I made phone calls to three tree service companies to request a quote to remove one dying mature pine tree and trim out the dead wood in two adjacent oak trees. I received a call from Berens 24 hours after leaving a message describing the service needed, and met with their representative the next day. He prepared a quote on the spot. I was aware at that time that previously booked work would put this job down the list several weeks, but there was no urgency and the work was scheduled and done 8 weeks later. Work began about 8 AM and the problem tree was down and parts run through the chipper an hour later. Trimming up and cutting out the dead wood from the oaks took another couple hours, but every twig was cleaned up from the yard, driveway and street before the crew left. The next day the stump was ground out and now we must decide whether to plant the area in grass or do some landscaping. I cannot praise the work or workers more highly. The crew was courteous, efficient, and wasted no time with any aspect of the job. Disappointed in the way they trimmed up a tree. Had them return a second time as first time could not see a difference. Second time still not satisfactory. Definitely do not think tree should be lopsided but then I am only the homeowner. What has happened to taking pride in your workmanship?! read more

Very reasonable and prompt. Removed a 40 foot tree, stump and roots from my front yard. I was able to plant grass the next day.

Very expensive and careless not a business model that you need people getting so greedy.

I have had Berens work at my home several times before, so I'm writing this review as an experienced customer. Last night about 6:45 PM my neighbor's VERY large tree fell across our shared driveway and my front lawn. I called the city, because the tree was also blocking one lane of the street, and they said they'd send someone out. I next called Berens, and their estrimator was at my home 20 minutes after I called. I told him it was important that the driveway be cleared in the morning, because the neighbor needed to get to work, and I needed to get to an appointment. To make a long story short, by 10:30 AM this day, the tree, which covered mine and my neighbor's yard, was gone, and EVERYRTHING was cleaned up. I wasn't surprised, knowing that these folks are PROs and the real deal. Their work is quick, complete, and their people are courteous and conscientious. I would recommend them without any reservation. BTW, the city inspector drove by about 10:00 AM, after Berens had my part of things, including the stuff in the street, cleaned up. Bob C. read more

Let me start by saying that Berens tree service vastly surpassed my expectations and I would recommend them, hands down, for any tree job, especially difficult ones. Let me give a back story: We had a very large oak tree we wanted removed. The tree was less than 10 feet away from our house with large branches hanging over the roof. The previous owners of our home also has a concrete patio poured around the tree. My husband and I had scheduled another tree service that was supposed to come on April 20/21 (depending on their other jobs). When those days came, they said they wouldn't make it out and it was looking like the following Friday (the 29th I believe). They had called the day before and confirmed they were coming and asked us to take a chunk of our fence down (which had concreted in poats) so he could get his truck into our backyard, but the next day texted me and told me they would yet again not be able to come out. This wouldn't have been a huge deal, but we have 3 small toddlers, had now removed a huge section of our fence, and for how long? It was already Friday meaning the fence would have to be down till AT LEAST Monday. I was in a state of panic. I called around and found Berens. Joe, the Owner, was able to come out and give me a quote within an hour, despite the fact that we'd recently had storms and it's the busiest time of year. Not only was their quote more than reasonable, but he barely batted an eye at our tree that had 2 other tree services running. He had much better equipment than the guy who was originally going to do the job and managed to squeeze us into their schedule THE SAME DAY. From the time they pulled in the driveway to the time they left was maybe 3 hours. Our yard was soaked because of all they rain we've had and our yard looks untouched minus the wood we wanted to keep. He had a large crew that was fast and efficient with great communication amongst each other. The chained and cut large limbs, craned them over our house, and chipped them. By the time one limb was chipped, another was ready. Our yard was left immaculate, they even cleaned up the street. Berens worked late so that we could put or fence back up for the kids. It wasn't their fault, nor was it their problem, but they went out of their way to help us even with the short notice. They were professional and I really couldn't be happier.
