CHRIS AIVALIOTIS LIED TO ME AND WASTED MY TIME. I see a listing for 3 bedroom, private backyard, and pet friendly apartment in Astoria. It checked all the boxes I was looking for. When I went to go initially meet with Chris he was very charming and polite. We went inside to look at the apartment and quickly I noticed it's not a three bedroom, it's a 2 bedroom with an office (there's no way that office could fit a bed). The back yard was not private, it's shared with the other tenants in the building, however he still reassured me it was pet friendly. So even though what I initially went in for changed, I was still willing to consider this apartment. I noticed that the stove was very very old and when I asked him if the landlord would be open to replacing it he suggested to me that in a month or two I should tell her that I smell gas and it's coming from the stove and then she would replace it. He also told me I could cut some of the wires from the back myself and tell her it's "broken". He told me the same could be done for the outdated fridge as well. So then I decide to meet with the landlord and sign the lease. When I get there, he had told the landlord a different day so she was not there, I waited almost an hour to meet her. While waiting for her Chris was bragging to me about how many apartments has has leased, and also coached me on different ways to get what I want out of the apartment such as telling my future landlord that I only have a 10lb dog, don't mention the kitchen just break it instead, etc. When the landlord finally arrives I meet with her and start signing the lease. As I'm signing the lease I told her the lease does not mention pets, she said "oh, no pets here, I'm sorry" I drop then pen and start to talk to her. Her and Chris ignore me, start speaking in Greek in front of me, come to the conclusion that they should raise my rent $300 more dollars a month if I bring my dog. So at the end of the day this CHRIS AIVALIOTIS showed me an apartment that was the exact opposite of the listing and also showed me how do destroy appliances in order to get what I want. What a fucking snake. There are much better realtor's out there and since he brags about how many places he fills I'm sure he will be just fine without your business. Don't wast your time. BEWARE! Do NOT work with Chris. He is dishonest and will not give you your money back. In mid-October I found an apartment listed for rent on Zillow that looked great. I contacted the number listed and then met with Chris for him to show me the apartment. I told him I was interested so he sent me an application after which the landlord accepted me, and I met with the landlord and Chris to sign the lease, and pay the security deposit, first month's rent, and broker fee. Unfortunately I noticed something in the lease afterwards that would have put me in violation of the lease, which I obviously didn't want and knew the landlord wouldn't want either, so I was honest and called the landlord. The landlord was very nice and because it was weeks before the term of the lease was even supposed to start, we met so that I could give him back the lease and he could return my security deposit and my first month's rent. Everything was amicable. After this I contacted Chris explaining that the lease had been terminated and asked when he would return our broker fee. He said that he would return the fee when the apartment was re-rented (again this was weeks before the term of the lease was even going to start so there was plenty of time to find another tenant in a beautiful and reasonably priced apartment). It has been three months and he has yet to return a penny. I have called him multiple times and he continues to tell me the apartment still hasn't been rented even though I see it listed Off Market on Zillow, and that he will pay me once the apartment has been rented. Chris should have already returned the broker fee even if the apartment hasn't been rented. Chris is the seller's broker, not the renter's broker. He was not working for us, nor did we sign any paperwork with him saying so. I met him one time, only for this apartment. I've now had to take legal action, and am writing this review so that you steer clear of him. Although he has mostly positive reviews, I'd read the negative ones too. read more

Chris is the man! After endless searches with sleezy sneaky brokers I finally found the perfect apartment for me and it only took one quick visit. Chris met me at the place and arrived early, fully introduced himself and actually showed interest in getting to me know me personally and what I was looking for. Every other broker that I met with didn't even shake my hand, look me in the eye, or ask for my name, all they were interested in was $$$$$. It was so refreshing! oh, and can't forget the fact that he is totally hilarious! I felt like I've known him forever. All of the other brokers showed me apartments that were either completely different from the photos OR 95% of the time they were already sold while I was looking and completely wasted my time. I also brought a friend both times (when I initially looked at the apartment & when I went back to sign the lease) & they both said how awesome hilarious