    The dance floor

Everything has changed a lot since I was here last. No more animated critters, no ball pits, no tubes....but...the kids had a ball. They have an awesome dance floor with great music! They have tons of games abs cute little prizes. The kids had a blast!

Oh Yeah! I have been to some cruddy Chuck E Cheese's in my time. But this is not one of them. This one rocks. Would have been 5* if it had a larger play space and louder anamatronic stage-show. Yes, I said louder. This one is clean, and well lit. Most of the games/rides/amusements work. And even the big games that move, which cost $.50-$1.00 at crossgates are just one token. With coupons, that you can print from chuckecheese.com you can get those tokens for pennies on the dollar. The pizza wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. The crust was more like oily, cheap, thin focaccia than cardboard. And the cheese was redolent of that salty, oily stuff they use at pizza hut. True, it has a strange texture, but it's tasty (which is a lot more i can say about some pizza in the cap region). So it's loud and obnoxious. Well... so are your kids. And even though you'll leave with a headache, especially if you indulge in some cheap beer, it's a good place to let your kids run around without having to pay by the hour. Plus if they get really good at ski-ball they may nail that scholarship to Yale.

When I was a kid I would have my birthday party at Chuck E Cheese every year until I was probably about 14. That being said, this new version doesn't come close to comparing to the old Northway Mall location. Its small and crowded and the pizza is the equivalent of frozen pizza. Maybe I didn't know any better as a kid but I remember the pizza always being great back then. They do still have some positives though. Its free to get in. The games are all one token each. And your kids get run around and scream as much as they want and no one cares!

The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant is great for a romantic evening or a quiet family dinner. We love that they have clearly marked on the menu all the vegan options and what is vegetarian to make ordering easy. Ordering online is simple but it's just as easy to call and place an order of you have any questions or concerns. This time I ordered a large pizza with vegan cheese. Half the pizza had artichokes and kalamata olives, the other half was topped with fresh sliced mushrooms and vegan sausage. No canned mushrooms here! I think its great that they know their ingredients. The Vegan cheese is always browned and properly melted. You don't have to tell them extra crispy or well done, they aren't going to give you a pizza that does look and taste delicious! Anytime we are in the Latham area and looking for a place crowd pleaser where we can order for us and the rest of the family that doesn't eat vegan food, Midpoint is at the top of the list! I'm also a sucker for anything that resembles pasta, so when I saw pasta on a pizza, it was a must try. I'm heading back to Albany right now, and this will be the first thing I order to my hotel.

There is limited parking on the premises but always parking on the street if you don't mind some walking. The slightly rustic, lodge type of interior matches the friendly vibes as well as the interesting drink selections, including a side menu filled with signature coffee whiskey cocktails! Their tipsy cocktails and beer menu is also quite attractive. My group and I were able to walk in on a weekend evening for dinner with no wait and while it was packed inside, it still felt roomy enough. However, the surrounding tables were rowdy and the noise was reverberating. Our server was attentive though she did admit it was busy and the wait time for orders would take a bit longer than usual. The menu has plenty of starters that are highly shareable, poutine, salads, soups, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. Haven't had real poutine in ages so I decided to try their gravy fries with smoked cheese curds and added bacon. It was a good portion for the price ($15+) and came out hot on a cast iron skillet. The cheese curds weren't the type I expected and melted down too much, and did not have that squeaky cheese bite one would want in poutine. The gravy and the bacon worked well with the fries though! The smoked brisket French onion soup ($8+) was extremely hot when it first came out and I had to let it cool down before taking a spoonful. The cheese was so bubbly and delicious and the soup itself was flavorful (maybe a tad too salty), and had a balanced amount of onions and brisket. I would definitely get the soup again. Their barbecue pulled pork quesadilla ($15+) was also a bit too salty and meat was more tough than preferred. We also tried two of their mac and cheese selections, which came in a small cast iron pot each ($17+). The bacon chicken ranch mac and cheese was good but the jerk chicken mac and cheese was not as memorable (not much jerk flavor). Kudos for having a build-your-own mac and cheese option as well as a mac and cheese flight if you want to try more than one flavor. I'm glad to return to try other menu items at this tap and tavern and see what else catches my eye. While this visit wasn't spectacular, it also wasn't bad. The French onion soup is one thing I know I'd get over and over again. Oh, they also have a credit card transaction fee that you will see once you get the bill. Pay in cash if you mind said fee.

