Vegan Thai? That's what I thought, wondering what's the hype. But now I'm like, OMG Vegan Thai ! Vegan chicken? Vegan duck? Vegan Beef? I always used to run away from the word vegan. ChuChai you guys know how to make a vegan dish taste amazing. I would definitely try vegan food again especially if it's from ChuChai. Every dish we ordered was made to perfection. It not only tasted delicious but the vegan fish tasted and looked just like FISH. We started with some appetizers: Kiao Satay, Het Waan Krob and Gai Satay. My favourite was the Het Waan Krob. You guys made a simple mushroom into a delicious appetizer. It was yummy. For our mains we got Tom Yum soup, Pad Keemao, Kao Pad Pak (Fried rice), Kang Daeng Gai, Khiao Wan Koung with Shrimp. I don't know which one was better or which one best. I loved every dish. The combination of fried rice with red curry, along with veggies was just delicious. Even my family members who don't like veggies were gobbling it down. Even one of my family members said: "they will change to vegan if ChuChai opens in Toronto." Now that's a big deal for a carnivore to say. Anyone in Montreal should definitely try this place and make sure to reserve in advance since they are usually very busy. To end our night we got Fried Banana with maple syrup and mango with rice. It was a weird combination, mango and rice, but you know what? It was sooo delicious! Yes rice with mango was delicious. It's fried rice with condensed milk and slices of mango. Definitely unique and great food. Shoutout to Anna who was our server (owner of the restaurant). It's hard to find a good server who is a great business owner too.

ChuChai is a great place for vegan food. The decor is beautiful and modern. Staff is extremely helpful and kind. There are no many vegan Thai options available. I was very excited to try ChuChai. It turned out to be a great place for dinner. We had the beetle leaf with crispy shredded coconut lime slice and house made sauce ($12), the Ped Palo ($20), crispy vegan duck with spinach and soy sauce and the royal pad Thai ($16). Overall, the restaurant lives up to the hype. The appetizer was fresh and herbaceous. The crispy duck was delicious and flavourful. We both felt we had a beet too much to eat. Look forward to trying other dishes next time we are in Montreal.

I ordered the Pad Thai for delivery via UberEats. The meal came quickly and was exactly as I expected. The portion is generous and filling, and comes with vegan shrimp, vegan chicken, fried tofu, and ground peanuts. ChuChai has an extensive menu with a wide array of mock meats and seafood, noodle dishes, appetizers, etc. Although everything is vegan, it's still hearty, delicious, and authentic Thai food - none of that kale and avocado BS. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Another interesting vegetarian Asian fine dining restaurant that I see pop up in trendy areas all around the world. My family were the only Asian family that night so it was telling who the restaurant caters to. The food is hit or miss and like most of these types of places focus on imitating meat. Portions were generally small. One thing I did like was that you don't get the pungent smell and taste of fish sauce that is so heavily used in Thai cuisine. Some of the dishes like the rice and pad thai were overly sweet though without that saltiness mask. The crispy duck matched the texture of the meat and fat without the accompanying fatty taste and was done better than many other places. The dumplings in peanut sauce were just too sweet. Everything else was comparable to the cheaper mom & pop vegetarian places around the world.

First of all, I did not realize that this restaurant only served vegan food until I got the menu. Although I am not a vegan, it did not stop me from ordering their food. We ordered spring roll, pad thai, which has vegan shrimp and vegan chicken and panang curry with vegan beef. I was really curious about vegan shrimp. The flavor of the dishes were pretty good, but I've had better Thai food before. The texture of vegan shrimp was interesting since I've never encountered them before. I think they did a good job at creating vegan versions those shrimp and meat. We sat out on the patio... it was just nice to be out in nice weather, eating good food. Food 3/5 but overall experience 4/5.

Vegan in Montreal: a must visit for any veg fans in Montreal, and everyone else too! // The food here is absolutely amazing, and a really special treat with some unique options for those focusing on the vegan side of life. I went with a non-veggie person and we both enjoyed our meal so much. I friend insisted we try the "duck"... and they were right! We added dumplings, imperial rolls, and "shrimp" and each dish was excellent. Overall can't recommend enough.

