I had been a faithful Christo's customer for decades when the restaurant was still in Brockton. This Christo's to Go is a sorry shadow of the REAL Christo's in every way, both in terms of the quality of the food and the service. I didn't expect the same level of restaurant quality food with take out, but I also didn't expect dried out cold lamb, missing items from my order and a surly response from the indifferent owner/manager. Still miss the OG real Christos (Gold room anyone?) but this does in a pinch. Price is hefty, but it's generally really consistently good. Easy in and out but adhere to t what they tell you on timing. It's not going to be ready ahead of time. Greek salad is fresh and proper. Pizza is done right. When I heard that Christio's had closed I was sad. Then I came back up from Texas to visit Massachusetts and realized they opened a to-go scaled down version. I was glad. If I'm being honest I only ever got their salads or pizza. So I'm not disappointed that they scaled down. It was always a bit extravagant with their "gold rooms" etc. The pizza is just as I remember. The Greek pizza quickly became one of my all time favorites. Green beans are fantastic as well.

This pizza has gone downhill since it moved from Brockton. I might as well be eating cardboard, there's barley any sauce and the dough is so thick and dry. Whitman is pretty limited when it comes to finding decent takeout so I really was hoping to like this place. We have ordered takeout from here twice and my boyfriend picked it up both times. The first time we ordered a pizza, salad with grilled chicken and the Mac and cheese. It wasn't ready when my boyfriend arrived and he when it finally was, he realized the salad did not have the grilled chicken he asked for and had to wait longer for them to cook the chicken. He was unaware that the Mac and cheese had to be cooked at home but that was no biggie. The second time we ordered a pizza and and a salad with grilled chicken again. My boyfriend should have remembered the first incident and checked for the chicken but didn't realize that it was missing until he got home. He left the house and called to tell them the chicken was missing on his way back. He waited 25 minutes for them to grill a tiny piece of chicken. At this point his pizza was cold and we shouldn't have even bothered with going back for the chicken. They even charged him extra for the chicken that they initially forgot to include!! The food itself is pretty good and I would normally give them another chance had they been apologetic about the mistake and not charged my boyfriend extra for their mistake. read more

Loved the old restaurant and was happy to find the " mini me" location. Have visited every time I am in area as we go thru the salad dressing so fast and bar type pizza is my favorite. Got the Greek lamb this trip and taste was very good ( sold cold - they make sure you are aware of this ) but it did not have any rice in container when I got home, this was a must have at old restaurant and suggest you add this to future dishes. Read some comments regarding sister owners Gigi and Maria and they are making their father proud. Hard tradition to keep up but they are killing it! read more

I ordered 3 small Greek salads one with extra dressing which I did not receive but was charged for it and three pizzas cooked light because we heard they over cook them. The salad was fair, feta cheese was all stuck together. It was mostly lettuce. The pizza average. This is not my once favorite Christo's. The bill came to 53.95 which I thought was high. I'm so sad because we loved the Christo's in Brockton, but this is a whole different animal. When Christo's's to go first open, it was pretty close to the old Christo's's. Unfortunately it went downhill fast. We have had hair in our food multiple times. Everything seems to be lower quality. And also it seems like they changed the recipe of their dressing or the ingredients they use because it is not the same at all. Heard a lot of great reviews about the old Christo's so thought I would check it out. The chicken lemon soup was good but I don't see what all the hype is with the salads. I asked on the phone if a large was enough for 2 people to share and was told yes. There was maybe half a chicken breast cut up, definitely not enough for 2 people. $16 for a bowl of soup and a grilled chicken Greek salad seems a bit pricey for the small salad portion. The service could also be better, very unorganized and chaotic while waiting in the small area. I called in my order and it took a total of 45 minutes for a bowl of soup and a "large" Greek salad with chicken. Thought about grabbing a menu to take home to give them another chance but they don't even have any. read more

