I came here for the live music. It was a really cool set up where the bar was in the middle, so you can sit at it inside and outside. The music was harder to hear inside, but it was still good. Service was very fast, once they saw me. The "seat yourself" with how busy they were made it hard for them to track. I tried the Des Moines beer with the jalapeno poppers. The poppers were really good! The price was $12 for 5, which seemed steap, butt they were delicious! read more

Stopped in on a Friday night had a Rachel sandwich and a Philly burger both of which very good. Super friendly and attentive server! Docked one star for 4% credit card processing fee. If you want to charge increase prices across board --- looks tacky having line item for processing fee read more

Nice spicy chicken sandwich with just the right amount of heat. Order Nashville hot if you want extra spicy. The crispy toast is nice touch. A cold draft beer is a perfect pairing. read more

I got the cowboy and it was phenomenal. The fries were also very well seasoned. I thought the menu was a little limited but most things they had to offer would accommodate most people. Great atmosphere with all different sports on every tv. The servers were friendly and the environment was definitely my kind of place read more

Food was okay. Service at first was good but second server had an attitude and was rude. Even when paying cash you get charged the credit card service charge. Even though it's a neighborhood bar we won't be back. read more

Stopped in for a evening snack with my wife. Service was good, drinks were fine, and food was fair. Neat outside patio areas with TVs and tons of TVs inside to show a myriad of sports events. Our server showed up at the table shortly after we arrived and we got our drink orders in. Took a bit of time to get them, but once we did we got our food order in and it came out exceptionally fast. We got the 'El Taco' flatbread - it says it is served with taco sauce, which I assume is on the crust, but ours was very dry and we asked for additional sauce and were provided 3 small packets which helped a bit. Taste was OK except for it being so dry. Server was attentive and enjoyed the variety of events on the televisions. Would come back to have drinks, but not sure the food would lure me. read more

I'm assuming this is the store we got our food from. we used my town to go. we ordered three appetizers and my town called to tell me they were out. so we chose something else. we had sw eggrolls, cowboy bites and thai chili wings. the foot was not piping hit. but still warm enough. it was all very good and took care of my bar food craving. I didn't have to cook or clean. give my town to go and 1908 draught house a shot. plenty of dipping sauce and utensils and wet wipes. read more

This is our third time here. They never have enough staff working and the girl that is working seems frazzled and borderline rude. Our first visit was good. The second visit they burned my significant other's pizza...twice. The first time the server asked if it was ok, I asked if she could see and smell the charcoal. She took it back. A different server brought the food the second time. She mentioned they had burned it again. And didn't make us pay for it. Tonight we tried for a third time. I will admit the location is good, and the beer is cold. We needed a late night meal. Our server has been super busy, and short with us. It's a holiday, they are completely understaffed, we can overlook that. However, tonight significant other ordered grilled cheese and we went the other direction... this time his cheese wasn't melted. There are tons of tvs, so plenty of sports to watch. It's a little on the loud side, but with sports that's expecteRecommend stopping for a beer. Do not recommend the food, or expecting decent service. UPDATE: new read more

Standard corner sports bar. The outstanding factor is the staff, Olivera is awesome! Taking a star off because of the 4% CC processing fee. Give me a break. The atmosphere is good and there is a nice patio. One day I'll try some food here and then update the review read more

The first time we rolled into 1908 Draught House it was a cold winter day and the place was packed. It was impossible to find a place to sit and even harder to hear each other. We returned Sunday morning and were the only two customers in the place. The brunch selection was terrific and the drinks even better. Really enjoyed the Philly Steak Skillet! The patio should be open soon and I'm looking forward to a third try. read more

Food was delicious and plenty of it too! The draft beer was ice cold! I had the island chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Chicken was juicy and the toppings were perfect. Sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly too. Our waitress was polite and quick to check on us. Not pushy either. It's a sports bar atmosphere. But. The music was VERY loud. read more

Found this place by accident and we love it. The patio is fabulous. I had the philly flatbread and it was perfect and my boyfriend really the wrap. He described it as flavorful. He wishes it would've had a little more meat. The fries were so good. Crinkle. Our waitress was great. We will be back. Saw someone with the wings and those look marvelous, so I'll be trying those. read more

Its a cool bar. Nice size patio but the food is not very good and very overpriced. We go there regularly but just for drinks, cant justify paying such high prices for average at best, bar food. read more

Was there this afternoon and the server (manager) was extremely rude. Just went there for drinks. First round he asked what we wanted to drink and walked away before we had a chance to respond. This happened again for round two. The third round we were thinking about switching it up and said you guys have had more than enough time to decide what you wanted yet we had no drink menu. We asked what kind of seltzers they had (since we weren't sitting at the bar) and he just walked away. Have given this place a lot of business and recommended this place numerous times to colleagues. Will never return or recommend it to anybody else. read more

Great food. The wings especially. Service was quick and very good. My first time going but will definitely be back and recommend to friends.

