Ever since they switched to a new billing process about a year ago things have been terrible…read more Invoices are sent super late and even when paid within a day they will still hit you with late fees. Not sure if that's a way to generate extra revenue but we have cancelled our account. Plenty of other propane delivery companies out there! Good bye!

"Customer service" is supposed to be about offering service to the customer, correct?…read moreFor the very first time, after being faithful customers for 23 years with this company, we ran out of propane this morning. Upon calling to find out why our service was stopped, my husband was actually yelled at by the first woman he spoke with. She treated him as though he were a delinquent, trying to scam her! Their mode of business/payment is...they fill the tank, then leave the invoice on a doorknob. Ours had been left outside on a rainy November day on the ground next to a door we rarely use. So the payment was very late. Upon discovery, my husband called immediately and made the payment. He was told that this would not interrupt our service at all. Then they thanked him for making the payment. Today he had the phone on speaker, so I heard the entirety of the conversations. He was so very patient with this woman's' unprofessional attitude. She was rude, disorganized, disrespectful, repeated herself multiple times, and when she didn't like a question he asked, she just raised her voice to get him to stop speaking. The second woman he spoke with was SO condescending it was ridiculous. She kept repeating things very slowly as if he wasn't understanding what she was saying. I might add...my husband is a very successful businessman who has dealt with the public and bookkeepers for 40+ years. He's extremely sharp. He was asking an entirely different question. But she just kept repeating her answer to the previous question. Both these women have absolutely no business being in customer service. We are business owners ourselves. My husband said if our employees treated our customers this way, they would be fired. They told us because our payment was so late that we no longer qualify for their automatic refill program. Now we have to request a refill, then be home when they come to refill, and pay them on the spot. We asked why they don't let people set up automatic refills and payments with a credit card. We received no satisfactory answer. But they did take my husband's credit card out of their file and charged him more than they needed to, before they would send a driver out to fill our tank. I know, I know. It doesn't make any sense at all. This company sort of has a monopoly on propane services around here. I guess that's why they don't really seem to care much about customer service, even to people who have been faithful customers for over 23 years. I will add this: my husband called again and spoke with a gentleman I'm sorry I don't know his name. He took care of things immediately. I won't go into all the details, except to say this, HE should be running their customer service department! Believe it or not, I have actually left out details about the extra fees the women tried to charge us, along with all the rather insulting comments they gave my husband about missing a payment. I would just say if you call and a woman picks up the phone, hang up and call back and hope you get the guy!

PacWest was GREAT. They were "forced/priced" to "retire". Suburban Propane's 1st story was PW 'went…read moreout of business' & SP had 'taken over' all PW customers. Their refill quote in February was triple the price of propane at gas stations, due to my 'low consumption'. I told them to pound sand and make an appointment with me for tank removal. They sent several tank rental fee letters with past due charges; with no proof of ownership, no past, current or new contract, nothing but a bill; 5 red flags. I called again to refute the charge & they said tank removal would cost me $150; 50% more than a year of rent conveniently. I should send them a past due STORAGE fee. This is America and I will choose who provides my services. They did not acknowledge my first conversation, their story NOW was PW owner "retired"; red flag! Past due charges after I refuse any business with them and tell them to retrieve the tank! SP does not own that contract u had with PW. Shop around. Buy a 60 gallon tank or two and fill at a station. Have a handyman assist. SP's practices will have you paying 2 to 3 times or EVEN MORE than necessary. They downplayed all their negative reviews; red flag! THIS IS AMERICA & unfortunately capitalism can mean the big invisible corporation will force the 5 star local businesses out & jack prices up each time they gobble up another. Self Protection is what SP should stand for; BUYER BEWARE. Thank goodness for YELP! I was lucky to have read up on SP. The sound of my head popping out of nowhere land was LOUD. Do not say yes, do not sign, do accept propane, do not pay for rental or removal I to a company you did not contract with. Ask them to remove your info from your records. Record your phone calls with them, at least take very good notes. Happy & Safe 4th to all; FREEDOM!

They also installed a wi-fi receptor to inform me and the company when my tank gets to 20% and someone automatically comes out to refill. couldn't ask for better/easier servicing.
