Josh Sinclair ...the reason we are here again!
    Kirk M.

A Much-Needed Return After our last visit, I was a little reluctant to come back. But our good friend Josh was performing tonight, and we had to come see him! I'm so glad we did. The experience was much elevated since our last visit, where we were basically seated and forgotten. We grabbed a seat at a high-top close to the indoor stage. Our waitress immediately brought us waters and took our drink orders for huckleberry mules. Within moments, she returned with a big smile, a great personality, and, of course, our drinks. We sipped our cocktails and soaked up the great ambiance and the fantastic live music that Josh performs so well. Our server checked in often, and we eventually decided to order some Chicken Nachos. These things are ridiculous! They're fresh, homemade flour tortilla chips that are literally smothered in chicken, bacon, and--did I mention cheese? I think the cheese was also smothered in cheese. While I think they could dial back the cheese just a smidge, they were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. And the pile of fresh Jalapeno's on the side made me extremely happy! Thanks for the great service and for having such great entertainment! We'll definitely be back for the pizza, and more drinks too! I am glad we gave it another shot!

detailed explanation of sharing food fees, extra condiment fees, cheese fees, bacon fees

Bix's food is pretty good. Bix's prices are pretty bad. I don't think I've ever seen a more weirdly hostile menu. It's actually kind of humorous. In the very center of the menu there's this enormous blue box scolding patrons for sharing food and threatening extra fees if you dare split a dish at the table ($3). There is a long explanation for how you should be ordering your food though to avoid penalty fees, though, thank goodness! Then throughout the menu, you can see the extra fees for condiments. $1.49 each (although the lovely owners have graciously allowed you to have ketchup at the table) but if you want ranch and mayonnaise, you're paying $2.98+tax. And it's $2 for a slice of cheese, $4 for a slice of bacon. Like I said, the food is pretty good, but the obsession with nickel and diming patrons and not allowing them to share food without an upcharge comes off as unwelcoming. Especially the unnecessarily long explanation in the menu, that really just drives in the semi-hostile vibes.

I've been a couple times now. I've had their pizza which was delicious and took a short time to make. The recent I tried the fried green peppers. Delicious. I'd prefer ranch or a mayo aoli sauce instead of their options. I did try the pizza sauce. It was ok I didn't dislike it. The prices are reasonable. If it's packed it can be cramped. The bar seats are comfortable. The place is always clean. The staff are always friendly and quick! I will definitely keep going here.

It was busy Saturday afternoon, but we still got seated right away. Lots of games on the tv playing, so the noise level was up there with all the patrons, but still a fun environment. Our waitress was top notch and knew the menu well. Gave great suggestions. We opted for apps to share with three of us. It's hard to find the square cheese curds now and they have them. They're great!! We got naked wings with sauce on the side. With the spinach dip, it was very cheesey but we added some of the hot wings sauce to jazz it up. We got both corn and flour tortillas. I recommend that option. Our friend got the chili and a side of crispy fries. Not pictured was my friend's fried chicken sandwich that she loved. She was fond of the breading. Will be back for sure.

I looove bix and co. The pizza here is always amazing. I am a big fan of thin crust pizzas and this place always gets it right for me! Whenever I'm sharing one I always get an appetizer on the side. I got the cheese curds - the style is puffy and crispy! I like how these are much more savory compared to other spots! Lots of tvs in every angle inside! And our server was friendly and very attentive with keeping our drinks filled! Can't wait to try more here!

Friendly staff! Wide variety on the menu but can't go wrong with their pizza! Never disappoints with their "build your own" creations for pizza.

Great food! Love the atmosphere. Used to come every Wednesday for music bingo, but moved. But love coming back to town and meeting friends here.

Service was really good. We were seated immediately and offered a spot on the patio. We sat on the patio which was great for a lovely Saturday lunch date. Inside has 20+ TVs which would make for great sports viewing. We ordered the rarebit burger and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The cheese on the rarebit was creamy and yummy. The chicken sandwich was a little sad. Fries were fine but nothing special. I would return, but I'd want to try other options in the area before.

