    The dance floor

Everything has changed a lot since I was here last. No more animated critters, no ball pits, no tubes....but...the kids had a ball. They have an awesome dance floor with great music! They have tons of games abs cute little prizes. The kids had a blast!

Oh Yeah! I have been to some cruddy Chuck E Cheese's in my time. But this is not one of them. This one rocks. Would have been 5* if it had a larger play space and louder anamatronic stage-show. Yes, I said louder. This one is clean, and well lit. Most of the games/rides/amusements work. And even the big games that move, which cost $.50-$1.00 at crossgates are just one token. With coupons, that you can print from chuckecheese.com you can get those tokens for pennies on the dollar. The pizza wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. The crust was more like oily, cheap, thin focaccia than cardboard. And the cheese was redolent of that salty, oily stuff they use at pizza hut. True, it has a strange texture, but it's tasty (which is a lot more i can say about some pizza in the cap region). So it's loud and obnoxious. Well... so are your kids. And even though you'll leave with a headache, especially if you indulge in some cheap beer, it's a good place to let your kids run around without having to pay by the hour. Plus if they get really good at ski-ball they may nail that scholarship to Yale.

When I was a kid I would have my birthday party at Chuck E Cheese every year until I was probably about 14. That being said, this new version doesn't come close to comparing to the old Northway Mall location. Its small and crowded and the pizza is the equivalent of frozen pizza. Maybe I didn't know any better as a kid but I remember the pizza always being great back then. They do still have some positives though. Its free to get in. The games are all one token each. And your kids get run around and scream as much as they want and no one cares!

The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant is great for a romantic evening or a quiet family dinner. We love that they have clearly marked on the menu all the vegan options and what is vegetarian to make ordering easy. Ordering online is simple but it's just as easy to call and place an order of you have any questions or concerns. This time I ordered a large pizza with vegan cheese. Half the pizza had artichokes and kalamata olives, the other half was topped with fresh sliced mushrooms and vegan sausage. No canned mushrooms here! I think its great that they know their ingredients. The Vegan cheese is always browned and properly melted. With that known, I ordered a pepperoni pizza, mild wings, and a calzone. To start, the wings were mediocre at best. To explain, the wings were not dry, but they were extremely bland and not crispy at all. I'm pretty sure they steam their wings instead of frying them which is just absurd. Believe it or not that was the best part of the meal. After that, I tried the pepperoni pizza which was awful. To breakdown, the crust tasted like cardboard and it was certainly frozen. Likewise, the sauce tasted artificial and definitely not homemade. In similar fashion, the cheese was terrible. It was not even cooked and it tasted artificial as well. It was simply an atrocious pizza. Now to the worst part of the meal, the calzone. To enumerate, the calzone was vile and downright insulting. The calzone was filled with nothing except cheese. Nothing else was in it. To make matters worse the cheese wasn't cooked. It was gooey, uncooked slop that I wouldn't feed a goat. It was the worst calzone that I've ever had. In the final outcome, Paesan's is an unmitigated failure and you would be a stunad to order from here.

DeFazio's has exploded in popularity in recent years because of rave reviews from pizza purists…read more It's critically acclaimed as not only one of the premier pizzerias in the Cap District, but some (me) say it's a top ranker across the country. And that ranking is well deserved. You get a strong familial feel walking into DeFazio's. If you're lucky enough to meet the Boss himself (he will actually be wearing a shirt that says "Boss"), he will give you a history lesson on the pizzeria, his family, and the state of pizz-ology Nationwide. He proudly proclaims that he is still The Sauce Guy around these parts because he has to keep up the quality control. There's something special about eating at a restaurant where the owner cares that much about the product, and they want you to as well. I encourage you to take the plunge and order the General Tso's pizza. It sounds insane, I know. But if you grew up eating this stuff, it will take you back to a time where you were traversing a mall food court and eating free samples (funny enough, that was the inspiration for this pizza). A lot of chicken-based pizzas will have red sauce as a base, but this is actually replaced with the Tso's special blend which has a beautiful sweet-heat to it. If you're coming here for the first time, it's nice to also balance a pizza like that out with a classic. Maybe a cheese or something similar. That way you can try out the red sauce and cheese in its purest form. I had the pleasure of walking through a cheese packing session that was going on in the restaurant, so I got to see that raw mozz up close, maybe 20 pounds of it. At that moment, I felt as though I was approaching enlightenment. When fully melted on that 'za, this cheese has the ideal mix of density and squish. DeFazio's has a special place in my heart. Your time here will make you feel like you are in a pizza sitcom. And you will leave with a feeling that you may have just had some of the best pizza of your life.

I haven't been to this original location on 4th St. in Troy for a few years. The family operation is nearly 100 years old. Remarkably, it's very much as I remember it. A tiny place with three tables. Some of the seating looks like repurposed church pews. The youthful staff, friendly as always. They were running into some delays as orders came pouring in just before dinnertime. They'd have to check to see if they could fit our order for a big pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and peppers. They squeezed us in! Since the wait would be between 20-30 minutes we kept ourselves busy by checking out the desserts in the self serve refrigerator. I picked out a slice of "hangover" (alcohol) cake and I devoured it before our meal arrived. It was so delicious and naughty fun to eat our dessert before the meal. The pizza was fantastic when it arrived. I prefer crisp crusts-- this one was not-- but it was awesome just the same. My friend and I were so hungry that we consumed half of the pie before I realized that we hadn't photographed our delicious pizza. The remaining half was boxed and taken home to be enjoyed for a couple more days. The staff was so ready. They came to our table with the box and we settled up our bill. A lot to be said for tradition and quality. I've also visited DeFazio's in Albany, but I have yet to visit the relatively new restaurant up the block. Thanks, DeFazio's, for another great meal.

The only things I believe they've kept in place from the original owners are the dough and sauce recipes. Other than that, this is not the Vintage Pizza that used to be. Today, I ordered 2 24 cut pizzas; 1 with extra pepperoni and extra cheese, the other half pepperoni and half cheese. I also ordered 40 boneless wings; 20 whoopie, and 20 hot. In the pictures I provided, you'll note a stark contrast between the pizza I received from Vintage in 2021 and today, 2023. I saw a previous review where a customer stated they use halal meats, and while I don't know if that's factual, I noticed a huge difference in the pepperoni. The pepperoni previously used was flavorful and crisped up nicely. The pepperoni I received on my pizza today was mostly rubbery in texture and bland in taste. There was extra cheese on the one pizza, as ordered. That, along with the dough, tasted okay. The boneless wing sauce left a lot to be desired. In the past, their hot sauce used to be hot, and their whoopie sauce used to be very hot. But now their hot sauce isn't spicy at all and tastes weird. Their whoopie sauce had some spice. But it's nothing to rave about. Especially when it's supposed to be a level up from hot sauce. Lastly, the new pricing is a big sticking point. I understand that supply costs have increased. But do the increased supply costs justify the nearly $15 increase of their Family Special #1 meal deal? And as you'll see in their ordering app, they also charge the full-toppings price when you order half-toppings. All in all, I'm pretty disappointed in the way this place has gone downhill. The quality of food you get for the price you pay is horrible. If left to choose between Vintage and a national chain like Domino's, I'm going with Domino's.