Pretty awesome covered patio and an incredibly delightful staff. Food is just ok. Standard pub-grub, but nothing that is overly memorable or wants me to coming back for more. This does make a great happy hour location on these beauty weather days in Iowa! read more

1908 Draught House - Lovin' this patio! - Sports Bars Near Me - West Des Moines, Iowa

This place does not deserve One Star. Been sick since I hate the Southwestern Egg Rolls and Mild Buffalo Wings. Extreme abdominal pain!!!

A nice spot to head with friends or coworkers for a drink and a bite to eat. Burgers are tasty and the beer is cold. It'll be nice when the weather finally turns so folks can hang out on the outdoor patio. Otherwise it's pretty cozy inside causing it to be a bit loud, but that won't stop me from a return visit. If everything on the menu tastes as good as it sounds, this will soon become a regular spot for this area resident, even if I am a White Sox fan... Stop by and give it a try! read more

I love this bar. The food is great, the taco pizza is my favorite, almost as good as happy Joe's. It's a great place to hang with some homies. I guess I'm never paying for a bill in cash again. Everything was fine until the bill. (Isn't it always?) she took 20 minutes just to pick up our bill. We overpaid our bill in cash so for like 30 min we were waiting and waiting for our waitress to give us back our change. My sister and I are both non-confrontational so we were too shy to say anything about it, but several other tables got checks back right away and taken within seconds. Not sure why she took so long at all. Saw her chatting with other coworkers for several minutes while we and other tables I'm sure sat waiting. I guess their conversation was more important loved the food, but be prepared for 0/10 service... read more

Met a friend here on a weekday afternoon for a drink. We were immediately bummed because we were too early for happy hour, but then realized happy hour is only .50 off so it wasn't too much of a bummer. I ordered the mango margarita. It was a pretty decent size for the price but really just tasted like a regular margarita. A nice cool drink for a hot summer day though. The place was pretty empty except for the bar which had most spots taken up by what looked like business men on their lunch or maybe off work for the day. My friend ordered the loaded tots w/ out meat. They were your typical nacho tots, pretty cheesy and topped with other favorite nacho toppings. I tried a couple and they were pretty tasty. Not much else available on the menu if you are vegetarian or vegan, maybe a couple of sides. They are definitely a sports bar-fans of the Cubs welcome here. Lots of tvs on different sports channels, even TVs on the patio. The bathrooms were nice although I was a little thrown off by the "sports" photos of "hot" men that filled the walls. My friend said the Men's room was covered in similar photos but all of women in pretty much bikinis. The bar/restaurant is also covered in sports photos some which are pretty cool but rather disappointing to see maybe only 3 or 4 women athletes out of MANY photos...Draught House is not really my pint of beer buts its an okay place to stop in and have one from time to time! read more

I understand it was March Basketball, but every tv had it on with no other options. A true sports bar would understand the significance of the Palmer Invitational this year. I only asked for golf on one tv all the way in the corner. "No" was the answer and the girl tending bar then asked the drunk guy next to me if he needed another beer. I think he had plenty missy his eyes were glazed over. I then was ignored with no other options given. I left within the first 3 minutes of entering. Poor Service to the max, never coming back. read more

Not from WDM so I swing through about once a week during work trips. Enjoyed watching the NBA Finals, NBA Draft, and MLB All-Star game at this location. Plenty of beers on tap and I always get the Tropical Habanero wings. Carey's tenderloin is always a great choice. I tend to make new friends every time I stop by because everyone is so welcoming. You're in great hands if you sit at the bar because Krista is the best and definitely on top of her game. read more

Food was good, service was mediocre. 1 star because ownership thinks they can get away with charging a 4% service charge to accept credit card payments. Who in the world does that? I can only imagine what other corners they're willing to cut if they trying to screw customers over on credit card processing. What a joke. Won't be back, hope you're happy ownership! read more

The service was good, the drinks were ok. They charge a fee of 4% automatically which seems unfair. They state they will take the 4% off if you pay cash, but the fee is automatically charged. WARNING: If you pay by credit card you will be charged an extra 4%. On a $28 bill that was $1.12. Multiply that by "normal" use of credit cards versus cash and that's likely a hefty amount 1908 pockets! No notice of this practice was spelled out anywhere my friend and I could see. Only discovered when I asked server what the "CC CSV" charge of $1.12 was. In addition, my friend & I each ordered a beer during "happy hour" at a $1 discount. The server gave us the wrong beers. Original ones returned and new beers delivered. But must have been after "happy hour" expired because when we got the bill, the beers were full price. I've liked the food there but don't like feeling gouged. Frequency of visiting 1908 will drop after this experience. read more
