If I could give this store zero stars, I would…read more *This is a warning to those looking to adopt a cat or dog from this store.* PetSmart was in a partnership with Halfway Home Rescue for 17 years up until recently. Halfway Home is a well noted rescue with high standards who values the care and placement of cats and dogs. PetSmart had an area where you could see adoptable cats from Halfway Home in the store. PetSmart decided that numbers of animals moved in and out of the store were more important than the well being of the actual animals. Halfway home always takes the time to make sure to check references, vet history, home environment, and makes sure each animal has the medical care they need. Halfway Home was asked to leave because PetSmart wanted cats moved every 22 days out of the store. For anyone who has ever adopted an animal, you know this is a slower process to ensure happiness for both owner and more importantly the pet. In short, PetSmart is more concerned with the all might dollar and ultimately corporate greed. I along with many others will be boycotting this store in all locations.

Perhaps worst of all, coupled with the price increases and policy changes, their staff members have been borderline rude the last few times I've gone. They've ignored me when I walked in until I greet them myself and even then they act as if it's a burden that I came for my scheduled appointment. It was very weird and uncomfortable. I'm disappointed because I used to recommend them highly, but I think there are better options in the area when considering the exorbitant prices, required follow up visits, and unfriendly staff.

I understand they said his hair was severely matted but a simple phone call would have given me the chance to discuss other options. When I expressed how upset I was Angel told me "This is what happens when you bring in a dog with matted hair." I found that extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. They didn't even offer a discount or try to make things right. I was honestly heartbroken when I saw my dog because he doesn't even look like himself anymore. I understand hair grows back but communication and respect should be the bare minimum. Please think twice before trusting this place with your pets. I will never be coming back.

My dogs also had an anal gland problem. My vet didn't see an issue. Because smelly dog and anal gland problems aren't serious health issues. But it was an annoyance in my life. Someone told me about Thomaston feed and how I might want to switch foods. So I went over to Cheshire one day and Nicci switched me to different brand of food called natures variety. She said because it's a richer food, I don't have to feed as much. My dog was overweight at the time so she told me to feed him a little less. Which is perfect because I have dachshunds and it is dangerous for them to be over weight because they are prone to back problems. Within a week of them being in the new food, they stopped smelling. I couldn't believe it. When we ran out of the Natures Variety, my father started feeding them pedigree without my knowledge and I noticed them smelling again!! And sure enough I found out they had been eating something different. There is no denying that there are good and bad foods out there for your dog. And Nicci is very passionate and will take the time to explain the difference between the different foods. And it turned out she was right! My dogs are older now. I have a 10 year old and a 14 year old and they are now extremely healthy and active!

They were looking to recoup the deficit as the employee undercharged me. The owner basically accused me of trying to get something for free even though I agreed to pay for the EMPLOYEES MISTAKE . If I had been a cash paying customer, they would have had no recourse. Very disappointing that I was treated so rudely. They make supporting local businesses difficult.

I bought my dog from a breeder, and they used a specific brand of dog food that's difficult to find. I looked online and found that they carried this brand, so I went there. Unfortunately, they had every other type but the puppy kind. The owner said they could order it, and it would take two days to get there. Two days later, I went back and for some reason the company didn't ship it to them. They were extremely apologetic, and said they would call around a few stores to get it for me. An hour later, they got the food and offered to deliver it to my house! 20 minutes later they had the food at my door. I've gone there ever since, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Plus, they give my dog a free treat every time. I'm happy I found a great pet store only a few miles down the road.
