Chiropractor, massage therapist, mental health counselors, nutrition experts and yoga. I went to the Tuesday night yoga class run by Joanna and it was wonderful! This hatha yoga class focused on relaxation. It was a 90 minute candle lit yoga session filled with light stretching, mindfulness and guided meditation. She even has tea for her Yogi's. The best part is the cost- only $5.00! She also teaches a more fitness based yoga class every Sunday morning at 9am for the same price. If you want to be a frequent yogi, you can get a 4 class pass for $20.00. I purchased the 4 class pass because I was so impressed with it. I can't wait to try the Sunday class. Here's a little tip, it's cash only so make sure you bring it with you. Also, you do not have to bring your own equipment- the studio has everything you will need but you're welcome to bring your own if you like.

It was a lovely experience and at the time for me kind of eye opening as I have always been interested in other religions. It's basically an integration of Eastern and Western Spirituality. They have all sorts of events and different offerings like yoga, teacher training, classes and kids camp. To give you more of an idea here's some info from the website. I have not taken photos inside unless I would ask. Thing is it was a lovely experience and I need to go back. It's not down the street but they were a really nice and kind group of people and very welcoming. "Located in Rochester, New York, The Assisi Institute is a place of stillness, silence, and peace. Our mission is to support individuals who seek a deeper relationship with God. We study and practice two spiritual traditions: Kriya Yoga, a yoga of breath and meditation, and Mystical Christianity. Kriya Yoga was brought to the United States in 1920 by the great Hindu guru and author of the classic Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda. Our Christian gurus include Jesus, St. Francis of Assisi, and others. All of our study and practice is compatible with any spiritual tradition, or no tradition." They have there own parking lot and the area is fairly quite.

I have only attended 2 classes here so far but each has been awesome. I like the actual studio…read morespace/vibe, the fact that there is great easy parking, and that the instructors are great motivators. Each class was different, both were challenging, and I like how I feel at the end of each session. I also like how the instructor gets into your head, knows what you might be thinking and has a mantra or story to help you get out of it. Philosophically, I feel like this place fits me and where I am mentally when I practice. I highly recommend signing up online for classes and/or investing in a pass (which I haven't done yet). I have been doing the drop-in thing and the room can be packed - in fact both of the classes I've attended so far have been packed with up to 40 people in the room, 10 mats to a row, which can be challenging if you are not familiar with yoga and/or fit enough to do your poses without risking losing your balance. However, the community of folks who attend all seem very friendly and forgiving! I also really appreciate the instructors providing verbal prompts for further challenge yourself or for easing off/modifying the pose as needed. Something you sometimes feel is missing in other studios where a one-size-fits-all approach is delivered. I definitely recommend giving them a visit, especially as a comparison to some of the other studios around town. My only lament is that I wish they were closer to downtown Rochester....mainly because of the winter weather and the fact that a round trip for me means a 2.5-3 hour investment of time....but for now I am managing it!

I highly recommend this studio to anyone in the Webster and nearby areas.
