Chuan Shabu is a place I've been going to very often for quite some time now. It's only about 10-15 away from home and it always hits the spot when I'm craving hotpot but don't want to drive down to Boston. Their portions are HUGE for being AYCE, you get a DIY sauce bar that has many options to choose from to make a perfect dipping sauce, and it's a pretty good price to pay for their dinner menu. Meat quality is nice and their seafood is good too, but I don't get it often cause it does cause a stomachache sometimes. We always go for the super mala broth - don't be fooled by the name because it isn't as spicy as you think (at least for me). Service is ALWAYS amazing. My friends and family have gone so much, they remember everything! From our names to drink and food orders haha. Iris and Leo are hands down the sweetest. Taj is very funny - we rarely get him but he always cracks jokes to us and has a lively attitude.

As much as I'd love the hot pot here, I ordered the Chinese dishes for take out and I'm a little underwhelmed. The twice cooked porkbelly was bland and didn't really taste like anything. The chicken was not even spicy despite all those peppers! Chicken was actually a little dry and didn't seem freshly fried. The crab Rangoons were the best part, can't go wrong with crab Rangoons! Overall, this was a little disappointing compared to their hot pot. These sichuan was not sichuaning!

Went there for all you can eat lunch with my husband-fast service and the wait staff were all so polite and helpful. Come hungry! Tons of options with hot pot add ins (meat, veg and noodles/rice). They also have a make your own sauce bar with tons of options. I'm a vegetarian and the staff were super helpful about letting me know which items and sauces may have fish sauce in them

Food: They have ACYE hot pot style, with many fresh vegatables & protien selction. We choose the Tom-Yom & Super Mala broth which were decent, it could use more depth and seasoning to enhance the overall experience. The super mala wasn't as spicy as I thought and the Tom Yom just didnt have that bold, herbal flavors. Adding extra seasonings like a little extra spice or herbs or even better peppers could enhance better flavors. They do have a sauce section where you can grab it yourself and add to your brooth or use it as dipping. The selection of protein with a few premium is avaliable is solid, but the taste in quality just did not meet my expecatation as it was a bit tough. All the vegatables were fresh, and seafood was well prepared which I enjoyed. I also had thier noodles & crab rangoons for take-out which was rather dry, so perhaps take out wouldn't be my thing to do here. I gave this place another chance, and it is better than the last time. Overall, its a solid option to go to satisfy the craving during the colde season. Service: The service was fine, most staff tend to mind thier business and will arrive when you need something. Most of this is a help yourself kind of thing when it comes to cooking your own food or getting your own sauces. I believe they can be more attentive when needed. Ambiance: It recently just featured moremodern decor with touches of traditional elements that reflect its hot pot theme. The space is designed for communal dining, with large tables that encourage sharing and socializing. Warm lighting and vibrant colors create an inviting environment, making it a great spot for gatherings, Location accommodation: They have a parking right to the right of the resturant but you can park in the TD bank lot and walk right over.

Ordered from Chuan Shabu because it was open on the later side. It looks like it's open until 11pm on the weekends if you're in a pinch. The menu is thick and contains an entire vegetarian section, which I appreciate. As far as their appetizers go, they have egg rolls, tofu TEMPURA which is intriguing, a thousand different kind of wings, peking ravioli, crab rangoon, scallion pancakes but dumplings are noticeably absent. They also have some stuff that makes vegetarians like me shift around in their seat like frog legs, beef and pork tongue, and tripe. I just hope the tripe is on a different shelf in the fridge from the veggies and tofu. Yelp is now asking if I "got any more to add?" lmao I just got started! They have essentially every szechuan category you could want (coming from a white person) and I can see from other reviews they have good hot pot. I was never partial to burning the shit out of my mouth because I have no patience but I BELIEVE they have that as an option for delivery too. However, I am not sure how that would fare swishing around in the driver's car en route to your place. We ordered scallion pancakes, kung pao tofu, and basil fried rice with tofu. I also haven't had bubble tea in AGES so I decided to treat mah'self. I shouldn't need to tell you that I ordered taro because if you don't get taro, did you really even get bubble tea? Scallion pancakes- not as crisp as I would like, the dough is pretty raw and it fails the flap-back-and-forth test. As far as the taste goes, it satisfies my scallion pancake craving. Basil fried rice- absolutely delicious. I approve of the vegetable to rice ratio. I do think a sizable portion of its deliciousness is that it is VERY salty, beware if you're watching your blood pressure. I also like the option to add tofu, which isn't available for the regular veggie fried rice. Don't tell the basil growing on my porch. Kung Pao Tofu- I'm not super familiar with kung pao, I don't usually order it, so I can't speak for it as far as relative to other kung paos but this is GOOD. There is a ton of sauce mingling around with the peanuts and veggies and things. Just like in the basil fried rice, I like the ability to add tofu here, and the tofu at this place is very good. It's more rectangular than cube-like and it's fried perfectly. I still can't get the thought of tripe out of my head tho. Taro bubble tea- CRACK. Seriously, you don't need to pick up drugs if you have a place that sells this shit in your vicinity.

