I cannot say enough good things about this place. Dr. Joy has been absolutely amazing from day 1!…read more I was very reluctant to get my veneers redone mostly because, like many, absolutely hate having my teeth worked on and I wasn't mentally prepared for the process (but let's face it, was never going to be :). The day I walked into Crabtree Valley Dental, I was greeted warmly by everyone and one of the front desk staff even came out and MOVED her car for me because there weren't any parking spots left. At my first appointment, they gave me a questionnaire asking me how I wanted to be communicated with (ex. "just do what you need to do, I don't want to know", "tell me everything", etc.) which I now don't understand why all doctors don't do! I was then formally introduced to every single person I encountered from the tech to the doctor all the way to the billing person. Furthermore, what initially began for mechanical reasons has now turned into an entire transformation of my smile. Every step of the way, each team member I worked with encouraged me to not stop until I was 100% happy, including and mostly Dr. Joy. In the beginning I figured they were just being nice, but they were not. Dr. Joy was so invested in me being absolutely content and confident in my teeth and smile again. Somewhere along the way I decided to also get gum contouring and she personally called the periodontist on more than one occasion to make sure everything went well and I was taken care of. She was also in contact with the prosthetist every step of the way. The last thing I was worried about (and then I'll stop rambling) was the temporaries looking funny while the veneers were made. I was apprehensive about sharing photos yet because these are just the temps and I chipped one by accident, but attached is a before and after! I didn't have a great before pic, but the difference is amazing. If you're in need of any dental work, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Joy at Crabtree Valley Dental.

I can never get through over the phone and give emailed 4 times now with an inquiry and no response. The last time I was there I waited half a hour after my appointment time for them to finally tell me they were backed up because someone had called out sick. My mom has had an equally terrible experience with their office staff texting her sensitive medical information. I'm bummed to switch my dentist because the doctors here are so great, but dealing with this office is a nightmare.

This is a different type of review from the restaurant reviews I'm used to writing, but people…read moredon't JUST EAT. They need to take care of their choppers, too! It's been awhile since I last went to the dentist .... probably about 4 years. As a hot tea drinker (having been raised in a former British colony) my teeth showed the stains. My parent (thankfully) weren't as derelict in my dental care as I've been. Having had a truly awful dental experience at the hands of a Navy dentist, I've avoided dental visits like the plague unless absolutely necessary. Having worked on a production of Little Shop of Horrors didn't help! The folks at Adams & Cheek Dentistry changed my perception! They were thorough, explaining every step of the way, sensitive to my discomfort threshold, gentle, presented me with a course of treatment, looked out for my financial liability and provided quality service at a fair price. Mt favorite question is "What is the value proposition?" Parents: teach your children young to tak care of their teeth and to not dread a visit to the dentist. Take care of your own teeth .... Lead by Example. Make it a family thing!

From a first-time routine dental visit, many aspects of this experience seemed off, almost like a…read moredentist office version of The Shining, whether the overstaffed reception, the capacious lobby devoid of patients, or the inordinately long paperwork, waivers, and acknowledgements to complete. The office was richly adorned, including a salt water aquariums right next to my dental chair, and the office is equipped with the latest expensive tech. Does any of this translates to better dental service? In my opinion, the answer is "no" - and I couldn't help wondering how all these costs are recouped. I only came in for a cleaning. I left sorely disappointed; the hygienist just flossed my teeth, an activity I do better on my own at home. No polishing, no scrapping, no need to rinse my mouth and spit out the water. Nothing! I had an x-ray of my teeth taken, after which the hygienist left to retrieve the dentist. At least 15 minutes passed, maybe longer. Mind you, I saw no other patient in the office and I easily made the appointment the day before; the delay. Honestly, I opined there was no basis for the delay, the time could have been used for the cleaning I came in for, and all this pissed me off. The dentist then made his entrance. Though I was a new patient, he kept interaction to a minimum and was otherwise reserved and unfriendly. Although I like almost everyone, I didn't like the way he spoke to me with a degree of condescension that he barely concealed. After briefly checking out my teeth with a sickle probe - I did not see him use the mouth mirror - consulting the x-ray. he gave me a $3,000 worth of dental treatment that required his immediate attention or else I'd have to get a root canal. His attempt to show me on the screen the location of the cavity - a dark shading that I noticed on other teeth - was unconvincing. I simply did not trust his diagnosis. When I refused treatment, the office wanted me to sign an acknowledgement regarding the same. The whole experience was absolutely horrible and a complete waste of time!

I saw the negative reviews of this dentist but decided to go anyway. First, because it's very close…read moreto where I live. Second, because I was on a time crunch and they offer same day appointments. I unfortunately cracked my molar and needed to be seen ASAP due to my insurance being up at the end of the month. I called at 9am and got an appointment for that same day in the afternoon. The initial appointment was long (1.5-2hrs) because of x-rays, pictures, cleaning, and consult but they have much better technology than any dentists I've been to and I was actually able to see my teeth up close. Alexis was great through this first appointment. I needed a root canal and crown due to how I cracked my tooth. They were able to schedule me the next day for the procedure and worked with me on pricing. I was also able to use care credit with no interest for 12 months, which helped since it was a pricier procedure and my insurance didn't cover it all. The root canal itself went about as well as I thought it would. It wasn't pleasant but I opted for the nitrous (laughing gas) sedation method which helped. Dr. Hyer and the assistants did a great job with making sure I was comfortable during the procedure. I haven't had any issues with my temporary crown and the pain decreased significantly after only a few days. Their aftercare instructions helped a lot. Overall, i'm happy with the care I received and the staff.

I was saying this and Chris got upset, and I was trying to be clear about my care today because of the back and forth. I had been given phone numbers to text with concerns to no avail. It was never my intention to debate my care, but I did feel the need to advocate for myself and ask questions about my treatment plan. Unfortunately, once I began questioning my care, Dentist Chris Martin's response felt dismissive and sarcastic, which caused me to lose confidence in a provider I once trusted. After I stated that I no longer felt comfortable proceeding with treatment that day, Dr\. Martin removed his mask and gloves and said, "Get her a referral to Chapel Hill." I left without a clear plan of care or any meaningful discussion of other treatment options. As a Black woman advocating for the proper care of my teeth, I should be able to ask questions and express concerns without feeling as though I am being difficult for doing so. Being in medicine over 20 years, i believe patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and confident in their care. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to seek dental care elsewhere. Extremely disappointed is an understatement.
