Let me tell you how much I hate going to the dentist. This is a trip I don't mind postponing. However, I like to keep a good dental hygiene but the decision of picking a great dentist isn't always an easy one. My company recently change insurance plans leaving me alone for hungry vampire dentist to feed off my carcass. I've had a lot of dentist do very little and collect a lot of money. But Dr. Kenneth Cho is not that guy. I am happy to report that he is a really pleasant guy... and very gentle ... The man knows his business... I felt very comfortable and frankly it was the best cleaning I've ever had. My coworkers like him too! They have 6pm appointments and Saturday appointments too. They take most insurance plans and the receptionist is very accommodating I recommend him to anyone looking for a great dentist. Dentist Joke: Dentist: I have to pull the aching tooth, but don't worry it will take just five minutes. Patient: And how much will it cost? Dentist: It's $90.00. Patient: $90.00 for just a few minutes of work??? Dentist: I can extract it very slowly if you like. read more

After an absolutely horrible dentist experience back in Chicago, I made an effort to Google and Yelp every NYC dentist covered by my insurance plan (CIGNA Dental HMO). Dr. Cho fit the bill. First off, Dr. Cho is extremely considerate. He does the cleaning himself, gives you goggles and a large chest covering so you don't get a drop of goop on you during the cleaning, and even rubs lip balm on your lips so you don't get chapped. I didn't think he was the most gentle (although I do have some sensitivity so maybe that's why I feel differently than the reviewers below) but TOTALLY worth it because he got my teeth SPARKLING clean. Most cleanings I've gotten start to lose their effect after 2-3 months - but with Dr. Cho it lasted for a good 4-5 months and just in time for my second cleaning of the year. I love Dr. Cho! I'm very picky when it comes to my health and teeth. Recently, I had a root canal emergency and he cleared/ changed other client's appt to see me and fix the problem. Gave me a temporal solution and then fixed it completely. He was very detailed and made me feel comfortable through every step of the procedure! I'm have gone to him since I moved to the city and won't change him at all! The clean up is also great and gives you great advices on cleaning and products that are better without making u feel like u will never go back to his office! Worth it! Dr Cho is great! I be been a patient for many years, he is very careful and precise with his work and, he tells you advices that actually helps you instead of trying to make more money. plus he is very skillful any shots given by him never hurts. I never had any issues with him or his staff but his (new?) receptionist/ assistant ? after they moved to this new location. that is a whole difference story. she has an an attitude problem and should not be in the servicing industrial. I understand everyone is human and has bad days too but do not take it out on a customer. be professorial and talk pleasantly to your customer. I never had issues like this with his prior receptionist (a nice well manner young man) I will be informing Dr Cho of this next chance I get because he should be informed how his staff is treating his clients. read more

I hate going to the dentist , and i love this place! Fast, clean, and takes my insurance. The only reason it doesnt get a 5 star rating is because their phones never pick up! Its tough to get them on the phone and the receptionists have very minimal communication skills.. read more

Been coming here for a few years now. Dr. Cho is more gentle than other dentists I've been to. And he will always see you on time so this is definitely not one of those doctors that make you wait hours for your appointment. His new assistant (the Hispanic woman not the Asian male receptionist) is extremely rude. I asked her a few questions about the anesthesia I was getting for a filler and she answered each with an attitude like I was doing something wrong. I am so happy that I found Dr. Cho. I found him randomly through my insurance plan, his office happened to be in a convenient location for me. He was really easy and gentle, one of the best cleaning experiences I've ever had. I also had a wisdom tooth extracted and he was calm and assuring, it was pretty much painless! His staff is really friendly and send you reminder emails and/or phone calls when its time to make another cleaning appointment, which I'm thankful for because I'd probably never follow up otherwise. read more

UPDATE: So, a couple months later, I have had to pay thousands of dollars for a root canal performed by a great endodontist, then had my old dentist create the final crown (and temporary crown). I will never be going back to Dr. Kenneth Cho's office, as the lack of attention to detail and ridiculous lack of correct office protocol and followthrough has led me to confirm that patients should steer clear of his office. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Cho last year. The wait was short and he was very professional. I wanted to go in for my annual this year but could not get a hold of anyone on the phone. The receptionist has not picked up any of my calls or returned any of my voicemail for the past 2 weeks. Will find another dentist in town with a competent receptionist. read more