Oh man! I cannot figure out where to start!!! Alright, THIS PLACE RULES! I've been comin' here for a while and it's always been amazing every time and they are SO good to me when I go! I usually always have hotpot when I go, but ordering from the menu never disappoints! If I'm gonna order apps, the 'goons and frog legs are my go-to. For the hotpot, Tom yum and the kimchi are my broths of choice. The beef tripe has always been a favorite for me, across allllllll different types of dishes. Alongside the tripe, I've been starting to get the beef tongue lately, real tasty. Don't leave 'em in the broth though, they'll get real tough/chewy. A few long swishes in the rumbling broth should do the trick :) And, the best part of hotpot- Pickin' out the sauces. It is a bit overwhelming when you first go, but DONT WORRY!!! You'll find what you like! Here's mine, try it out if you're looking for some ideas. *grab a bowl* Oyster sauce, ginger soy, bbq(not what you're thinking), garlic, soy, hot oil, hoisin, fish sauce and a few scallions. Great for everything, meats, seafood, veg! Hope this sparks the interest of a curious eater and helps someone who's a bit nervous for their first time hotpot visit! Cheers!

Its like the only couple hot pot places in town of Worcester. I would think that this place is great already. Pretty authentic and etc. I mean they even have sauce bar. I do know some places you have to pay extra for sauces. The price is fair for what they have to offer $25 to 30. If I remember. I came while visiting my friend in town. We came here for lunch before I left that day back to Seattle. It wasn't busy when we got there so we got seated right away. There couple of kind of broth you can pick and choose from. Some cost extra some don't. They have huge varieties of options of meat, seafood, veggie, and weird stuff you can choose from. Overall, I would be back here again. I mean it's a college town middle of no where. If they even have hot pot shop I would be happy. I remembered when my college town don't have anything authentic from my culture. Sucks but it is what it is. Great place to go for cold/rainy weather as well.

If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would! I can't even begin to describe how amazing the service was. Taj (I hope i spelled your name right) was incredible. I wish every server was like him. The food is also delicious!! I highly recommend this to anyone who is in the area. So incredible. I also want to mention how clean and refreshing this place is.

The pork looks terrible and add too much salt, making it not edible. There is one Chinese guy who is waiter and he is arrogant.

Should someone with peanut allergies be worried about eating here>\?

They have dishes/sauces with peanuts. If you are very sensitive, I would use caution.

We asked for waters as well and let the waiter, who was always available, know when we needed a refill. Everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. I had expected a bit more spice on some of the dishes, but they were all very mild, so if you are worried about Sichuan spiciness or heat, you can put that worry to rest. Chopsticks only are at the table and although we didn't ask for forks, I suspect they could rustle some up for you if needed. The hot & sour soup is good according to my SO who gets it everywhere (and will let me know if it's a thumbs up or down). The décor is lovely and everything is clean, including the gender neutral restroom. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and service was excellent. They did a good amount of take out business during our visit. Free on-street parking was easy to find during our week day lunch visit.

Could taste all the flavors in the 3 cup, really good. General tso was good but not too spicy. Fried rice was solid. All in all, an excellent meal

From the very attentive and supportive staff to the intricate details that they have throughout the restaurant , it is truly transformative experience. As for the food, if you're in the mood of something spicy, especially that Sichuan type of heat, then the beef soup is the one for you! I personally would recommend the green pepper pork because it was absolutely delicious! I could not stop eating it and it was just perfect in every which way! Looking forward to coming here again to try many other delicious foods and will probably bring a couple of more friends because their group seating is absolutely stunning!

Limited Street Parking…read more The food made up for the wait time but it was very long. This place was packed, we came in no reservation and the wait time they told us just kept getting longer. We eventually were able to get in, there is a small space to wait with snacks though. Once our table was almost ready the host allowed us to order and once sat it came almost right away. We ordered the la-xi chicken with less spice, this has small crispy chicken pieces and lot of peppers, had to go in and pick out the little pieces. Truthfully wish it was less pepper and more chicken especially $23.95. The mapo tofu was delicious the perfect numbing sensation that I love. A must try dish was the fish fillet with crispy rice. This was $34 but it is perfect for cold day. They bring this dish out pour the soup on top and let it boil until the crispy gets cooked. We got the green beans as well, pretty standard nothing special. We got a little discount as well, I think for a late night special. The entire meal came with tea and the restaurant had calm setting with wooden interior

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.
