They do indeed have a burrito section on their menu, but all of the burritos have sauce and cheese covering them, which effectively makes them enchiladas. I came for a burrito, but I left with what was essentially a plate of enchiladas. That's fine; I make do. My Burritos Michoacan were two tortillas filled with pork carnitas, and topped with green chili sauce and cheese. Rice and beans came on the side. It was tasty, but again, it was not a burrito. (Alright! I'm done belaboring this point. No burrito, no bueno. I'm sure you get it.) But, four stars because my meal came with complimentary chips and salsa, and the chips were outta sight. I liked using my chips to scoop up the rice and beans and carnitas. My meal was also big enough for two people to share. I ate my to-go meal in my car, which honestly, is the best place to eat a meal, especially a burrito-but-not-burrito meal. I bounced into Los Vaqueros soon after they opened at 11 a.m., and I was able to order my to-go food right there and then wait only about 10 minutes to receive it. There are some seats in the lobby that you can sit at while you wait. Parking can be a little iffy here. There is no designated parking lot, but there is street parking on the side of the restaurant. I wasn't able to find parking there, so I parked across the street.

Walking into the restaurant made me smile because it was crisp and clean. The beers were deliveredquickly and the we ordered some classics. The carnitas included big slices of avocado... so delicious. The tacos entree (to go) was reportedly as being awesome! My favorite part of Mexican is the chips and salsa which was really tasty. My own enchiladas were ok but I will probably not order them again. I was not happy with our particular seating arrangement because the "booth" seats were only intended for 1 person. We like to sit next to each other so we can hear each other better... I didn't ask for a different table but could have since there were more tables available. Just felt weird that I also couldn't set my purse next to me.

From the moment we sat down, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow mastered that perfect balance of checking in often without ever hovering. Those little things make such a difference, and she absolutely nailed it. I ordered the taco salad, and I know...it's "just" a taco salad. Except it wasn't. I've lost count of how many taco salads I've ordered around Indianapolis that arrived watery, bland, or completely lacking seasoning. This one was the complete opposite. Fresh ingredients, well-seasoned beef, creamy guacamole, crisp shell, and nothing turned soggy halfway through the meal. It honestly may still be my favorite taco salad in the city. We also ordered the fajitas, which came out sizzling hot with generous portions, and my frozen margarita was every bit as refreshing as it looked. The atmosphere deserves its own shoutout. There's a beautiful patio, a nice bar area if that's more your style, and while we were there, another table was celebrating a birthday. Instead of a quick song, the staff came out with a full-blown band! I'd never seen anything like it, and it made the whole restaurant feel festive and genuinely fun. Some restaurants check all the boxes. Great food, excellent service, fun atmosphere, and reasonable prices. This one does exactly that. 100/10. I'll happily keep coming back...again and again.

When the birria arrived you could tell the shell hadn't been dipped in the sauce. The meat lacked any flavor. I ordered the goat birria which was 3X more tinder than the beef.
