They truly have something for everyone. Want Asian? How about pizza? Maybe Italian? Coffee? Wings? Tacos? Soup, sandwich or salad? Tikka Masala? Falafel? -- you can easily sort by cuisine or even type in a keyword to find your item on a plethora of menus. The app is typically smooth sailing. It's not super glitchy, but it has its moments. I was initially dumbfounded by the low rating. However, if you look closely on when those ratings were provided, they were pre-pandemic. I have only ever used CHOMP post-pandemic, so maybe they didn't have their act together in the past, but I can affirmatively tell you that I have never been disappointed with the service I have received form CHOMP over the past several months. And trust me - they have delivered to our house A LOT. As a fellow Yelper mentioned, they have provided consistent, timely service with orders that never seem to be incorrect or incomplete. They provide opportunities for gift cards and discounts, and have an easy-to-navigate app from which to place orders. Most importantly, they are a local delivery service that seems to have the best interests of our local restaurants in mind as they try to create opportunities for them to stay relevant in a time when other large-scale, dominant delivery services try to move into our neighborhood to raise funds that won't go back to our direct community. Please support local businesses and be forgiving even if things don't go quite a smoothly as you may find ideal. I have used CHOMP a few times before so I was excited to see the Yelp promotion for free delivery! Our delivery was on time and our driver completed contactless delivery (an option in the app). I appreciated all the email updates (order placed, driver at restaurant, driver on the way, order delivered). Chomp has a great selection of local Iowa City area spots. I enjoy getting Chomp gift cards when I'm looking for a gift for someone since the app is easy to use and there are so many options to choose from. read more

Positives: This is definitely the most comprehensive food delivery service in the Iowa City area, especially since we do not have uber eats at this time. They are constantly adding new restaurants and at this point I can get almost anything I want using the app. Negatives: The delivery fees can be high--in some cases almost half the price of the food if you're ordering something that wasn't all too expensive to begin with. I guess the good part about this is that a couple of times it has stopped me from ordering unhealthy food I didn't need, but when you add delivery fee and tip for the driver expect to pay between $7 and $10 extra in a lot of cases. read more

I loved being able to schedule my delivery ahead of time - and the food came almost at that time (15minutes late), but food was still warm! In pandemic times, CHOMP is a welcome way to support local (twofold) on nights when I just don't have the energy to cook. I've used it now quite a few times, typically for Red Ginger sushi (I'll say that I feel like their strength, as with any food delivery service, is for colder meal options), and I've always been pleased with the ease of ordering and the extensive options. Why not five stars? As with any delivery service, I recognize that there is an upcharge to make it a functional business, which is why I don't mind paying the extra fees at checkout. However, the order I placed this week for Red Ginger totaled $70 on CHOMP, but the store receipt (still attached to the bag) was $12 cheaper. When I looked at the itemized receipt, I saw a pretty hefty increase for each item. So, if I'm placing a smaller order, I could see it still being worthwhile to prioritize convenience over cost, but on days I'm willing to drive or when I'm placing larger orders, I'd probably be inclined to pick up the food myself to avoid all of the extra fees. read more

I had countless problems with chomp. usually having food delivered over 30 mins late, sometimes ordering food and being called to tell me the restaurant was as closed and they didn't update their site. Tonight they did both, the first order I placed the restaurant was closed, despite it being available on the app, the second order was 35 mins late, fries soggy and burger room temp. Ordered a take-out order through CHOMP. The meal was cold when I picked it up less then 10 minutes after ordering. The soda was only 3/4 full and DIET. The kicker is that I was charged an additionally fee for "extra bbq sauce" only to find there was NO bbq sauce included when I got home. I would think the ordering company would be concerned about the accuracy of fulfilling their orders, but when I inquired w/ their representatives, a MANAGER told me I need to call the restaurant as this was a take-out order and therefore CHOMP wasn't responsible (even though I placed the order THROUGH CHOMP). Long story short: DON'T USE CHOMP FOR TAKE-OUT; You are not guaranteed any additional accuracy on your order and if it's screwed up, you'll have to call the restaurant anyway. This is really really a bad delivery service. Once again, I was told that my food has been delivered but it was not. I called the Chomp number, no one answered and no one returned my call. The voicemail said I should call the restaurant directly which I did, and the people at the restaurant said they couldn't do anything about it, which is a bunch of crap. What a let down. We ordered our food and were tracking the progress of our delivery. After 15 minutes it was confirmed by Jean Claude. After an hour and 15 minutes it still had not been picked up by the driver. I called the restaurant. They assured me that my food had been ready to go for sometime. They said they were going to buzz the driver again to tell him it's ready. After another 20 minutes and no progress made by chomp delivery I called the restaurant back. Still no sign of the delivery driver so my wife went and picked it up. Food is of course cold and soggy. Chomp delivery should change their name to chimp delivery because that's about as competent as they are. Look else where folks. I have called the chomp number listed on their website to place a complaint and get my money back for the tip I preleft the driver and my delivery fee back. No response as of now. read more

It's really nice having a delivery service that can deliver some of my favorites to North Liberty but not when you're food shows up late and cold. I've ordered via chomp probably 3-4 times now and my food always comes soggy, cold, and really late. Chomp gives you an estimated time of delivery, usually a 20-25 minute window. My orders have always been at least 15 minutes late. Just a waste of money in my opinion. read more

Corporate travelers beware. This service refuses to provide you with the restaurant receipt. If you're in need of a standardized itemized receipt, you definitely won't find it here. When I contacted them about the receipt situation I was informed that all I would be receiving from them was an emailed typed document that looked like I created it myself. I like using Chomp because they have a great variety of restaurants that I can order from. However, when I use this delivery service, part of my order is always missing, for example a drink or dessert item. There is no way for me to contact anyone about my order once it is dropped off and the drivers no longer answer their phones as soon as their order is completed. I am not sure if this is something Chomp can change, but I do believe their driver's should be responsible for double checking the orders and making sure their customers are receiving what they paid for. read more

We were staying at UIHC and thought this might be a nice change from the hospital food. Food was late, but more importantly lukewarm at best. One order was from Carlos O' Kelleys and is placed in tin foil containers. Staying in the hospital I didn't have any way to reheat. I used the chat box on Chomp Delivery website. They offered to give me a $5 credit on a future order. What a joke. I tried calling the number, which just went to a full voicemail box. They suggested I call the restaurant, although Chomp is the business that charged my credit card. Carlos O' Kelleys did give me a refund, but I would never use Chomp again or recommend it to anyone. Just a serious pain in the butt. Not what I needed to have to deal with when a family member was in the hospital for a craniotomy. I would suggest using Lazy Boy Delivery Service in Iowa City. They don't charge you a delivery fee if you are with family at the UIHC. read more