With that known, I ordered a pepperoni pizza, mild wings, and a calzone. To start, the wings were mediocre at best. To explain, the wings were not dry, but they were extremely bland and not crispy at all. I'm pretty sure they steam their wings instead of frying them which is just absurd. Believe it or not that was the best part of the meal. After that, I tried the pepperoni pizza which was awful. To breakdown, the crust tasted like cardboard and it was certainly frozen. Likewise, the sauce tasted artificial and definitely not homemade. In similar fashion, the cheese was terrible. It was not even cooked and it tasted artificial as well. It was simply an atrocious pizza. Now to the worst part of the meal, the calzone. To enumerate, the calzone was vile and downright insulting. The calzone was filled with nothing except cheese. Nothing else was in it. To make matters worse the cheese wasn't cooked. It was gooey, uncooked slop that I wouldn't feed a goat. It was the worst calzone that I've ever had. In the final outcome, Paesan's is an unmitigated failure and you would be a stunad to order from here.

I haven't been to this original location on 4th St. in Troy for a few years. The family operation is nearly 100 years old. Remarkably, it's very much as I remember it. A tiny place with three tables. Some of the seating looks like repurposed church pews. The youthful staff, friendly as always. They were running into some delays as orders came pouring in just before dinnertime. They'd have to check to see if they could fit our order for a big pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and peppers. They squeezed us in! Since the wait would be between 20-30 minutes we kept ourselves busy by checking out the desserts in the self serve refrigerator. I picked out a slice of "hangover" (alcohol) cake and I devoured it before our meal arrived. It was so delicious and naughty fun to eat our dessert before the meal. The pizza was fantastic when it arrived. I prefer crisp crusts-- this one was not-- but it was awesome just the same. My friend and I were so hungry that we consumed half of the pie before I realized that we hadn't photographed our delicious pizza. The only things I believe they've kept in place from the original owners are the dough and sauce recipes. Other than that, this is not the Vintage Pizza that used to be. Today, I ordered 2 24 cut pizzas; 1 with extra pepperoni and extra cheese, the other half pepperoni and half cheese. I also ordered 40 boneless wings; 20 whoopie, and 20 hot. In the pictures I provided, you'll note a stark contrast between the pizza I received from Vintage in 2021 and today, 2023. I saw a previous review where a customer stated they use halal meats, and while I don't know if that's factual, I noticed a huge difference in the pepperoni. The pepperoni previously used was flavorful and crisped up nicely. The pepperoni I received on my pizza today was mostly rubbery in texture and bland in taste. There was extra cheese on the one pizza, as ordered. That, along with the dough, tasted okay. The boneless wing sauce left a lot to be desired. In the past, their hot sauce used to be hot, and their whoopie sauce used to be very hot. But now their hot sauce isn't spicy at all and tastes weird. Their whoopie sauce had some spice. But it's nothing to rave about. Especially when it's supposed to be a level up from hot sauce. Lastly, the new pricing is a big sticking point. I understand that supply costs have increased. But do the increased supply costs justify the nearly $15 increase of their Family Special #1 meal deal? And as you'll see in their ordering app, they also charge the full-toppings price when you order half-toppings. All in all, I'm pretty disappointed in the way this place has gone downhill. The quality of food you get for the price you pay is horrible. If left to choose between Vintage and a national chain like Domino's, I'm going with Domino's.
