We were looking for a company to remove about 12 big leaf vine maples in our back yard (these trees are tall, skinny and prone to breaking) Andrew was prompt in coming out and doing a bid. We had several companies out, his bid was reasonable and he discussed the job in detail with us. On the day of the work, he and the crew showed up on time and started right to work. Andrew does all the cutting and climbing, removing limbs as he goes and then topping the trees when they get too small to climb. He then cuts the trunk into large sections (its amazing how uniform those sections were!) and pushes them down to the ground; this does leave some dents/divots in your yard but it's the most efficient (less expensive) way to do cut the trees down. They were able to back the chipper into the yard which made it easier for them, but the ground crew did slightly damage some of my landscape plants as they drug the bigger limbs to the chipper. Unfortunately the chipper broke down about midway through the day; Andrew rented another chipper and came back the next day to finish the job. The ground crew cleaned up as the worked and did a through cleaning of all the debris the last day. They even took and chipped the limbs we had from several smaller trees that my hubby and I cut down earlier. I would use Chopping Block again and have recommended them to several of my neighbors. read more

They brought in a machine that would wrap around the tree and when he cut the section off it would grab the section and carry it over the top of the house All the neighbors were coming out to watch because it was quite impressive to watch. We had a tall maple tree on the backyard crack in half last summer during a big wind storm. Chopping Block came out and secured the tree so it wouldn't fall towards the house. We recently contracted Andrew to take down one of our taller trees that had become diseased and dangerous. It was 130 feet tall! Andrew was awesome - obviously very experienced and extremely skilled. It was fun to watch him quickly scale the tree while taking down the branches, top the tree which landed exactly where targeted, and then descend the tree making 16 inch rounds all the way down which also landed exactly on target.
