My family and I recently moved to Lancaster, CA in the Antelope Valley from the San Francisco bay area and we bought a house. I noticed that one of my rooms where my home office is barely had any airflow coming in the vent and my compressor outside was loud, luckily I had home warranty. So I got a guy who checked everything out and all he said was change the air filter and he recommended the size of the filter I should get (note that this is my first home so I have barely any knowledge of the equipments). One new air filter later and that didn't do anything. So I went on yelped and looked for somebody to check out what was really happening. That's when I found Clear Choice Home Services, I gave them a call and John answered and right there I felt that we instantly clicked. During that one phone call he already scheduled a free estimate inspection to check out what's happening with my HVAC. The process was really straight forward and simple. On the day of the inspection, Levin from Clear Choice greeted me at the door and explained to me what he was going to do. He was really respectful and kind when doing the inspection, he would always put shoe covers, so he didn't get the floor dirty, he would carefully place his tools against the wall or on the floor, so he wouldn't scratch or damage anything, and on top of that, he would always ask me permission to check out different sections. An hour later after the inspection, he told me what was going on with the house, he mentioned that my compressor needs a tune up, the furnace needs a tune up because it was covered in duct and dried up oil, the airflow to my office was caused because of an undersized duct which is why there was barely air any coming, he also said the air filter the other guy recommended was the wrong size, so Levin gave me a free air filter! After the diagnostic, what I really appreciated about Clear Choice Home Services is they gave me options on how to fix the problems. Options with the size of the work and price options. Other companies would of just tried to manipulate me on getting the best option. After thinking about it and seeing the photos Levin took, I had an undersized duct to my office, but the other ductwork in the attic were so old and the plastic exterior melted off! You could see the insulation. I knew I wanted to future proof my new home, so I picked the option to replace all the ductwork in the attic, install a compressor-saving kit, and do maintenance tune up on my compressor and Furnace. After picking my option, Levin scheduled when the work would happen, and luckily they were able to come in 2 days later!! On the day of the Installation/Work, Levin and John both came! They were really professional and got the work done in one day! After getting everything done, they took their time with my wife and I to explain what they did and showed us pictures. They also spent extra time tuning up the airflow, so each room gets the perfect amount of Airflow. Overall, this was a really amazing experience, John and Levin were professional, kind, trustworthy, and great communicators, and the most important part is that they were real with me, like how a brother or a close friend would talk to me. I got my first Christmas present early this year from Clear Choice. There were a few random outlets not working in my garage and outside the house. I checked the fuse box to see if it jumped. It didn't. Was it an emergency? No. But having Christmas without outdoors lights kind of sucks, but can't call that emergency. John came through late Christmas Eve when it already got dark outside. This is one of the most amazing service companies I've ever worked with as a homeowner. John answered my call after 5:00 PM when our furnace blower stopped working. The HVAC company I previously used doesn't pick up after 5PM and I needed to get the AC repaired quickly. Their customer scheduling service is good and free consultation for the month of November was an awesome touch. Unfortunately a $600 for a new thermostat install and C-wire is beyond reason. I held back literal laughs when the man gave me the quote and reasoning behind the quote. He probably thought I was some young guy that he could quickly take advantage of. Or probably thought I wouldn't come to Yelp or Google to warn others. According to the fair labor market for this particular job and based on various other quotes from local service vendors, this job should have run me around $325. So $600 is a slap in the face for me. Our AC/Heat completely stopped working. Both zones/thermostats stopped working and were not displaying anything. I tried the usual checking the circuit breaker, checking the batteries on the thermostat and reseating everything. Still it was not working. I looked on yelp and I always forget that when I send out a request it pings everyone in the local area and I am lucky that this feature exists or else I would have never have met John. I contacted Clear Choice Home Services and several other vendors through yelp for my upstairs AC unit which was blowing hot air due to circuit breaker constantly tripping after some time. Right away I got a positive response from Clear Choice Home Services asking for me date and time that works for me. John was very professional, gave me a call letting me know he was on his way and then