We went here after a HORRIBLE experience at American Dental. My 6-yr old son was terrified thanks to AD, and Nancy the hygienist put him at total ease. The dentist was really calm and easy going. My 6-yr old is no longer terrified of the dentist. For my experience, the dentist did not do the cleaning, and the dentist was not Dr. Cho himself but a woman whose name I did not catch. They do put Vaseline on the lips to help with chapping,and the reason for the large coverings is that they use a powder fluoride when they are done and it gets very messy. But my teeth are clean! They dentist addressed all my needs, and even fixed a mouth guard made by a previous dentist that was pinching my gums. The office itself is SMALL. Very small. And when we went they are doing work in the lobby and the office next door but it was clean in the office. Not brand new sparkly but clean. The office staff was polite and smiled. May seem like an odd comment but its never a good experience when you deal with office or front desk people who look unhappy or are miserable. They Gave us quotes for work to be done right away. I would gladly recommend this place. My husband has to finish up a root canal started elsewhere so if it goes well I will update with a higher review. read more

I've been a patient here for several years. I never had a real issue. The office is small and sort of run down and the office staff changes every time I go but I had never had a problem until recently. I tried to get in for an emergency and was not able to reach anyone or have anyone call me back in response to my multiple voice messages. Their website says they are available for emergencies. When I finally got a call back I was told I can't get in until next Wednesday (a week and a half) away as they are "booked solid". I had been unimpressed with them the last time I went and was planning on finding a new dentist anyway. This forced my hand and in the middle of an emergency situation too. Think again before you go to this office if you expect a prompt and caring response. read more

I've gone here for three years. They are prompt and extremely polite and dr. Cho is great and very nice. All I have had are cleanings but they are thorough and the best cleanings I've had, while somehow also being quick. The Dr. Cho I saw is a woman. The staff in the office are very sloppy. First of all, they are rude over the phone. I was trying to see whether they can see me earlier as I have more free time before my appointment. She just answered one sentence over the phone:" you are not busy, but we are busy.". Then when I showed up in the office, they sent 4 staff every 5 min to tell me the Dr will come shortly, which made me wait for 20 min after I sat on the chair. The Dr is very impatient to explain the pros and cons of treatment and she made me feel bad about my previous dental cleaning and my teeth in general. I feel bad for my teeth and the Dr did not help me to feel encouraged. She just briefly talked about the plan without explaining the reason and the outcome. She was trying to leave in a hurry and I have to stop her to ask questions, but all she said carelessly is :" it is your choice." When I left, I saw her and the other staff were happily chatting with another korean patient in Korean, which is totally different from how she treated me. I don't know whether it is because of races. I left the office in a snowy rainy day and walked to the subway station. I missed 5 calls from her dental office during my walk and accepted the 6th one, the receptionist asked me to walk back to pay $5 copay for the visit. I don't know what to say, but tell her to send me the bill. read more

I've been going to Dr. Cho for three years now, based on a coworker's recommendation. I have not been disappointed! The staff is always very friendly, calling and emailing to remind me of my appointments. The hygienists that do the cleaning have been nice and polite. I love the post-cleaning feeling afterwards. Dr. Cho himself then comes in to examine you, he is super sweet. Always pleasant and clear in explaining procedures. Overall, I am so happy to have Dr. Cho as my dentist. read more

I'd had terrible experiences with other dentists in the city leaving my bite uneven between visits, disregarding any of my complaints of discomfort, and greatly condescending to me. Through getting second opinions I even discovered that some dentists were lying to me about cavities. When I found Dr. Cho's office, a very unassuming and basic space staffed by friendly, timely people, I knew I was in better hands. Went in for an emergency appointment after my wisdom tooth started hurting and gums got swollen, the staff was very courteous and Dr Cho was very nice as well, kept joking the whole time and kept me distracted while extracting my wisdom tooth, he wasn't pushy at all and kept me informed on what he was doing through out the procedure from x-rays to the actual extraction. read more

Absolutely the worst experience at a dentist I have ever had. A routine dental cleaning has resulted in a gum infection that I am still suffering through. The damaged portion of my gum feels like it's on fire. An inexperienced dental hygienist damaged my gums during a routine dental cleaning. The place does not look particularly clean and I've never even met Dr. Cho ( I really don't think he ever goes to the office which appears to be run mainly by dental hygienists). It feels like a patient mill. You have been warned! read more

