Background: I woke up to a car that didn't start. I went on the nextdoor app and asked my neighbors for recommendations as I was new to the area and this spot was the first of many. I researched them on Google and yelp and they had great reviews. I called, spoke with Miguel, and dropped my car off around noon. They fit me right in and the guys at the front desk were professional; it was a quick check in. I recieved a call a short time after to explain the diagnosis. It was a bad battery and corroded terminals. I was then asked how I wanted to procede after he explained the charges thus far. I gave him the ok and we moved forward to ensure it wasn't the alternator or starter and luckily it wasnt. He called me an hour later informing me the car was ready to go. The guys went the extra mile by making some recommendations but not at all pushy. All in all, great experience with honest professionals. I did do some research on the going rate for this job and the price was very very fair. I highly recommend if you're in Havertown/Upper Darby/Drexel hill area.

I was a little nervous I'd be told there were 100 things wrong with it, or it wouldn't pass inspection because of X, Y, or Z, but the convenience of them being located in walking distance of my house overrode my paranoia that I'd be taken for a fool. Despite my general distrust, I could not be more pleased! JC charged me $116 for a full inspection and an oil change. They didn't try to upsell me one bit. I have mad respect for them and will absolutely be returning for more mechanical/routine work in the future. Their prices are hella reasonable and they seem like genuinely nice people. Plus I'd rather support a local business than the VW machine!

A day later they called me to tell me it was fixed. It cost over $600 and they couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong. After having problems with the explanation, he finally just said, "The brakes were put on wrong". First, the brakes had been on the truck for over a year with no problems. Second, they didn't replace the brakes. The bill showed seals and labor. The emergency brakes weren't hung up any more so I left it at that but I'll never go back again.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Steve's Auto…read more I brought my car in for a noise issue and was told the sway bar needed to be replaced ($360). I also requested an oil change, and during that service I was later told the oil pan bolt "broke" and that I now needed a new oil pan for an additional $600. I was not properly warned beforehand and felt pressured to pay, bringing my total close to $1,000. Just days later, the exact same noise was still there. When I brought it back, I was told it would now cost $900 for control arms. When I questioned why the original issue wasn't resolved, Steve became dismissive, hung up on me, and refused to do the repair. Regardless of the mechanical explanation, hanging up on a paying customer and refusing service when concerns are raised is unprofessional. I cannot recommend a business that handles customer concerns this way.
