We went for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty! Truly an amazing experience.

Fantastic chocolate cake!!

Birthday dinner last night at Choplin's. The hostess greeted us and wished me happy birthday! They gave us the Chef's Table which was decorated with birthday decorations. The waiter and other staff were attentive and friendly!! And the food....well it was amazing!!! I had chicken Marsala and my hubby had diver scallops. Drinks, salad and then main course served at a steady pace, we never felt rushed or pushed to hurry up and eat. The chef constantly changes up the menu so the courses are fresh and unique. For dessert they added a sparkler to my chocolate cake (my favorite dessert on the menu) and sang happy birthday. The staff went out of their way to make this a special dining experience!!! You will not be disappointed. This is our go to restaurant for special occasions in LKN.

8oz Eight - Ounce Angus Filet Mignon

We came out to Cornelius for my birthday dinner. We specifically came for Choplin's. We had 6:30 reservation and thanks to the down pour of rain we were pretty much right on time. We arrived and they had a nice covered outdoor area and inside was standing room only in the waiting area. They were booked solid, but we only had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table to be ready when we arrived. Our waitress, Taylor, was very sweet and on top of everything! We ordered the Carolina Shrimp appetizer again and it was delicious, I got a steakhouse salad and it was phenomenal, we both ordered the filet mignon. I got the 8 oz and traded the scalloped potatoes for mashed potatoes and my husband got the 12 oz as it comes. When our steaks came out everything looked phenomenal. We were disappointed they weren't cooked exactly right; however, they were so apologetic and happily fixed it for us with no fuss! When they came out again they were cooked perfectly as usual for them! The veggies were yummy and the potatoes were good as well! The desserts were out of this world as usual. My husband ordered strawberry cake and I don't care much for cake in general so I got the Crème Brûlée as usual for me. It was delicious for sure! my husbands face said it all when he bit into the cake and then he insisted I try it. When I tell you it was DELECTABLE it's an understatement. We ended up ordering a piece to go. They recognized us after we haven't been here in four months and that speaks a lot for a place I think. The atmosphere is relaxed, it was more noisy than I like tonight but it was packed and several large parties so it was to be expected to be a bit noisy. Choplin's definitely stays at the top of my lists for places this side of Tennesse. We made the hour drive for it and will do it again for sure!

My Beautiful Mom celebrating her Birthday at Choplin's!

We had a wonderful Birthday celebration at Choplin's Restaurant in Cornelius, NC! The personalized service, delicious appetizers and entrees, and the special touch with the birthday cake and champagne made my Mom's birthday truly memorable. Faith Choplin, her husband, and the staff made the evening so special. Our Aunt and Cousin from Washington State were thrilled to have dinner at Mom's favorite restaurant Everything was perfect.

Worst Food ever...So disappointed. Drove 45 minutes on a reservation, short wait (no problem). Got shoved in box car seating situation. Server was unprofessional, right down to his follower pen. Skipping... then auctioned off "anyone have a drink menu?" Pass it on down... WTF? Asked questions about menu, the clown re-read me what was on paper!!!! Food came, clown came an went. Chillin sea bass was Patagonian toothfish...ribeye was 4 different temperatures, rice pilaf, scalloped potatoes salad, dessert everything nasty! Owners couldn't need look me in the eye!!!!