Do not trust this practice! Dr. Cho claimed he could not save my tooth and wanted to shave 3 teeth and put in a bridge! I went somewhere else and just got a cap.They have done insurance fraud and charged me for things they did not do. They also claimed to have made me a night guard when in fact it was an Invisalign retainer which I have almost bit through and was charged more then double the cost. Unfortunately I had to switch dentists because Kenneth Cho insists on taking, and charging for, copious x-rays every 6 months despite my healthy, cavity-free teeth (probably an insurance scam to cover his NYC rent). When I requested my x-rays for my new dentist, Kenneth Cho was on vacation for over 2 weeks and could not provide them in time for my appointment with my new dentist. I still have not received them, despite the office assistant (Annie) saying that emailing them would be "fast and easy." Right. He's a flake and a scammer. read more

My first visit was really good, the technician did a good job cleaning my teeth. I had to get a root canal, but I still have problems with it. The crown looks way to wide, and it is not aligned to the rest of the teeth, it looks a little out from the rest of the teeth. It also hurts when I am eating or when it touches the lower tooth. I paid $700.00 for this crown and I will definitely getting it adjusted on my next visit. Now, I know that my brother is going to kill me, but I have to say this: I took my brother there on April for a check up, unfortunately, he was told that he needed a root canal, (even though he never felt any pain) My big concern is that till this day he hasn't gotten his crown yet. They haven't been able to make a good crown for him and he has been with a temporary crown since April. Every time he goes there to get his crown fix, it never works. We have lost track of how many times he has gone to the dentist literally for nothing. He has taken so many time from work, and that is a big problem. I think that this is unacceptable for the amount of money that this procedure costs. And I started to question their diagnosis about him needing a root canal because he never felt any discomfort. I have been tempted to call they and inquire about this situation, but my brother does not want me to do it. So, I have refrained myself from letting them know that we are not happy with their root canal procedure. My verdict is that, they are good with the cleaning and maybe with the first stages of the root canal procedure, but they really suck at making and putting crowns. They really need to get good at it and not being so unconsidered with people's time. My advise: If you are going for a root canal, keep in mind that you might need more than 4 visits to get your crown fix and probably you won't be completely satisfy with it. read more

only met dr cho for a few minutes but i enjoyed them! he was super pleasant, to the point, and not pushy like many doctors. the rest of his staff is for the most part super sweet. i have been a few times for cleaning and whitenings, and have had really positive experiences with the girl/s who worked on me. professional, thorough and kind. facilities, so-so. not the worst. not the best. front desk girl, seemed a little weird/cold to me but might have been that her english wasn't great. i don't know. maybe she was just new. either way, they are generally accommodating and provide good service. read more

Everything was fine with my son's and my cleaning until Dr. Cho casually asked my son if he wanted his very loose babytooth extracted. We said sure, why not and then he proceeded to charge me when we were leaving. He never informed me of the rate, and worse, he asked my 10 year old son in the most casual manner that one would have never assumed he would charge. I could have pulled it out myself. Absolutely love Dr. Cho! I never had to deal with the woman that some of the other reviews mention- she sounds awful though! Hopefully she is gone because I have been there 4 times in the past year and a half and have never seen her. Let me start by saying that I am absolutely and completly petrified of the dentist in general. I dont know if I had a bad experience as a kid that I mentally blocked out or what but I hate the dentist way more than the normal person. I would rather go to the doctor and get shots 100 times than even go to the dentist once. But my old coworkers go to Dr. Cho, love him, and referred me to go there. I had my wisdom theeth taken out (2 at a time). The first two were super easy and relatively painless. Dr. Cho was very calming and explained everything really well. Again I was very nervous cause I HATE dentists and I was near tears- and he was able to calm me down. The next experience was my 2nd two being taken out. My roots were curved so it took A LOT of time to get the bottom one out. Dr. Cho refused to give up and leave a piece of the tooth in (which would have cause me a lot of trouble and pain later). He was totally reassuring and eventhough it wasnt a great thing to have to go through he made it a lot better than it could have been. This was done on the Friday before Hurricane Sandy hit. I was in a good amount of pain afterwards and the amount of pain killers that he had given me, which were MORE than enough the first time around with the extraction not being complicated, were not enough. Since Sandy had hit the city and pretty much phone lines and all that were down (and I obviously couldnt get into the city) I was pretty much stuck. I was freaking out a little bit but Dr Cho and his assitant Cayu kept in close touch with me via email. They called in more pain killers and antibiotics to a pharmacy in Jersey so I could get them and followed up with me at least every 2 days, if not every day (again- knowing how complicated of an extraction it was). I really could not suggest a better dentist!!! read more