I moved to Montana two years ago and was disappointed when I learned that the original restaurant had shut down. When I came back to Massachusetts for the holidays this year and heard that there was a to go place, well, I had to go and see if this was the same stuff I remembered! Then I decided to read some yelp reviews before calling in the order. I was a little hesitant, but my friends and I decided to give it a shot because we only had good memories of the establishment--if our experience didn't meet our expectations we wouldn't allow the old Christo's image to be tarnished in our hearts or in our minds. I grew up on Christo's and to be honest I'm not sure if it's nostalgia or simply reality that their salad is the best there is on the South Shore. The salad was what I've known it to be. Great, fresh, classic Greek salad. No complaints. Though it was kind of silly that they only gave three pieces of bread when we double checked that the jumbo salad would be suitable for four individuals (we probably should have gotten another salad). I asked for the chicken, dressing, and feta cheese to be set aside and though they set aside the dressing, they didn't set aside the chicken or feta. It makes it more difficult to distribute that goof stuff throughout the salad. You know how that goes. We also ordered three pizzas. Two cheese and one with black olives. This is where we found ourselves feeling disappointed. To put it simply: it tastes better cold. When we got it back to my house (only a five minute drive or so away) the pizzas weren't very warm. There was hardly any sauce and it just tasted like a crappy, last resort, microwavable pizza. We had a good time laughing about how terrible the pizza was and comparing it to things that make us sad: the ASPCA commercial, losing a fresh pack of cigarettes, waking up to the goldfish you've had for two years floating on its back, you catch the drift. Then we drank a bunch of wine and beer and our taste buds didn't care about what we were shoving in our mouths. Would recommend salad. Not the pizza. Never the pizza. read more

Of course a place is going to have teething problems in the first week it's open--especially if it's got the name recognition of Christo's. It's a testament to just how good the pizza and salad are that a year after the original Christo's closed, there are hour-long waits for take out on opening weekend. The space is SMALL -- there's only a bench to sit and wait, and it's unclear whether you can cut in line if you've already called in your order. I have no doubt that it'll be running like clockwork in no time. After all, the old restaurant was run with near-military precision, as anyone who waited for Chris to call their name into the Gold Room can attest. As for the food, this is the best bar-style pizza you can get, and the renamed Barefoot Shepherd dressing is just as good as ever. The Greek salads are still basic--iceberg, peppers, celery, tomato, cucumber, feta, and dressing--but there are also new salads. I have a feeling the new menu is designed to appeal to both fans of the old place and new customers. The (tiny!!!) open kitchen is actually quite interesting--I had no idea they made their dough from scratch. I also can't speak for the quality of the non-pizza, non-salad items, but I will update after I try the Greek specials like moussaka and pastitsio. read more

Christo's has been and alway will be an exceptional place for the full dining experience. I will give you a challenge - order a large Greek Christo's salad enjoy it with a slice of pizza pie or with some bread with butter on it. Then in your travels eat the similar items at other establishment. Now the you going to about 10 other locations, with your honesty test in play, come back here and write you review for Christo's! I will be some of the best damn food that your palate ever tasted. Your service will be superb?, because GiGi & her staff knows nothing but excellence! Im very proud to say that I have eaten by my own free will, all my life. Do yourself a favor, when your checking out, paying your bill, buy a few bottles of Christo's salad dressing. I would always order it shipped to me, and share with my family. I buried my oldest sister, suicide after being diagnosed with dementia, a few months later my mother died. She would always sneak me out to eat at Christo's as a youngster. I have a lot of happy family memories from the original Christo's and I'm glad that the Tsaganis family legacy lives on with Christo's to Go but it makes me sad to think that all that is left is a small takeout place with a limited menu. The pizzas and Greek style green beans are as good as ever, as is the grapenut pudding but my favorite dish, Moussaka, has been a disappointment. I've gotten it a few times thinking it'll be what it once was but each time it was worst than the last...very small portion, dried out, and the last time the bottom was completely burnt. Being a fan of the original Christo's for many a year, I heard, to a great sadness, that the doors of the restaurant were closing and the business was going to be relegated to a takeout-only establishment. My first question was going to be, would the quality of the Christo's marquee be jeopardized in the transition? The answer: no. While visiting Momma Shelter, she suggested that we get Christo's and that's when I was introduced to the takeout version. I must say, that Christo's pizza and food is still on par with the excellence that is always associated with the previously famous restaurant. Despite this, the establishment is by far the best pizza in the small town of Whitman, so this is a no-brainer for a good, quality pizza for the money. To note, this is on the "bar pizza" lines, and not one of the Papa Gino's type pizzas. Definitely in the league of Cape Cod Cafe, Lynwood, etc. That being said, I was impressed at the quality and taste of the food and would agree with many of the reviewers in saying that if you were a fan of the original Brockton restaurant, you will love their to-go establishment. I grew up eating Christo's pizza and was so excited when Christo's to Go opened in Whitman. I highly recommend the greek salads...just the same as it has always been. Great. BUT, the pizza, not so much. The crust was very thick... as thick as Uno's deep dish...not the Christos pizza I remember. And all 6 of our pizzas were well done.??? The cheese was brown and the pizzas were so overcooked, they were all dry. I brought them to a party and everyone agreed, not the same old Christos pizza. I won't order the pizza again.. just salad from now on. read more