Went here for a family dinner on a cold night. One half of the place is reserved for the restaurant and the other half is reserved for the bar. Didn't really know what to expect since everything was vegan and it took a while for me to choose what I wanted off the menu. Our table ended up ordering a bunch of different things to share which was a good way to taste a little bit of everything. My favourites were the 3 flavours vegan beef, the crispy vegan duck and the fried rice. The sauces on these dishes were EXCELLENT and really brought it all together. Overall this place exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed my food.

We passed by this Thai restaurant as we were walking along Rue Duluth. We noticed high ratings on Yelp and decided to give it a try. This restaurant is all vegan. At first my carnivore husband wasn't sure, but they he decided to give it a try. They had fake meat made out of soy. We ordered the following: - Kary Puff (Crispy pastry filled with vegetables and yellow curry): DELICIOUS - Red Curry with vegetables: This was a bit spicy for me. The waiter was nice enough to take it back and made it mild. The curry was very flavorful and I absolutely enjoyed it. Overall, a great place for some vegetarian food.

First thing: Im not vegan So when a starving meat lover needs food, it better be good and filling so this place blew my mind. A couple of my friends are vegan - you know, the cool kind who dont bust meat lover's chops ... so I trusted them when they said this place was great. Im really open to trying vegan restos. I love trying new things. I got chicken pad thai and I could hardly taste the difference between real chicken and chicken flavoured tofu. I was so impressed!!! I was expecting something with a not so usual but tolerable after taste but it wasnt the case ( that probrably doesnt even make sense but wtv ). It was tasty and bursting with flavour Its definitely a good place for a Vegan to bring non vegan friends and everyone is happy. Vegans get to do their vegan thing and meat lovers will feel completely satisfied. I would definitely come back here!

Som tam (green papaya salad) and larb ped (mock duck salad)

Haven't had good vegetarian/vegan Thai food in over a decade. We are visiting Montreal and decided to give this place a try. Som tam and larb ped were delicious and actually had a good level of heat! Highly recommend these two dishes if you go. Entrees don't come with rice, so you have to order a side dish if you'd like a carb to accompany your meal. Overall really great vegetarian fare and great service from the bilingual staff.

Best vegan Thai place in Montreal. Great portions and service, the cocktails are great here especially matched with their spicy meals. I like to go here late nights because it gets crowded at early dinner time. I often get the tofu drunken noodle (pad Thai) and it never disappoints!!

Working in Montreal for the week and it's dinner time! I did my usual Yelp'ing and landed on Pamika…read moreThai! Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the street in downtown is this gem. It's got a small footprint on the outside, but inside is a different story! It's so beautiful and intimate in here. The floors and the ceilings are darker colors giving a more intimate vibe. The decor is AMAZING and transports you to an entirely different country. The vibes were very intimate, romantic and definitely a place you want to be. Service: Glenn was my bartender as I sat at the bar and he was awesome. He was funny, witty and made sure I had the best time possible. I also would like to shout out Benjamin as well. He's the director of the restaurant and also made sure I had a good time. Food/Drinks: I started off with the Le Vieux Cajou, which is Buffalo Trace whiskey infused with cashews, spicy coriander syrup then a few dashes of both Angostura and chocolate bitter. This drink sounds so out there, but it was so smooth, oaky, a bit nutty, mildly sweet, very tasty, robust, woody. I really liked it. I saw so many things on the menu that I wanted to try that I couldn't make up my mind so I opted for the tasting menu! Here's how it went! Out first was the Fried papaya salad which consists of deep-fried green papaya and carrots, fried shrimp, fresh chilies, tomatoes, long beans and peanuts. This was very tasty with that good spicy sauce on top. I loved the sweetness with the salt and the heaviness of the fried batter. Absolutely delicious. Never had anything like it before. My only complaint is that the shrimp didn't pull all the way out of their shells like I'm used to. Lol. Next up was the Khao Soi which is a dish comprised of egg noodles, chicken drumsticks, a quail egg, pickled choy, limes, coriander, red onions and khao soy sauce. This dish was a bit spicy, with flavors just all over the place in a great way. LOVED the rich curry flavor, super aromatic. Lastly was the Set Tum Thai which is That BBQ pork shoulder served with sticky rice and a papaya salad. It was SUPER flavorful pork and an amazing spicy sauce. Rice was nice and sticky to calm the flavors down. Well-balanced. Value: It's more upscale and "modern" Thai cusine so you have to pay for it. Lol. All prices are in $CAD. My first drink was $14.00. The tasting menu was $85.00. Absolutely worth it. In conclusion, I loved this place, what it represented and how everything was executed. I highly encourage you to check this place out! Thank you for reading.

