Very friendly doctor! He cares about his patients and takes time to even work with you and your insurance.

Our office accepts most Cigna Dental HMO plans and we would just have to confirm for you. We do not accept DeltaCare DHMO at this time. However, our out-of-pocket treatment fees (without insurance) are similar to most dental HMO plans. Please e-mail… Read more

He laid out all the options (different braces, Invisalign, etc) very clearly so that I could make an educated decision.

Strongly not recommended, especially for parents trying to use their hard earned money to give…read moretheir child a beautiful smile. Although the doctor get the job done fast, there isn't very much bed side manner. Going in intially as a young teen, every appointment was always frightening. If you do not meet the doctor's standards, you will be scolded. The doctor did not wear a mask back then, you would get saliva sprayed on your face when he tried to talk to you. You have to address Doctor Chen the new wires at the back of your mouth is hurting you asap, or he will move onto the next pateitn. Tried to avoid going back as much as possible after the retainers were finished. Did not even take photos of finished results since I dreaded going back. Went back for retainer maintenance after 5 years from strong encouragement from my dentist. Tried to ask for a copy of my records. Since I never provided them photos of my results, Doctor Chen became upset. Although he did not yell, he started raising his voice to defend himself in front of his staff and other patients, and pointed additional things I did not fulfill as a patient, such a routine check ups as they stated many years ago. I do see Doctor Chen and his staff trying to make improvements such as changing the waiting room environment and wearing masks. I had hopes this business would be worth the wait when I walked in today. But I feel very discouraged again.

The WORST orthodontist EVER!…read more The last time I came here was probably almost a decade ago, I started when I was in early high school. I will never forget the days in that office. Dr. Howard Chen was supposedly the best orthodontist in the area, how wrong that information was! His office is CONSTANTLY packed. You arrive every time for your appointment but there's a 'mandatory' wait for at least 1.5 hours. They were so busy they always have at least 15 patients in the first waiting room and 6 kids in the second waiting room. When it's finally your turn on the chair, you still have 2 kids ahead of you. While you wait, there is entertainment provided by Dr. Chen and his nurse assistants, he's almost always flirting with them. I don't think I've seen one male nurse the couple of years I've been there. All this wait is definitely made worth while for the sloppy work that's about to happen next. Every visit I paid, I walk out with my face covered in my own saliva, on the rare occasions when he actually remembers to wear a mask that is. More than half the time you leave with your saliva and his spit all over your face. He spits a lot when he talks.. and he talks A LOT (remember what I said about the flirting?). He'd make you keep a toothbrush in his office that's kept with everybody else's toothbrush - no security whatsoever, you can only pray that someone didn't accidentally used your toothbrush - and uses max strength to tackle your teeth when he thinks you're not brushing hard enough. The work he does is extremely unprofessional. He'd always tighten the rubber bands way too tight, rarely cuts the wire in the back of your teeth. For years I've had torn walls in the back of my mouth, on my tongue and all along the sides of my inner lips. I would complain but he never remembers to do anything. After a couple years i couldn't take it anymore. I just stopped going and had the braces left on my teeth for years because I dreaded going back to him, that's how much I hated going there.

Our oldest daughter is finished and we are all very happy with her beautiful smile. Our middle daughter had her front teeth growing every which way and over the course of a few months her teeth already started to look amazing. Dr. Peng, Dr. Areepong l, and the entire team are a pleasure to work with. They keep you informed every step of the way, and are absolutely perfectionists. The team that schedules appointments and answers questions are the best. Over the course of a couple years they have always been super friendly and always go the extra mile to help with any issues. I will continue to refer all our friends and coworkers to their practice.

As an adult, I had braces since October 2020 to January 2023 so a little over two years. At some point in 2021, I moved to Seattle and kept flying back and forth for my treatment. It was a long and difficult journey and I felt insecure having braces as an adult, but overall it was worth the time and money because I feel more confident. From having crowded teeth to becoming more centered, I'm very satisfied. I could have switched to another Orthodontist in WA but I trusted the process -- Dr. Peng, Dr. Areepong and the whole team made me feel comfortable and made it easy when I filed to visit every other month! If you are willing to pay the money and go through the process, I would say go for it and you'd feel so much more confident smiling! Thank you all for the past 2-3 years! :-)

TLDR; This will be the best dentist you've ever gone to…read more Realistic and honest with pain expectations and necessary procedures. Like most places of profession that are at the top of their field, it's not that easy to get fast appointments, so call or go in ahead of time to book one. Definitely worth giving them a chance. There's a reason they've been in business for so long while atleast a dozen other dentists have come and gone right across the street from them over the years. Long version; This dentist has been here forever! And they prove why everytime I visit. Everyone I interact with here is very professional and kind. They realize that we're there most likely for something uncomfortable and stressful. The thing I LOVE about this place is that they're very realistic with pain expectations. They tell me if it's going to hurt and offer to give extra numbing. They also tell me if the pain is going to be minimal and offer to do fillings and other procedures without numbing if it's not necessary. Other places I've been to while out of state have my entire face numb for a whole day just for a little painless drilling. My insurance handles most of the costs and this is the only place I've been going to for 10 years so I'm unsure how the pricing compares. I've never waited more than 10 minutes from when the appointment time has me coming in. Nothing worse than waiting forever in anxiety to get a tooth pulled! I've seen a few dentists come and go from this place, but Dr Tan(I think the owner) has been there and is always super gentle and definitely knows what he's doing. Finding an honest dentist is like finding an honest mechanic. You'll never pay for or end up fixing something that you didn't need fixed. There's a new younger guy, Dr Nick, who started working here recently. I think it might even be Dr Tan's son?? Luckily he's following well in his father's(?) footsteps. Super gentle and, once again, realistic about the pain. He's done some dental work for me the last time I've been there and it's actually pretty nice having a younger dentist. Makes it a little easier to talk to and explain fully what the problem is and vice versa with the info he gives being very clear. THANK YOU to Dr Tan, Dr Nick, and all the other wonderful ladies who help me out during my visits!

Nice guy tho. My hips and back and right shoulder feel more off and affect daily life around 20% Also got my first filling here, 2 second opinions and said it looked like a rushed job. they said traiditional braces cannot fix my bite and jaw and that I'm on my own.