and nice he was. I was actually taken aback when I worked with him because I was so used to meeting with slimey brokers. Even just walking around the apartment building inside and out Chris knew everyone on a first name basis and what they did for work, where they were from and their whole story. It's like he is a long time friend of everyone and you don't normally get that with real estate brokers (actually, never!) I am so happy that I found Chris and kind of sad that I wasted my time on other brokers before I got to him but hey you live you learn! I have a few friends that are looking to move to Astoria in the coming months and I have already told them that they absolutely must use him and nobody else. Drop all of the other brokers you are working with and go to Chris. Or if you don't have any broker you need to call him up as soon as you finish reading this review. This is no exaggeration or me being dramatic, but the upmost truth. I came to NYC with the intent of signing for a studio or 1 bed within my budget ($1,300-$1,500), within a decent commute to Columbia, and that was in an area that I felt the most comfortable. I toured so many places that left me feeling rather frustrated and discouraged. Either my commute to school was too long or the price was far too much for what I was getting $1,450 for the tiniest room I ever saw). I told Chris my budget and what I needed and he came through. I saw the cutest, most charming studio in Astoria. It was way bigger than any studios I saw earlier and priced for $1,500 (within budget!!!) My place is within a two minute walk from the laundromat AND the train. I submitted all of my documents and application that night, got approved at noon the next day and signed that evening. I secured housing that I'm so excited for that quickly with him. For someone who has never lived in New York, had a strict budget, and was doing this all on my own he was nothing short of rad. I recently worked with Chris during my search for an apartment in my ideal neighborhood. Chris initially showed me 3 places, and I ended up signing a lease for one of them despite not being thrilled about some of the apartment's features. After visiting the apartment a second time I realized the issues with the place were really not ideal/would be difficult to live with and needless to say I was having a hard time with my decision (although I was still planning to move in since I didn't have a choice). Afterwards, I happened to run into Chris in the lobby of the building. By chance, I ended up telling him about how I was feeling. To my surprise, Chris immediately offered me the chance to take another unit in the building which had just come on the market. He took me to see it right then and there and turns out this unit was exactly what I was looking for all along!! Chris immediately called the landlord who agreed to rent me this apartment instead! Chris was able to get us in our apartment in just a few days! We are super impressed with Chris' hard work, plus our apartment is FANTASTIC and even better than we could have imagined!!! If I could give 10stars I would I was in a desperate situation looking for an apartment with a former girlfriend Chris assured me that he would find us the perfect apartment and he did we were so happy he made the application process a breeze and no Hidden charges,two years later I need an apartment in Manhattan on the upper Eastside .Chris was able to find me a great place with an actual real full-size one bedroom that I could fit a king size bed . Chris made all this happen within a few days and I was moved in and he even was able to get me a great moving company at a fair price. We just moved to Astoria from Toronto. My wife's work involves relocation every four or five years so we are used to making big moves from country to country. They give us a full week to find an apartment in our new city. Normally it takes at least four to five of those days to find a place we are happy with. Made finding the first apartment for myself and my fiancé such a painless, and actually great experience! Chris was amazing! I just got thrown into a less-than-ideal situation when my current building was served with an order to vacate and Chris found me a place in the same neighborhood, in my price range, with much more space (I mean, it has a backyard - it's basically a unicorn). He also worked with me all weekend to get the lease signed well within 48 hours. He's an expert in the field of Queens neighborhoods - I lost track of the amount of times he looked across the street to someone and noted, "Oh, I remember him/her - I helped them with their apartment four or five years back." He's sensitive to your needs, income, and expectations and is very accommodating in terms of his own schedule. Great guy. Fast, reliable, no-nonsense. I recently moved to NYC with my family and Chris was the only broker who went beyond his role to make us feel welcome in Astoria and help us settle down. His knowledge of the area is tremendous and he worked with us to find the most suitable apartment for our needs. On top of that, he even helped us with furnishing by referring us to stores where we got great deals just by virtue of saying that Chris sent us.