Rich and delicious french onion soup

My husband and I have been to Choplin's a few times, and decided to visit them again one weekday evening. Sadly, their prices have increased significantly, and their food quality and atmosphere just don't align with the high cost. We started with two beverages. My husband liked his Chopotini, but it was too sweet for my taste (as martinis often are). My Prosecco was served in a small champagne glass. Considering I got Prosecco recently from two different restaurants that gave me individual bottles which gave me almost two full glasses, I was disappointed with Choplin's meager pour for a similar price. The best part of our meal was the appetizers. My husband had the french onion soup, and I had the "Different Caesar." The soup was a tad salty, but still full of rich flavor, bread, and melted cheese. The grilled Caesar was amazing, and we loved the almonds, dressing, and shaved Parmesan. For our entrees, I had the crabcakes, and my husband had the duck. The crabcakes were slightly small, but didn't have too much filler. I enjoyed the vegetables, but didn't like the overly wet--and rather bland--turmeric rice. My husband's duck was fully cooked, rather than being served the usual medium-rare. He said it was flavorful but drier than usual, although the taste was improved somewhat by the orange sauce. The mashed potatoes needed salt. I have to comment on the atmosphere. Choplin's is very dark inside, and they were playing music wholly unsuitable for the image they likely want to portray. (For example, the mix we heard included Kool & the Gang's "Cherish.") Rather, they should have played quieter music like Sinatra or Big Band. Our server was attentive and very good. But overall, neither of us completed our meal thinking that we absolutely needed to return.

I tried the filet mignon, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The garlic butter on top added so much flavor without overpowering the steak. The grilled asparagus was fresh and had a nice smoky taste. Everything was cooked just right.

The hostess greeted us immediately upon walking in and showed us to our table. Their kids menu is nice and simple (burger, tenders, grilled cheese and even salmon). My kiddos chose the classic chicken tenders and fries. Their meals came out pretty quickly. Each plate came with three large tenders and a very generous amount of fries (which were well seasoned and tasted great). My husband and I started with the Spinach & Artichoke Dip. It was nice and warm and was also a great portion size. It would probably be sufficient for four people to share. The entrees took a while to come out, but in their defense, they got really busy. For my entree, I tried the Shrimp New Orleans. The presentation was great and again, it was a nice side. Although the meal tasted fine, I'm not sure about "the best on the menu". The service was great. All staff members were professional and attentive. The dining room and restrooms were clean. I love the patio and breezeway seating for nice days. Overall, I enjoyed our visit.

The decline in food quality and inattentive service have removed this restaurant from our rotation.

The ribeye cap was the highlight, super tender, and the eye had a great sear and a lot of flavor. Overall a really solid steak, especially if you like a slightly sweeter profile. Got the cream corn risotto on the side. It was really good but very rich, definitely something you can only have a few bites of before it starts to feel heavy. My wife ordered the pecan crusted chicken. The portion was huge, but it stayed really juicy and had a nice crunch on the outside. Easy to split or take leftovers home. Cocktails were great too. The Negroni was well balanced and the blackberry smash was super easy to drink. They had a fried shrimp special (ninja shrimp or something?) and that ended up being one of the best parts of the meal. Crispy, sweet and sour, and a great starter. Solid spot if you're in Mooresville and want a steakhouse that's a little more interesting than the usual options.

The place is lively without being too loud, you can easily have a conversation going and not have to shout at each other. Our server, Krystyna, took our drink orders and offered to put in an appetizer to start. We went with the deviled eggs, these are so delicious, but as I have said before, they are pricey. Entrees were next. We decided on the Tomahawk pork chop with charred carrots and ancient grain pilaf. It looked like a caveman's plate! The chop was tender and flavorful and the carrots were 3 whole carrots that you had to cut up. Very different. The best part was the ancient grain side. So, so good. Nice compliment to the chop and carrots. I had to take half home it was just so much food. Next entree was the 7oz Filet with Parmesan mashed potatoes. Garlic butter was added to the steak which finished it off nicely. It was cooked to the right temperature and looked delicious. We were interested in dessert, but not something so big. They have a large portion dessert menu, but we just wanted a small bite to finish our dinner with. If you ask, they can do some mini desserts for you. We tried the mini crème brûlée cheesecake. It is two squares of cheesecake with a bit of whipped cream, raspberry syrup and berries. Perfect size for two if you are quite full but just want a little something sweet. Overall, the service was good. We had to wait a bit for bread, but not a big deal. We enjoyed our night out before Valentine's Day. I still would like to come in for their weekend brunch.
