Chicken Parmigiana
Aaron I.

Christopher's was a good impromptu visit with a group of friends. We called ahead for a table of 6 and were told we would be accommodated upon arrival. We were taken to our table immediately, and I was shocked at the amount of seating in the restaurant for a very u assuming exterior. Our table ordered the Boursin Bruschetta which was a great shareable for the table! I would get this again. The soup was fair, but we appreciated the unlimited bread service. My imported Peroni was served in a frosted glass which made it much more crisp and refreshing. The Chicken Parmigiana was rich in flavor, but I would recommend sticking with the red sauce rather than half and half like the waiter recommended. My friends and I were in no rush, but the table service was objectively slow. This is really the main opportunity of improvement for an otherwise great local establishment.

Great PIzzas and Pasta. The Joe is always a go to Pizza. One of the best in the city no doubt. Fettuccine Gorgonzola is another one!

The atmosphere was absolutely perfect (The Name Alone had me excited already) My server came just about right as soon as I sat down and brought me a menu, I didn't grab pictures of the menu as they are already online. Anyways, I had ordered The Baja Burger with a side of the specially seasoned fries which are just the utmost delicious. I have to admit for such a small place I wasn't expecting HOMEMADE RANCH I can't stress it enough that any place that has homemade ranch has my heart completely. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a good burger that fills you up and doesn't make your stomach hurt. Thank you so much The Lucky Horse

It was a beautiful evening, so we decided to sit outside on their patio. Shouldn't admit it...but we had to ask our waitress what the lettering was on the side of the building (see picture) - but hay, we are near Drake. Following a Lucky Casa Margarita (see picture), we ordered our meals. My wife ordered the Dogtown Burger w/ Onion Rings (see picture) and I went with the Boneless Wings w/ Blueberry BBQ sauce (see picture). As is our modus operandi, we shared tastes of each and both thoroughly enjoyed both plates. While me wife isn't usually a big berry sauce person, she agreed that the wings were very good. Unfortunately, I was too full to sample one of the awesome looking desserts on the menu...so that will be the reason for another stop! By the back door, the stale stench of cigarettes lingers like the last guest at a party nobody remembers throwing. Hardly perfume, but there it is. Some places come with a little baggage. I ordered the Uncle Denny: a smash patty with grilled onion, lettuce, Dijon, Duke's mayo, pepper jelly, and American cheese on a sesame bun. Yeah, I stole that from their menu. A combination that understands desire better than most dating profiles. The beef is where the courtship starts. That dark, griddle-kissed crust. The cheese surrendering to the heat. Grilled onions settling into the whole delicious mess. Then the Dijon cuts through, and the pepper jelly slips in with sweetness and a little trouble. Duke's makes sure nobody leaves clean. You lean forward. Both hands on the bun. For a few minutes, your phone can go to hell. There's something deeply intimate about a good burger: the attention it demands, the small indignities you willingly accept, the sauce you discover on your wrist after you've already decided you're in love. Bourdain said it best: "I'm just a cheap, nasty, low down, trailer park burger slut". The tots belong here, too. Little fried accomplices, useful for stretching out the affair between bites. The Uncle Denny, tots, and a drink came to damn near $18. Enough to make you pause before paying. Enough that the burger had better give you something to remember. This one will. I'll go back. Probably order the same thing. I always do. There's a point in every romance when you stop pretending you're interested in seeing other people.

We've gone to happy hour, dinner, and restaurant week. All are amazing. Happy hour and restaurant week are excellent value. Last night we had sweet corn tartlets with a savory cream and white truffle. I wanted them for dessert as well as the amuse bouche. Corn ricotta pasta and an Asian glazed beef tenderloin were standouts. Always order yuzu anything for dessert. The dining room is fairly small but with tables arranged so you're not listening to your neighbor's conversation. Natural decor (moss, branches, grasses, etc.) soften the space. Cocktails are inventive and the wine selection really interesting (in a good way). A biodynamic Spanish selection was one of the most pleasantly versatile bottles I've experienced, and the wine pairings for restaurant week were well conceived. If you're not sure what to select, staff will knowledgeably do it for you. Portland, Oregon is the city where we dine most often, and is one of America's best food cities. We did not expect this quality in Des Moines--were blown away by it--and return every time we're in town.

There is a variety of table sizes, so large parties can be accommodated. They also have several fire pit areas for groups. The inside has 2 large bar seating options. There are plenty of TVs inside and outside in case you are looking for a place to watch sports.