The servers seemed busy but it took a while for every step of the way so I think they could use a bit more help. The other thing that was a bit unfortunant was the amount of fruit flies that were around. One or two isnt an issue but we were having to swipe away one pretty consistantly. That being said, the food itself was pretty decent overall. Ill go over the so-so stuff first. We were trying to get the vegiterian papaya salad but apparently there is fish sauce in it that cant be removed so I am not sure why they label it as vegiterian optional. (Thats a bit of a pet peeve of mine since people probably dont even ask if it is labeled as vegiterian). The phad thai was decent with strechy noodles and fried tofu which is something we look for but the peanuts were all clumpped together as if they had been stored for a while. Not nessasarily a bad thing but califlour was also one of the vegtables which is an interesting choice. On the good end, the bak egg roles were crisp and had good flavores especially when adding the sauce. They gave us the chicken one on accident at first but figured out their mistake before we had any. The drink was also very refreshing. The egg wash was smooth and sweet which complimented the tart and fruity drink. The atmosphere itself was interesting. The long marbel X shaped table that centered the room was something I hadnt seen anywhere else. It seemed a bit akward at first but the lights and bar made it work more. The lamps seemed like a nice touch that added depth and a warm lighting to the room. I always like when lights are hung together at a different hights to give that depth. Overall probably not one I would go back to.

It had a welcoming feel and a great cooking smell upon entry. I was seated promptly at a table near the front windows. The water had a metallic taste but was better with a squeeze of lime. After some debate and a few questions to my server Luig, I decided upon the vegan Pad Thai. While waiting for my meal I noticed a group being seated an explained the menu. Soon after my meal arrived well presented and served with thicker than average chopsticks which were easier to use than some. Interestingly, they eat pad thai with a fork in Thailand, so that was a bit of a faux pas in my opinion. The portion was reasonable, but not large by any stretch. The plate contained al dente broccoli and cauliflower, rectangle shaped fried tofu chunks, crushed peanuts, bean sprouts, green onions and semi-wide noodles with good chew. Notably the dish was not too spicy which seems to be what proper Pad Thai should be. Also notable was the reasonable (for these crazy times) $14 menu price for my sit down meal. Nice to see there are Thai restaurants that give options for more authenticity than the quick serve ones.

I ate there for the first time a couple of years ago, and then again last Friday evening. I am not sure why it took me so long to go again (perhaps it is simply the distance from home) as the food is quite good! For only $10.50, vegetarians (like my husband and I) can choose from several great menu options; I recommend both the Tofu General Tao, as well as the Tofu Curry with Eggplant. Meat plates take most of the menu however so if you are omnivorous, you will surely find something that will please you as well! I would say that the best was the Chicken Pad Thai and the salad then the vegetable curry and then the Beef Basil. The Pad Thai had a great flavour of the wok and was respectfully generous with chicken. The Veg Curry nada good assortment of vegetables. A small (and little disappointing) portion of rice was given. The Beef Basil was the least because I'm use to a very fragrant version of the dish This was good, but I've had better at other Thai places. Restaurant is tastefully decorated and nice Thai music was playing in the background.
