disengaged the bucket man had lassoes another section of tree and he was ready for the crane again. All of the carcass was fed into the green chipper except for the bottom three sections, which were loaded onto a flatbed with a large reticulated claw that was mounted on the flatbed. The workers picked up the thirty or so 4'x 8' rubber panels they had laid out on the property to protect the landscape from the heavy equipment and loaded them in the back of one of the trucks. The caravan snaked out of the neighborhood and in a few moments you would not have known they were ever there. read more

It all depends on what you are looking for. I had several people out to estimated for trimming and grinding stumps. They were not the best price but seemed the most professional so we went with them. The tree trimming service part i would highly recommend they did a great job cleaned up everything. So if just doing that go with them. They did it when i was home which was nice. If you want stumps girded dont. They did not let me know when they were coming out and so did it when i was not home to make sure done right. They left holes in my yard, they left dirt in the grass that it came from. Not end of world it was going to be raining shortly after i got home and they were closed so i spent only 30 min to clean it up made it look nice but not right. A couple days later they called asking for money told them what happened I took pictures. I sent to them. A few hours later they called said that is not normal and the manager will talk to the employee. I asked are they going to do anything on cost. their response was No because i should have called them and had them fix it. So the fd up i cleaned up and they tell me i am wrong because i did not call them first and tell them. So they did nothing. So bad customer service. Bad girding stump, good tree trimming. ****NEW**** They called me and the person said she was having surgery and was out of the office. She was extremely sorry about the whole thing. She refunded money plus offered to come out and do more. This made me happy with their customer service. They also said the guy who did it must have had a bad day and it has never happened before. So good tree trimming, not great for me on grinding. At first bad customer service but they called later and fixed it. overall- before definitely use the trimming, now i would try the grinding again read more

The trees are down, and they didn't hit my house, that's the biggest part and they did THAT anyway. So they get one star. They left ruts in my yard. -1 star I drive heavy trucks, sometimes it happens. I get that. They left trash from their lunch. Enough that it was pretty obvious where people sat. Sloppy, not a huge deal. -1 star They broke the cable I gave up for the dogs run, then repaired it. Badly. Accidents happen, I also get that. - 1 star I tried to review the contract I signed, to be clear on what we had agreed to, you really couldn't read it much at all. Get everything in writing, that you can READ! My mistake. Real problem - I called to talk to the boss, or at least who I dealt with, Brian. Not there, the very nice secretary told me call back early tomorrow, before all the trucks leave. Told I her was not happy, I had several issues to discuss. Called the next day, secretary tells me 'there's nothing he can do for you, sorry, he can't take your call'. Wouldn't even TALK to me. Made someone else take care of his unhappy customer. So if you've ever had a job where someone above shirked off unpleasant duties, and made other people deal with messes he created, then maybe Brian and Barberton tree are for you. Not for me there are a hundred other tree services out there, I'll definitely try one of them next time. I have probably 100 trees, so I'll have the chance. read more

Barberton Tree Service just did a trim job on a big river birch in my yard that had been out of control and dropping branches for several years. Chayne came out lo look at the situation, and knew exactly what was going on and what to do. (A different tree service with a big name had recommended another approach that was much more expensive, and I later learned that it could have actually done some harm to the tree.) Barberton Tree did a super job. The guys were very nice and very professional. Most of all, the tree looks great, and the price was quite reasonable. I just called the office after they left and paid over the phone with a credit card. Customer service was excellent throughout the entire process, and I'd recommend this company to anyone. read more

We got a estimate for 3 trees to be removed from our front yard. We accepted the estimate and signed the agreement to pay. They called a few weeks later and came out to do the job, but once they got there and asked all of neighbors to move their cars they called me and told me that they could not do the job. They said that the electrical wires and our new driveway would let them do it the way they wanted. They called me a few days later and explained it would cost another $1800 for them to do the job. I told them no and explained I told the guy who did the estimate that the new driveway would be there and he said no problem that the crane could reach from the street and the wires were there when he did the estimate. So we don't recommend this service, because of the fact that they don't stand by there estimate's read more

The morning the work was to be done there was a huge snafu that had nothing to do with Barberton, but they handled it with ease.
