The Rundown: chain sweet shop serving up sweet streets, with options for anyone and reasonable pricing. The Review: craving something simple and sweet, we stopped in (being a later hour) and decided on ice cream to satisfy the sweet tooth. We were met by Cornelius who was absolutely amazing- super friendly and personable making you feel like you were interacting with an old friend. They offered a nice variety of flavors, including unique ones (like anniversary cake). They offer samples, but only one per person. So choose wisely - BUT the spoon samples are big. Plenty to share in a group so you can take a taste to find something you enjoy. Topped off with an oreo, and we were on our way to enjoying our sweet treats and having had a surprisingly lovely visit in the store thanks to the staff. read more

We walked by this on the strip in Gatlinburg and Hubby was craving ice cream so we stopped in. I liked that they had candy and ice cream and a very large variety. I wasn't as impressed with the customer service. Hubby asked what the "cake batter" ice cream tasted like and the reply was "uh... cake batter" with an eye roll. Well guess what... he ended up getting it and it actually has other stuff in it too. He did like it which was good. The check out employee also seemed a bit put out with having to help. Stopped in to check out the distilling place next door and saw this one so had to check it out. Very bright and open space with lots of colors and things to attract attention, primarily of children i'd guess. A wide variety of items to choose from and perhaps we'll go back and select some other items next time. We got some ice cream and it was good. I've had far better ice creams at a far better price, which is why this isn't a higher review, but it was good. I'd like to go back and try some of the fudge or maybe the apple variations. Never heard of Chocolate Monkey, but my friend had and she wanted to grab a couple of candy apples to bring home with her. She said she'd had the apple pie ones and they were really, really good. I sent photos to my son, and he chose the one with sprinkles and chocolate drizzle. I thought it was a little expensive for one apple, but when I finally got it back to Florida and my son, he chopped it up and served me a chunk, and it was so good I wish I'd gotten three more. My son also loved it...my son loved that they used a green apple and we both thought it was so fresh, sweet, and delicious! So now I know what a Chocolate Monkey is! They did have other sweet treats like ice cream, fudge, and truffles, but I'm looking forward to more candy apples, and I'm happy I discovered tonight that they ship! read more

Here you can find just about any kind of sweets you can think of: ice cream, candy, caramel apples, fudge (which you can sample for free!) This place is right on the strip in Gatlinburg. We came here later on at night after dinner. It is open until 10pm so one of the later ice cream places in the area. They have much more than ice cream though, including baked treats. Pretty much everything you need or a sugar high in a small space. The line wraps around on the inside in an orderly fashion, passing by the ice cream first. That is what we were there for so we ordered and were eating while waiting in the line to pay. They have lots of variety of flavor and was priced well for being in a touristy area. Minus 1-star for the employees were not wearing masks while serving food. read more

A chocoholic's paradise. Chocolate is one of my favorite things so of course I wanted to go. The store is located right in the middle of the strip so it's not hard to miss. Also it's the only place that has a kiddie ride right by the door so it's very different than many of the other stores. Right when you walk in, the first thing you see is all the different candy apples. each one is decorated beautifully to the point where you don't even want to eat it. They also have truffles, ice cream and candy. I tried the chocolate covered strawberries and the chocolate covered cheesecake. Both were very good. I've never had food from Chocolate Monkey that was bad. The biggest reason why I always come back to Chocolate Monkey is the people that work there. Everyone that I have met has been so sweet and really take pride in their work. I visited two different times and I luckily got to see the same people. The shift lead remembered me from the first visit and she gave me a discount because of that. How sweet is she? The chokehold that their caramel apples have on me every time I come to Gatlinburg is unreal. All the ladies are always so sweet and are great at recommending what type of fudge to get when I struggle. The smells are heavenly and will drag me in from the street. The caramel apple with the chocolate and peanut butter chips is always my go-to, along with the chocolate peanut butter fudge and the dark chocolate bear claws. At any given time in Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge you can probably throw a rock and hit a Chocolate Monkey. If you stop in one, the candy apples are a must. (By candy I mean chocolate and candy bits and more chocolate!) We got the heath bar and it was so good! Kids liked the ice cream too. So if you have a sweet tooth you can stop on by any location to find something good! 4 stars because it's not as good as your local chocolatier of course, this is mass produced tourist fare. But stop by, have them slice up an apple and enjoy it with your family as you walk down the strip and you will not be disappointed you did! Walking into this place the first thing you see are the beautifully displayed caramel apples, and so many different kinds too! And huge! Didn't get to try those but did get to eat some of their fudge which was delicious. They have a pretty decent selection including some flavors that you don't normally see at the fudge shops (the monkey business and sea salted caramel were a few really good ones). They also sell a bunch of other sweets and chocolate & monkey related souvenirs. Their website boasts the friendliest employees, and they really were. I can't remember the name of the person who helped us but she was absolutely fabulous & friendly. They let us sample the different flavors and gave a monkey stamp to my 3-year-old nephew's hand. Anyone who knows me can understand why I was drawn into this store like a bug to light. Little bit of a monkey lover here and they had the cutest little bouncing monkey doodads in the window. I saw visions of that little monkey bouncing in my office through the week. After I walked in and saw the little bouncing monkeys were $19.99 each the little voice in my head was like "oh heck no" and I was close to turning around when I saw the fudge. We had every intention of getting fudge while in Gburg, but were scouting out prices and varieties before purchasing, so I browsed. They have more flavor varieties than any other fudge shop I've seen. What really sparked my interest was the mint chocolate fudge, knew I was coming back for it if we saw it nowhere else. We ended up here after all to get the mint chocolate fudge. Then I saw the sign where if you bought two 1/2 lbs ($7.95 each) you get a 1/2 lb free, averaging out to a little over $5 for 1/2 lb which is a better price than the other fudge sellers. The staff was very friendly and encouraging of samples and explained the flavors well. I chose the mint chocolate and the dark chocolate and caramel topped with sea salt for myself. The mint choc is like eating those soft mint candies that you get sometimes at showers and weddings, yum yum. For the dark choc and caramel with sea salt the lady was sure to explain that the salt is on the top so you have to eat the entire depth together so you can enjoy the sweet and salty flavor without getting the salt in the last bite. Both flavors are more unique than the fudge I'm used too and I've really enjoyed them. My husband got the peanut butter pie which is peanut butter fudge swirled with chocolate and topped with crumbled chocolate. He said he really likes it because it's not too sweet. Their fudge is different than others I've had in that its a little soft and melts in your mouth. I could have browsed through their entire collection of monkey knick knacks but the husband was huffing. I couldn't blame him though; all the stuffed monkeys hanging through the store meant he had to duck to walk. Tall people problems. They had other candy delicacies but I was only focused on the fudge. I would highly suggest stopping here for your candy wants and they mentioned their store that they just opened in Sevierville also. read more

Then the trouble began: I asked for her least favorite and she couldn't give me a straight answer, I get we all have different taste buds but just answer me. We stopped here on our way out of town last week. I wanted a caramel/chocolate apple and this was 110% the best place to stop for it. It was VERY good, one of the best I have ever had. I got one with Caramel, Chocolate, and peanuts on it. They also can cut them for you, but if you dont plan to eat it right then the apple will turn brown so don't do that otherwise. We also got some fudge and it was amazing. I got snickers and it's very rich but very tasty. The service was the best part. Very patient, helpful, offered samples, helped me pick out what I wanted and was nice the entire time. If you want candy, apples, or fudge stop in here.
