If you need a break from all the shopping and need a little game time, Chuck's is worth a visit. It's also located near the food court. There isn't any food or drinks here, just games, claw machines, and more. There's a decent variety of games, from a few retro classics to mostly modern ones. It's like a mini-Dave & Buster's. The gaming area isn't huge, but it's still enjoyable for the whole family. You purchase and load game pass cards with points at the self-serve kiosks. You accrue digital tickets (on some games) to redeem for prizes from the staff or the self-serve Prize Hub. The cost of playing is a little high. The minimum you can purchase is $10 for 100 points. The cost per game varies, but you'll play a few games, then you need to recharge. I wish they had a couple of pinball machines or more retro games. Then again, it's a small space to accommodate. There's minimal staff. The gaming area is clean, and I've had no issues playing the games I wanted. They seemed well maintained. I give this a 3.5 rating, and it's not a bad place to pass the time. It's definitely not a Chuck E. Cheese's or a D&B's, so don't expect anything quite as big or entertaining. It's cool to check out if you've got some time on your hands while waiting for a reservation or walking thru the mall, but it's not large enough to spend an entire afternoon there. They mostly have claw games, some shooting games, & a handful of ski ball, basketball, knock over the clown, break a plate games. There are also some regular video games too, but I was surprised there were some I felt were missing - Tetris, Donkey Kong, Dig Dug, Street Fighter. The Ms. PAC Man was awful; she was NOT fast like she's supposed to be! Oh, the dancing game (DDR?) was pretty fun cuz we were able to battle, so I'm glad they have 2 next to each other. read more

I was hopeful when I found out Chuck's Arcade was coming to bring the arcade experience back to adults who grew up with arcades. The place is cool and has that feel, but a bit smaller. The downside is cost. So you pay about $10 for 100 point cards. The prize games go for around 30 pts so essentially, you only get 3 games for that amount. The old school arcade games are around 10 pts, but even that is a stretch. Maybe if this place was more like GameStop with alcohol, it would be more adult friendly, and fun. Otherwise, it's just a place to play games for a bit, and then move on to the next store in the mall. read more

This is a nice addition to the Brea Mall. This playcenter is right next to food court on the second floor. Ambiance is nice and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. You can play your old favorite retro games or even newer arcades. They even have cool claw games. I did not purchase the game card. This place is overpriced. It is fun for all ages. read more

Came here because it advertised itself as a retro arcade with focus on games for adults, but was quite disappointed when I only saw six retro games (Tempest, Tron, Centipede, Mortal Kombat, Galaga/Ms Pac Man combo). It's mostly claw machines and more modern games. I really don't have an issue with this place not serving any food (despite it being Chuck E. Cheese) but I just wasn't that impressed with its selection of games and price. If it wants to be retro, it should allow quarters to be used instead of paying for an electronic card to play each game. Nickel Nickel Arcade in Garden Grove has much better selection of games with better price. I would still come back but it's mainly because I still have some points left on my game card. read more

Date of visit: September 1, 2025 We were excited to check out Chuck's Arcade in the Brea Mall - as kids, both Kat and I remembered our visits to Chuck E. Cheese fondly, and the amount of times we spent in the arcades and playing Skee-ball. Chuck's Arcade wants to be a throwback to those days, but without the food and the animatronic band (although there is a Mr. Munch costume on display... but why Mr. Munch instead of Chuck E. Cheese himself is beyond me). That said, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in Chuck's Arcade... not as many stand-up arcade cabinets as I thought there would be (surprisingly, there was a TRON cabinet from the '80s that over 40 years later, I still got my ass handed to me by it). Most of the games are two-player co-op, or skill-based games for digital tickets good for prizes at the redemption booth. Yes, the tickets are digital now; everything goes on your players card, similar to Dave & Buster's. Although there's only two Skee-Ball lanes, reloading your card is pricy (I paid $25 to load mine up), and it's a relatively small layout, Chuck's Arcade is still a nice diversion in the Brea Mall that is welcome to see. read more

Bradley, the attendant was extremely friendly. That said, he was not trained extensively enough in Chuck E. Cheese history and general knowledge, in my party's opinion. We felt he should have known more about Northridge being a legacy store/still having working animatronics. My kids were telling him that was our next stop and how excited they are to see it, and he had no idea Northridge is a legacy store with working animatronics. That was a little disappointing. Otherwise he was helpful and friendly. I had thought that the idea of "Chuck's Arcade" was to provide a retro/nostalgic experience. They did have Centipede, a table top Galaga/Ms. Pac-Man game, and one other 80s game (something I had never played or heard of), but I had really expected more of those. I had hoped to see some old favorites I had enjoyed at Chuck E. Cheese, in my childhood. I was looking for Donkey Kong, Frogger, Mappy, Joust, Poll Position, maybe that old ice hockey game in the clear bubble (you know what I'm talking about if you were a child of the 80s). What we DID find was tons and tons of claw machines that were super easy to win. Bring a bag with you. My kids loaded up on Angry Birds toys, Tom and Jerry toys, got a Minecraft one, etc. They even had Chuck E Cheese plushes inside some of the claw machines. Unfortunately, they have no bags for your winnings. Consider bringing something to contain your prizes. The games were pretty expensive. For example, one try on a claw machine game is 30 credits. The prize counter looks pretty neat, but everything on the actual "prize counter" is only available for cash purchase. The ticket prizes are actually available in a robotic redemption machine next to the Mr. Munch animatronic case. The Mr. Munch is really cool to see, but my kids prefer the operating animatronics so we are leaving and going to Northridge. No food is available here, and it does not appear that Chuck E makes any appearances. Oh well. We're glad we came, but just the same, we must be going. ;-) read more

