Hercules responded quickly after the past Friday the 13th wind storm even though they were swamped. They removed a maple tree that was partially downed during the storm. Called them to remove two large trees from a home. The crew they sent worked very hard and did a great job. No problems there. However, the business breaks promises, uses deceptive business practices and their cost is outrageous. They charged $650.00 to set 4 warning cones in the street. Did not show up when they promised. Did not bring the needed equipment when they did show up. The job was a week behind schedule. They wanted $6,000.00 additional to remove the tree trunk. We had it done for $1,200.00. Last night's wind storm brought down half of a large tree in our back yard. I immediately phoned Hercules Tree Service as they have done excellent work for us just last year. Sad to loose such a big tree but happy that Hercules made the best of a bad situation. They responded quickly and professionally removed the entire tree, cleaned up the yard and the price was fair. I had a badly-comprised red oak tree located in a hard-to-get-to (lake front) area of the Portage Lakes. The tree had an 8 ft crack about 15 feet up the trunk due to a lightning strike. The tree was massive and it would have demolished my home (had it split and fallen over). The tree was an imminent threat to my home, the lake, my neighbors home and the public (who utilize the lake). This was an emergency status! Several other tree services had come to my house. All of them confirmed how bad the situation was. None of them prioritized the removal of the tree nor did they follow up with me. Frankly, I don't believe that the other tree services had the capacity to do the job. More than a week went by. I was sweating-bullets! I believe that the tree would have fallen during the next wind gust. Cody came to my home and saw how dire the situation was. He prioritized taking down my tree due to the risk and danger it presented. Cody and his crew were there the very next day with his Grove (200 foot) crane. Had a tree come down during a wind storm. Called Hercules to have them take care of it and another one that was still standing. The estimator Bob who is the owner as well must not have gotten the message to quote the standing one beside it too. So he didn't. I called and talked with him about adding it to the quote. He asked for details and I told him it was 10-12 inches wider at the base and 30% taller. He and I agreed on a price after I texted him a photo. The day the crew shows up they wanted $500 more to do the job stating they weren't making enough money off it. Not only did I send the owner a picture I also told him it was bigger and gave him an idea what the difference was. They tried to take advantage of me. Bait and switch and scam more money from me. I've left multiple messages with the owner Bob with no response. They ended up doing the tree the had already fallen for the original price of $375 for 40 minutes of work. BEWARE OF SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES AND NOT HONORING THEIR WORD!!!! read more

Unbelievable service. Came to our house within a week for an estimate with a very fair price. They were able to come out THE NEXT DAY and removed some very dead trees from the front of our property. They did a fantastic job cleaning up our driveway and yard afterwards and didn't take the money until the job was done. We had spent almost a month going back and forth with another tree service and they never even bothered to come out for the estimate. Could not be happier. read more

Having used other tree services in the past, this was my first time using Hercules Tree. They called to schedule service. They showed up at 8am and got right to work. Hercules Tree Service has another satisfied customer. We hired this company to cut two big dead oak trees and 7 bay trees in our backyard. The trees were on a steep slope. Rich and his workers did a great job. They arrived on time, and worked professionally, with precision. They also did it very quickly, in less than a day. We are very happy that we hired this company. I had much higher hopes for this company as they were recommended to me. However, their customer service is HORRIBLE. When I called to get an estimate, I received an attitude from the person scheduling. They just wanted to quote me a price over the phone without seeing the work that needed done....uhm, I don't know what all needs done, hence the reason for an estimate. When I finally convinced them to come out, they gave me an attitude as the days and times didn't work - I even heard someone one rudely say ' NO WAY', they didn't realize they could be heard. I scheduled the estimate at I time I knew we would be home, 5:30-6:30. Someone showed up at 4:45 and scared the crap out of my children. When I called him to ask him to come back when we were home, he got an attitude. I knew at that point, this wasn't meant to be. Sadly, they lost my business and will not recommend them to others. read more

Do Not hire this company. If they damage your property, they Will Not repair damages. They broke my concrete driveway in Tallmadge. I have called 7 times, the owner will not return my calls. Please do not give him your hard earned money. He has no consideration for you or your property. They get one star from me because the poor receptionist is very nice. Be warned at hiring in the summer storm season. We hired them to cut down standing dead trees that could fall and hit the house. This was all planned, drawn out and agreed upon. The site manager/crew supervisor was not the same person who gave us the plan and estimate. I barely turned my back on the crew at work only to realize they were cutting down ALL trees, dead and alive. It's now a horrible eyesore of 15 foot stumps and it ruined our privacy screen to neighbors back yard. Additionally we paid to have the trees mulched and for them to leave the mulch with us. They hauled the mulch away. My warning is that during their busy season it seems that there is a communication breakdown. They did refund us a small portion of our bill, but nothing can replace the lost twenty and thirty year old trees. This is the second time we used them. The other time was better, but they still cut down a live fruit tree that wasn't in the plan, for these reasons we will not hire them again. read more

Had Hercules come out to cut a limb hanging over the garage, a tree in the backyard taken down, and another small tree. When I got home, the trees were cut down but the limb,(the one I was concerned about the most) is still there. I called the guy to come back out and he said he would have them come back and get it. Three months went by and nothing. I called the company. Apparently the original guy was out on leave. They sent a new guy out. He looked at the limb and I also pointed out some other work I would like to have done. He told me that he would talk to the cutters and they would get back out here and take care of it. This was in Sept 2017. I have not heard a peep from anyone. I would not recommend this company! They charged me for a limb that was never cut down and also have not tried to contact me about the other work. Apparently they do not need the money. I'm wondering if they charge others for not doing all the work that is shown on the invoice. I do not see this as a good business practice. At least contact me when you say you will. I'll find someone else to give 5 grand to. read more