A group of seven of us got together today at Bix & Co. in Valley Junction for lunch. We're mostly old co-workers who worked with each other for well over a decade, have gone our separate ways, but who still maintain a family like bond. We arrived at around 1130 AM and were greeted right away as we walked in. I think it's pretty much categorized as a sports bar and getting a table today wasn't an issue at all. Seating in Bix & Co. is a bar and barstools, tables and chairs, half booths and chairs, and a couple of full booths. If you enjoy eating outside they also have a large outdoor patio area while the weather permits. Three of us were seated right away and the other four wandered in over the next few minutes. Our server set the table up with silverware and menus right away and took our drink orders as we arrived. After our entire party arrived and we all had drinks we moved on to the food. The menu isn't huge but covers all the bases. The prices are reasonable. You both order and then pay at the table. We selected a few different items... A few beers A few fountain drinks (Coke products etc.) 2x cheese curds 1x green pepper rings 1x Italian beef egg rolls 1x Italian beef with applesauce 2x tenderloins and fries 3x (I wasn't paying very good attention...one of whatever with onion rings and their house sauce) A large Balboa pizza The food came out after a short wait. It could have taken longer if needed. We were in no hurry and were enjoying catching up with each other and the conversation that goes along with it. While we were eating our server stayed on top of things with our party. Making sure we had refills and checking on us every now and then etc. I LOVE this style of cheese curds. The only other place I can recall having them is in the Millstream Brau Haus down in the Amana Colonies. If I can't get big thick hand cut mozzarella sticks these are what I want! One of my friends let me try his Italian beef egg rolls. These are a winner! Kind of Italian beefy without the mess. One of our party ordered the green pepper rings. And they looked so good! I wasn't going to risk losing a hand stealing one...but I sure wanted to. Lol I remember when Tasty Tacos used to offer these... I'll get them next time! Their fries are really nothing special but I enjoyed them. They kind of reminded me of McDonalds fries. They weren't...but you probably know what I'm saying. Thinner, not too long, no skins... Lightly salted and best if you eat them right away. Really good when they're hot! The tenderloin is battered. Kind of along the same lines as the one served at Cactus Bob's in Johnston, but the batter is slightly different and the tenderloin here is a little thicker. I stuck with the holy trinity (onions, dill pickles, and mustard) but they are served with lettuce and tomato on the side too. A pretty good tenderloin! I suspect they use the same batter on the tenderloin as they do on the pepper rings and other items I've seen pictures of (chicken strips, chicken sandwiches, onions rings, etc.). If you're curious about the onion rings they are advertised as thinly sliced, but to me these hit that inbetween area... Not thick...but not exactly thin either. They maintain the rings v. being strings or straws. Mannnnnn... I hate comparing something to fast food like I did their fries, but it's a benchmark a lot of people are familiar with. Think Long John Silver's for the batter...at least consistency and texture. But those two brief comparisons are where it ends v. fast food... The food itself here is elevated and is at a completely different level. The food at Bix & Co. rocked and so did our service! We all liked the food. They treated our party very well from start to finish and they really made a great first impression on me. This is a place that I would definitely recommend. Happy hour from 200 PM - 500 PM Monday through Friday and daily food specials. If you haven't tried Bix & Co. out yet it's a worthwhile stop! Bonus points for keeping Brown Dogs hot sauce at the tables...! This is a local Iowa product out of Norwalk. I saw both their classic hot sauce along with their ghost pineapple. https://www.facebook.com/bixandco/ https://www.bixandco-wdm.com/ https://browndogsfarm.com/

We are traveling through town in our camper on our way to visit the grandkids and had an afternoon to go enjoy something local. We decided to visit Valley Junction, as it was fairly close to where we were staying. We did a little shopping to support local businesses and then stopped in here for an afternoon glass of wine before we headed back to our campsite. Josh was super welcoming, I had a glass of Pinot Grigio and hubby had a Leinenkugel. it is a super comfortable environment and if it were dinner time, I would be here in a heartbeat to try their pizza or any of their dishes that are made with locally sourced ingredients and everything is fresh, never frozen. I loved how they had bench seating as well as all of the barstools were super comfortable. They had many sports channels playing and a beautiful outdoor patio. If we lived anywhere nearby, we would totally be regulars here. total bill for a Pinot Grigio and a beer was 13 bucks, can't beat that!

Had a much better experience this time around. Sat on the patio with friends on a warm Saturday afternoon. Service was very good and food was great. My wife had chicken tenders, our friends split nachos, and I had an Italian Beef. It was seriously good-on par with what I've had in Chicago, with great HOT giardiniera. Didn't have fries this time around, but the pasta salad was good. Glad we came back; our previous visit was tainted badly by our experience with the server. That can happen anywhere.

The service was quick and efficient- we were seated right away and never had to wait long. The patio was a good outdoor spot, and inside had many televisions. My BLT sandwich had crisp bread and fresh produce with lots of bacon. This is a good spot to hit if you're in the valley junction area.

Bix has some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had! You can tell that they're hand breaded and come out so fresh. The cheese curds were also incredible. Our server was very attentive and kind. Quaint-feelings sports bar, we will definitely be back!

We had a few plates of the loaded nachos with chicken and with beef... They were heaped high and delicious. Plenty on each plate for two or three people. The meat additions are not discounted during happy hour, but even at full price with the half-price nachos it's a bargain. Others in our group got the quesadillas and we shared some deviled eggs. All of them are very tasty. We also got some cheese balls. They were pretty much the standard fair but also very good. Drinks are another great bargain during the happy hour with discounted beer and mixed drinks. All the drinks were very tasty. Our server was Bailey. She was very pleasant, fun, and enthusiastic. The food came out very quickly, and the drinks came off the bar in a very reasonable time as well. There is a large U-shaped bar and plenty of booth and table seating along with that outdoor patio. There is a 4% non-cash adjustment for using your credit card. Definitely a very discounted happy hour, but the food was delicious and I would try it again for happy hour or just for dinner

It was getting to be dinner time, so asked my wife to meet me here for my last stop. Every time we've stopped here, we have been impressed with the quality of the food and tonight was no different. I had already enjoyed some Happy Hour specials at another venue, but my wife hadn't yet eaten dinner. She ordered the Gyro & Fries (see picture) and as you might guess, I did try a couple of bites. We both thought it was a very good gyro and were delighted to see that it is the daily special each day from 11-2, so we will definitely be coming back for lunch some day. The greeter was very friendly and our server was super nice and pleasant to have as a waiter. His recommendations were spot on. The whole restaurant was hopping busy but operating very smoothly. Not a quiet place, a true sports bar ambiance. The wings were very very good. Maybe some of the better ones I've had here in town. The gyro was fantastic, and huge. Great value. The wife's flatbread was great too. Excellent food all the way around. Prices for very reasonable. Happy hour helps some of the prices for sure, but still a well priced establishment. We are fans of this place and will most certainly be back.