throughout the service and trouble shooting process explained me everything in good detail as I was very curious. He found issue with the circuit breaker in my electrical panel and showed me what was causing the wire to come out loose. He went to Home Depot and got a replacement breaker right away as he didn't have the exact match in his van for me. He replaced the capacitor, checked other connections and also installed a hard start kit as well to make sure the problem was fully resolved. Overall I am so glad that I am up and running before the hot days return and feel John and the team provided far greater value then what I paid them and really excellent customer service! Thank you John, I only leave the original review here so others can learn from it, but I will make sure giving a second chance to Clear Choice Home Services in the future thanks to John. *OR Took me a while to write this review because I wanted to make sure I got this right, and after some research and asking around. I have a 2-year-old house, brand new construction, but I wanted to follow the AC unit maintenance guidelines for yearly checkup. I skipped the first year, so this second year, I was ready. I looked around and went to Clear Choice Home Services, had a few exchanges with their John and set a time for a visit. I was certain that $50 is a good price just for looking into this, after all it is brand new. The service provider who came here was very nice, so it was easy for me to trust him. He checked the AC condenser unit and took pictures, then went up to check the furnace in the attic. He asked me to turn the heater on for 5 minutes, then after that, when he came down, he told me there is water leakage and I should fix it. He offered to go up, so I climbed the ladder, and he showed me the water puddle with his hand. It was just a tiny bit, but he explained that we should look into it because it could cause significant damage later on if the drainage is blocked. I asked him how much it would cost, and he said he might need to replace a part there, but he wouldn't know what the problem was until he opened it up. So the conclusion was he didn't know what was causing it, and it would cost me $499 for this service. He took pictures to show me, which I was glad he did for later. I said, "Okay, go ahead," even though I had a bad feeling about this, but I didn't have time to doubt it or the means to check it myself. Since he was super nice, I just went along with it. On the way up, he said, he will also fix something outside for me at the same price, which was really just moving up a cover for the electrical cable there that was a little bit down. It didn't seem like a big deal and took a few seconds to do. After a while working in the attic, I asked him if he found the problem, then he said oh yea it was just a pipe that was disconnected, so I asked him if it was still going to cost $499 since it didn't seem like a big deal. He said, okay, yea let's do $449, I was still not sure what was going on, but I agreed. He kept on working and cleaning the area and stayed there for a long while vacuuming a tiny area. Here is the good part. After he was done with all the cleaning, I asked to see the pictures, and I saw that disconnected pipe. I asked him, "Wait, this is the before pictures, right?" He said, "Yes." Then I asked, "How come you didn't see it before when you said you didn't know the cause and it would cost me $499 to find out? It's clearly visible in the before picture." He replied with, "Oh, I don't see when I take pictures. I only check it after." Then it hit me that something was fishy, but I played along. I just wanted this to be over. When it came down to payment, we had to call the representative/super, John, and I asked him what the reason was for the price hike. After I questioned the service man about the fact that it was an easy fix and not really a repair, he changed the price from $449 to $339. To conclude, my experience with this company was disappointing, to say the least. While the service man who came to my house was polite, I can't help but feel that he took advantage of my trust and lack of knowledge to charge me a much higher price for a simple fix. Furthermore, the fact that he missed such an obvious "problem" with my AC unit makes me question his competence in performing the job. The fact that the price changed multiple times throughout the process also raises suspicions of this "problem" to begin with. And was this pipe disconnected for 2 years and I never had a leak? I don't know, maybe... you decide for yourself. While John from was quick to offer me another discount when I questioned the high price, it didn't make up for the overall negative feeling I had after the visit. I hope that others will be cautious when considering this company for their AC service needs, and in general, make sure to take pictures or put a camera in places you can't see. read more

Excellent! I am a new, first-time home owner, so a bit in the dark about HVAC issues. Could not have had a better experience with Clear Choice. Highly recommend! My HVAC system was causing a weird gurgling sound through our bathtub and the unit is located our roof in a hard to reach spot. He gave us a couple of options to consider but recommended a super efficient variable speed heat pump AC unit.