Disappointing but also fine. The nostalgia-themed décor and merchandise are fun, but I'm not sure who this place is really for. The website says, "The arcade was created for adults and lifelong fans who grew up surrounded by the electric glow of arcade screens..." Well, that's me. I grew up going to Chuck E. Cheese in the '90s, playing some awesome arcade games, none of which are here. Aside from skee-ball, nothing felt familiar, so I didn't feel compelled to play anything. It also didn't help that a few games were already not working. If I had to guess, this would probably appeal more to teens or young adults. But if Chuck E. Cheese really wants to sell my childhood back to me, they need to offer the actual experiences I had there- games and activities from that era. Selling new merch with old characters and slapping on a retro logo (even if it does look cool) just isn't enough. I can see it appealing to some people, and it's certainly something different to do at the mall, but it didn't grab me. I recently visited this small arcade location inside the Brea Mall and left incredibly frustrated.We were excited to play one of the main attractions, the Minecraft game, but it was completely out of cards and couldn't be played. I spent an hour and a half at the venue, and there was literally not a single staff member at the counter the entire time. I waited around for assistance and even tried calling their listed phone number to see if anyone would come out from the back, but nobody ever showed up.On top of the complete lack of customer service, the prices here are very expensive for what is offered. I understand that mall arcades have higher overhead, but paying premium prices should come with basic customer support. It's called Chucks Arcade. Feels more like a 3rd party using the Chuckecheese branding. You can not use your points or tickets from chuckecheese here. It's meant to be adult gaming. We spent $50 for 600 points and won 158 in tickets, the cheapest prize is 200 tickets and it was a small plush the size of a car key. It was clean, lots of options but overall NOT Worth it. This place seems to be made for kids 12 and up. It's only arcade games. It would be a place where you let your teen kids go if they want to hang out. The food court is nearby. The games look fun but it doesn't seem cheap to play. The layout is ok and the place seems inviting, but it's not much more than an arcade. read more

En route to Panda Express, I found that this place is finally open. Not interested in the many claw machines or pinball, but they had several games I played as a kid at the mall arcade, including my favorite, Tempest!! The place is large and clean and of course, brand spankin' new since it just opened. Since of course no place takes quarters anymore, I found myself studying the card machine with a frown on my face. Help was at hand posthaste. The young attendant explained that they use cards now, and the minimum is $10. Not very different than my favorite laundromat, actually. No, there is no pizza, just games. Chuck's Arcade does a great job with the space it has, and you can tell they put real thought into which machines to include. For me, the nostalgia was instant with skee-ball, carnival games, and the feeling of chasing tickets. Of course, now the tickets are tracked on cards (welcome to the future), but it still gave me that same "I need just 20 more points for a plastic spider ring" kind of vibe. I'd say kids ages 7-12 are in the sweet spot here--they'll be the ones bouncing around having the most fun. But younger kids won't feel left out thanks to plenty of claw machines, and adults can still get their fix with skee-ball and a few throwback games. One note: I originally thought they'd be serving drinks, but this is strictly an arcade. No cocktails, just a dozen claw machines...so if you're hoping for a beer while you miss 20 straight skee-ball shots, this isn't the spot. Still, it's family-friendly, fun, and makes the most of its footprint (about half the size of a Round 1 Arcade in City of Industry). The arcade has a good selection of games and makes good use of it's size. It is nice to see the four retro games (Centipede, Tron, Mortal Kombat, and Tempest). The problem is the price! I highly recommend doing some quick math and realize this costs considerably more than many big name arcade restaurant venues. The cost of purchasing credits, combined with the number of credits per game might not discourage first timers who do not care to calculate their expected cost, but it is likely to dissuade them from returning. There is a food court and restaurants within a minute or two walk, so the lack of food seems completely fine and is actually nice because the focus is on the games and not an enormous venue that has higher overhead costs. If this place charged prices comparable to the norm, then Chuck's Arcade would become an option. read more

Most games aren't ticket rewarding and if you do get tickets, you have to get at least 200 to get any prize from the prize machine. I love 75 percent of the games, one game has been out of service basically since opening. biggest concern is lack of variety, too many racing games, vr or dumb shooting games. The games like plinko or the marble game with little prizes are really fun. Way too expensive though, 5 dollars on your card gets you one chance at a big stuffed animal in which the game to earn it takes lots of skill trying to stop a timer at 10 seconds. I was here for the video game day where everything was 50 percent off and I will tell you it made the whole experience so much more fun. The prices need to get rebalanced before I drop 40-50 dollars on a next visit. This place could be super fun if they rotated the prizes and games out once and while. Instead of me being there 2-3 times a months it might be like every other month I come in. Need more retro and need more Chuck E. Cheese themed games.
