I have anxiety and had never had a root canal before, so I was definitely nervous going into and during the appointment. I had honestly never even heard of endodontics before the term "root canal" started being dropped into scheduling and conversation for me. It was nothing like I had imagined. Thank you to Dr. Sloan Lanctot and Dani. You were both truly amazing. You were attentive, listened, never made me feel rushed, and made the whole experience much easier and more comfortable. Wouldn't recommend a root canal for the fun of it, but the entire experience was better with you, and better than I could have ever imagined or expected. The office in Westerville is beautiful! It's new and think they have only been at this address a few months. I had a 9 AM appointment, arrived around 8:30 AM, and had no issues finding parking. The office and facility are clean and modern with new equipment. Everything felt as comfortable as could be, and the service from check in through the next day follow up was friendly and appreciated. Helpful notes: Upon arrival, the restrooms are on the second floor, directly across from the elevators. They are only accessible before you enter the suite. When it comes to relieving it, you will not receive better care from another endodontic group. I've had 4 root canals in the last four years, three from Dr. Menke and one from Dr. Arens at the Dublin and Westerville offices, and each time, I have left feeling truly cared for. Professionalism and expertise is top tier. Dr. Menke has done the last three root canals for me and makes it a point to check on his patients the next day personally to see how things are. When was the last time a medical professional did that in our world? Best guy ever! The first root canal I had was an emergency two days before Xmas in '22 during a blizzard. A two-hour drive turned into three, and my whole head throbbed with pain. Walking out into a field and lying down was definitely on the table. If you know, you know. Dr. Arens took one look at me and in one minute, the pain was gone. The endodontist in Chillicothe I had gone to first actually had numbed my mouth, then looked down and said, "No. I'm not doing it. Your mouth is too small. Just have it pulled." Yep. Zero stars. Do not recommend. Dr. Arens saved my tooth. Despite my frequent brushing and flossing, old fillings have broken or fallen out, requiring more dental work as I've gotten older. Despite the 2-hr drive, Central Ohio Endodonics will always be my first choice for future work. The office staff is also kind and professional - very empathetic - and thoughtful, extending the exemplary dental care to the finish line. I appreciate everyone there. However, I needed some simple x-rays of my teeth and either the x-ray holder was TOO BIG for my mouth or the "hygenist?" was placing them incorrectly and they wouldn't go in. I said, OW. YOU'RE HURTING ME. So she shoved harder and started fussing like a 2 year old. I said, STOP. THEY DON'T FIT. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. She stamped her feet, fussed like a baby and said, so you are refusing the procedure? NO, i said. IT DOESN'T FIT. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. She called in another staff member to complain that i was Un-Cooperative or something. This staff member did NOTHING USEFUL. Didn't even speak to me at all. 1st woman- then braced herself like she was pushing a bolder up a mountain and began SHOVING the appliance back into my mouth. It still didn't fit. I was in so much PAIN that i nearly jumped out of the chair. Almost to tears, the 1st highly trained and skilled "hygenist" finally brought in Dr. Cheung. I told him the appliance didn't fit in my mouth. Please do something different. He immediately told them to do the xray a different way. No problems. It was done in a moment. Professional. I DON'T BELIEVE that the xray film would not fit in my mouth with the application of even the slightest professionalism or patience or that ANY of the fussing and violence to my mouth associated with getting the x-ray was even necessary. Any person even remotely interested in actually getting the job done- would have accomplished this simple task with almost no trouble at all. This female hygenist and the staff in general are Stunningly Brave, absolutely Beautiful, perfect in Every Way and are obviously being oppressed. Please don't change a thing. Once the tooth was fixed, I had zero pain and irritation for the first time in several years. One previous dentist I saw wanted to pull the tooth. Thank goodness I found Dr. Hoagland! I have been a patient of Dr. Hoagland's for more than 8 years. Not only is he a skilled physician with an excellent bedside manner, he is an amazing human being. The Dental Hygienists are fantastic, too. They do a thorough job cleaning my teeth twice a year. And, Sula, at the reception desk is great, too. I always look forward to going to the dentist. If you get a choice I would go With "big papa!" That's what I call him in my head. This location doesn't discuss preventive care much with patients, so it is important to make sure you ask them, to keep the work they do intact. The entire experience helped start to heal the PTSD I carry from past poor dental experiences. HORRIBLE.... Stay away!!!!…read more I've attached photos to show how horrible this dentist is. I saw this dentist for ten years, thousands of dollars. I had a chip in my front tooth for years that was less than 1/16th" and Dr Dugas cut off more than half of my front tooth to fix it (see pics). He then painfully tried to match the color and was unable. I went back for a second three hour procedure and the color was unbelievably wrong again. After he saw how bad the color match was, and offered to repair it. After Dr Dugas offered to repair the damage he caused, I went back the office for the third time and was told the repair would be another $1300. Please do NOT GO TO THIS DENTIS!!! I tried to have the damage repaired by another dentist and was told it's permanent and cannot be fixed. The only reason for the five stars is the dental hygienists that work there. The actual dental work ruined my smile for life. Please pick any other dentist. I have recommended this dentist to many people, and hope they didn't have the same horrible experience I did.
