We'd had one of the pinots at a fancy restaurant a few years back and knew the place had a good reputation. We also appreciated the easy walk-in situation on a Saturday afternoon. The tasting room was casual and charming, part "mercantile," selling wine, of course, and sundry gift items and home goods. There was plentiful seating, some of it at the bar and some of it in what felt like a large living room, homily decorated with lots of art on the walls. It was pretty busy while we were there, but not in the least bit crowded. We sat at the bar, which was run by an enormous former football player (if I eavesdropped correctly) and a woman from New Zealand on the verge of retirement. I'd watch that movie. We were helped by the woman, who was friendly and knowledgeable, a great guide to the house wines. The flight started with the 2025 Rosé of Mourvédre, then went to Liquid Farm's Chardonnays and Pinots. There was the 2024 White Hill Chardonnay, the 2024 Golden Slope Chardonnay, the 2023 "SBC" Pinot Noir, the 2023 Fiddlestix Pinot Noir, and the 2023 Four Pinot Noir. The wines were fantastic across the board. The tasting fee was $40, on the steep side, probably because the space invites casual drinking. It was easily waived, with one flight waived per two bottles purchased. The wines were all between $30 and $94, so this was easy math. The kind of easy math that had us leaving Los Olivos with a trunk--and back seat--full of wine. We picked up a White Hill Chardonnay, an "SBC" Pinot, and two of the Fiddlestix, a prime haul that we look forward to drinking. We had a lovely time at Liquid Farm and would recommend it to anyone wine tasting in Los Olivos.

We had tried their collaboration wine at a wine bar in SB the day before and knew we needed to come check them out. My partner, my dog Enzo, and I were greeted by Ari, who was truly amazing and made our time there so fun, welcoming, and educational. We each grabbed a tasting, and I genuinely loved all of the wines -- which never happens. We came right at opening and sat inside, which gave us time to really enjoy the space and chat with Ari. He shared so much about the farm, their methods, the wine club perks, and the philosophy behind what they do. He made us feel completely at ease and was so open to all my beginner wine questions. I loved that the tasting included a surprise pour, and by the end, I felt like Ari really understood our taste and recommended the perfect wines -- plus other places to check out in the area. We left with an amazing bottle we can't wait to open. The space itself is beautiful: local goods for sale, stunning photography of the farm, a nice bar area, indoor and outdoor seating, and very dog‑friendly energy. What you want in a host is someone who is passionate about the wines and represents them well, is knowledgeable, and who "reads" what you are enjoying and adjusts the flight accordingly. She was all of those things, plus warm and humorous. She made it a first rate tasting experience. We also appreciate a wine maker who risks making small production varieties what are somewhat unusual in an area, and Tercero does this, as well as making the usual suspects for the SYV/SRH. Mujer con Uvas is a wonderful blend of Pinot, Nebbiolo and Grenache, Mi Caballo is Cabernet and Grenache. Both excellent. Then it was Thrift Store Dress which is Carignan, Petit Verdot and Syrah and Joyeux Coq which is Petite Sitah and Grenache. Loved them all. Seriously. And of course all the labels are literal and amazing pieces of arts. So worth a trip to Santa Ynez. Sorry. Had to edit because I forgot to talk about the new space, which is absolutely magnificent. I loved the intimacy of the old room, but this is truly something special. There are comfortable places to sit inside, places to sit outside and a cool space in the back... and you are always surrounded by incredible art and photographs and beautiful bottles, and most importantly a welcoming positive energy. We came with our pup, and Google Maps took us up Tepusquet from the 166. Don't do it. Just don't. I love a good adventure, but this didn't make any sense for being any faster or more efficient. It's windy, narrow, and steep. Poor June was car sick from the drive. While the drive had some great views, we were anxious to get to Cambria. Upon arrival we noticed that the tasting room was uphill from the vineyards, providing a great view. I will say that the tasting room was cut into a little crevice so the views from the deck are limited. However, there is a beautiful private tasting area on a hill (when you turn into the winery parking lot) that would be a fantastic spot for good views. The wine was nice, plenty of variety. And I appreciated the unique guidance of wines from the staff. By providing your preferred wines and notes they will create a personal tasting menu. We also opted for the charcuterie for 2 which was perfect. Plenty of bites to accompany our tasting. Because wine is so unique it's always difficult to review, so I prefer to focus on the experience as a whole, and Cambria nailed it. We would definitely return and hang out by their fireplace.
