Al Pastor taco... Dry and bland
    Paul A.

Ordered grubhub for lunch and just paid $17.40 for their surf & turf burrito that was about 90% beans and rice. I probably got one bite of asada and it had maybe 3 shrimp. Also ordered 2 al pastor tacos... Very dry... Flavorless. Will not order from here again.

Not good at all it's all bland best tacos are the taco stand or the trucks better food for your money. This place was dirty and food was not good at all

Ok. I found this kinda off putting. I think this was or will be our last time here. So, hubby was with me, I stayed in the car (CTScan), pulled up and hubby runs in to order my nacho's. I had a coupon for a free drink upon check in, sent hubby the screen shot of said coupon. They (Chronic) wanted my cell since I'm the only one using Yelp. And we're in a pandemic, were you planning on touching my cellphone? Yes, I hit the use now and it clearly shows how much time I had left. Screenshot to hubby. Yet when he went back in with my cell and they said because I hit use it now,was a no go on their end. Fact: anything that's ordered from the fountain drink area is around $.50 with the cup. Well Chronic Taco's you may have lost a customer over $.50. ‍ Bad Intel from hubby. Edit in play. A very nice customer in back of hubby nodded when hubby explained how spicy I like my food. I love Ghost Pepper's and some times that's not enough heat for me. Carolina Reaper is awesome tho. ;-) Nice Customer, knew instantly how spicy I like my food. Thank you. This is more about principal, not a soda. For the new girl behind the counter you get 5 stars, to the woman (Manager, who knows) you get minus 5 stars. When you were asked by the young lady on what to do, instead of doing it right as a lead for the person taking orders, you failed the new worker. Please learn the menu and 5 stars for the food as well. BTW: we are in the 100 degrees area and hubby had to go back and forth to me 4X not cool. We may look younger here due to our ethnicity, we are in our mid 50's. First time, "We don't have nacho's" screenshot to hubby's cell from my Yelp account. Wow, magic occurred and suddenly they had nacho's, wrong on Chronic Taco's. 2-3-4 all had to do with the coupon and Yelp, never had this type of issues in the past. You (Female Manager) only had 1 job, train your new people. Try kindness too, like hubby showed you. Some advice, perhaps a change in career is needed. Best of luck to the young lady running the til. Pretty sure you'll be a great manager.

Small place but great ambiance…read moreand even better service and to wrap it all up is a gorgeous meal Ordered Kale Salad: 3/5 - If you need a good palette cleanser then this is a good one to have. You can't really go wrong with a the kale version of a house salad however there are plenty of other options you could order Scallop Crudo: 5/5 - So incredibly blown away by this? I don't think I've scallop this good in years. Melts in your mouth, the sauce is light but perfectly pairs with the fish. I could not get over this one Gambas Al Ajillo: 5/5 - If I could lick the plate clean publicly and without discrimination I would've. The sauce reminded me of some of the best pasta ive ever had. The shrimp was big and well marinated, oh what fun this one was! It was a crime this didn't have more bread to soak it in. I'm not just leaving money on the table, I'm leaving bliss. Potatoes: 5/5 - These were really good! I loved the heat this had and the sauce to go with it. The seasoning great, the skin was crispy but still a soft moist potato inside. These were great to share. Paella Mariscos - 4.5/5 - After everything we had this was a fairly good portion for 3 people even though it says it serves 2 (I still stand by the 2 serving if you don't have much tapas). With that said I think this was a little more on the simpler side when it came to flavor. You could tell it wasn't trying to do too much while still letting you know she's the star of the show. There was a good amount of seafood all of which was cooked really well. The rice was perfect and the sauce ratio was great as well. I had some the next day and it was even better. I really think those scallops just stayed in my mind the whole night. Bread Pudding - 4/5 - I really appreciated the creativity behind reinventing the bread pudding! It was like a cinnamon roll esc type which was a fun but not blow me out of the water dessert. With that said everything on there looked so good so my eye is on the key lime next. Wine: The Albarino was great! I've never heard of it but was a fan favorite. Paired great with all the food. For 3 the total came out to $280 (with tip) which wasn't that bad. Service: 5/5 I forgot our servers name but he was so sweet! He gave us his recs, checked in on us frequently and was accommodating. I also feel like he was serving a lot of tables so his service was stellar! Ambiance: 5/5 The place is tinnyyy but man I am obsessed with the interior. Its swanky without it being pretentious. Intimate feeling but can feel the atmosphere. Not sure what the noise level was like inside, we were outside (two tables on the sidewalk), but it seems like it could get a little loud. Parking: N/A - Its a prime spot on ventura, only metered so...can't really knock the place off that. Really excited to come back here! Hopefully in the near future!

The staff was very friendly, and the owner checked in frequently to make sure we were enjoying everything. We ordered the patatas bravas, fries, mushroom bruschetta, asparagus, calamari, octopus, and branzino. Every dish was delicious and perfect for sharing between 2-3 people. For dessert, we had the cheesecake with strawberry sauce, which was amazing. They also have a great wine selection and delicious sangria. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would love to come back to try more dishes. 10/10 -- highly recommend!

My group tried several dishes to share as they are on the smaller side. Seating was a bit cramped and the place was packed for a weekend brunch. Lamb hummus ($19) - This consisted of braised ground lamb served over some hummus and fresh pita. The pita was so pillowy soft and fresh out of the oven. The hummus consistency was a little on the chunkier side and not as creamy as I had hoped for. Bacari burger open faced ($15) - The beef is grass fed and came with caramelized onions, Worcestershire aioli, telera roll, and a fried egg. Although it was on the smaller side the burger wasn't bad taste wise. Lamb shakshouka pizza ($16.50) - This was served with pilpelchuma, arugula, red onion, goat cheese emulsion, and egg. The crust was too thin for my liking, almost cracker like and the sauce over powered the pizza, couldn't even taste the lamb. Brussels sprouts ($15.5) - These were caramelized and served with pomegranate molasses creme fraiche and julienne beets. This is a must get side when dining here. Shawarma chicken tacos ($16 for 3) - These had shredded cabbage, pickled red onion, sesame, and garlic tahini. I wasn't impressed, they were a little too plain. Crab cake benedict ($13) - Breaded claw meat, grapefruit hollandaise, and a sous vide egg rounded out this dish. It wasn't bad taste wise. Chicken schnitzel ($20.5) - This came with whipped feta, arugula-mint salad, and sumac onion. The batter was over cooked and too crispy. For dessert my group tried a pistachio sfoglia ($12) which had some great tasting pistachio cream. Although I felt the dish was over priced it wasn't bad. However my group prefered the bread pudding ($9.50) which came with clover honey custard and vanilla ice cream. Overall the food wasn't bad, they have some creative ideas. Service was a little off, but the manager apologized for some missteps in some of the dishes and adjusted the bill accordingly.

In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.
