I have seen a chiropractor many times before and had always left his office feeling fixed. I do not let chiropractors adjust my body using a drop table. For me I find the drop table very painful, jarring and ineffective. My body best responds from manual adjustments. When I called I gave my insurance and expressed that I did not want the drop table to be used in my adjustments, the receptionist assured me the table would not be used. I was also told I would have to pay $80 for my visit and that would satisfy my copay for insurance. I was in a lot of sciatica pain and I needed relief ASAP so the day after I was able to get an appointment. I came in on a very chilly day and I barely had a moment to warm up when the receptionist sternly told me to remove my shoes. That was clue #1 I was about to have an expensive, strange, treatmentless chiropractic experience . The Dr. comes to retrieve me and she is seemingly friendly and welcoming. I explained my pain and my dislike of the drop table and she told me, "Here we do gentle adjustments." I wasn't sure what that meant but relaxed myself into her care. This woman talked incessantly for about 20 minuets while she "adjusted me." She barely touched me and her "adjustments" were her just applying pressure on certain areas, no actual manual adjustments. She then said I would need to see her every week for the next few months. I left there feeling still in pain and like I had thrown $80 in the garbage. There's no way I was EVER GOING BACK!!! Luckily shortly there after a client referred me to a great chiropractor who actually did fix my pain in one session with a manual adjustment. The kicker is this horrible place also billed my insurance an additional $125 after doing nothing but talking incessantly. Point is don't go there, there are plenty of other Chiropractors in the neighborhood who actually will heal you. read more

Okay - for me. Great - for some. I know I need a different style now. So, I first have to say that this office is full of wonderful energy and healing and the folks on staff (and the doctors) truly care for their patients well being. There is so much to be said for knowing that this is their primary goal and function. You will be received in a very, very caring manner and the open chiropractic studio is very zen and comfortable. For me, I require a different style of care. The manipulations here are very "non-invasive/aggressive." I hurt my back last October and could not even sit for a five minute drive to go to Walgreens to get my pain meds. I had to lay down in an uber in order to even get to this office. I was BAD. Both of the doctors are very light in their style. I needed someone to crank on me hard and with some electro stimulation. They just do not do that kind of work and I should have asked before coming. That said, Dr. Ann recognized I needed something more and she recommended their acupuncture partner who uses their office on Sundays. She used electro stimulation with the acupuncture and this was a GAME CHANGER. If I could give a "side rating" for this suggestion, I would. But, I want to give an honest review about the nature of their treatment and how it worked for me in particular. There are many kinds of people that their method of treatment is good for and I do not want to suggest that it won't be good for others because it would be. I was ready to accept the fact that, unlike most Humans, perhaps I was evolving backwards and would soon be that hairy, crawling guy in the evolution of Man poster. That was until I started seeing the skilled chiropractors at Chiropractic for Life. These women are AMAZING!! After a single visit I was feeling like I was working my way back up the evolutionary chain. I have to admit I was once a skeptic as I have been to other chiropractors with absolutely no positive results. Reluctantly, I hobbled in to this quaint office located on Clark St. just South of Foster. I was immediately greeted by the friendly receptionist who explained their services and philosophy. Philosophy? Really? I don't smell "incense" burning. Eh, I'll still give it a try. All I gotta say is OMG!! WTF took me so long to get straightened out?? I felt like doing a jig down the street when I left then I remembered that they are chiropractors and not miracle workers. I still can't dance. I have been back a number of times when the pain returns due to my stubborn and not-so-active lifestyle. They are always incredibly friendly and never condescending about my lack of exercise. Sure, they remind me I should do it and I chuckle and remind them that I should stop drinking too... but that's another story. If you want to get back in the saddle then pony up to CFL and get straightened out!! Your back will thank you!! Ah, to be at the top of the evolutionary ladder once again. read more

I am back (HA!) after not going here for several years and the women who run this place are as wonderful as ever! There are two Chiropractors in this office, each with slightly different specialties. They work collaboratively and their patients benefit from the wisdom of both Chiropractors. They both work gently and the office atmosphere is very tranquil. My cousin recommended this place and would probably rate it 10 stars if she could; so I had very high hopes/expectations. I met with Dr. Susan, who is extremely friendly and would give her 5 stars on bedside (or tableside really) manner but as far as feeling relief from my severe back pain, I didn't find much relief, if any. I understand they take a different approach and are very light to the touch, but I think for what I needed, it unfortunately wasn't for me. The drop table was probably the most movement/force they gave to me and the rest felt like a gentle hand on the back. Again, I know they work magic for others but just not for me. read more

I was referred to Chiropractic For life by my physical therapist of 3.5 years. I am so sad and disappointed by my experience. This is my first ever yelp review and I never like to put bad energy out there but, I've been waiting 4 days for Dr. Susan to call me back so, here it goes. I have a herniated disc (c 5/6) and nerve damage it mostly effects my shoulders, neck and arm. I had 2 appointments and after both my lower back was so bad I could hardly walk. I decided this might not be the right treatment for me. My initial visit was $219. I was not aware of that until after the session. Yes, I should have asked. I had given Kristin my insurance information 3 weeks before my appointment. She said she would get back to me with coverage and never did. So, I feel they failed to give me information about the charge and since the treatment was making my lower back act up I was not going to continue on. I asked for some of my money back. Dr. Susan laughed and said, "no". She did offer a free adjustment but, I didn't want to risk more pain. Other disappointments: not easy to get in for adjustments or massages because their regulars have met their deductibles and took up all of the appointments. What's the point of taking in new patients if you can't accommodate them?! I'm sorry that it didn't work out. I was looking forward to getting some relief, supporting a local small business and women in business. My main thing is I feel cheated and I would not have went through with the original appointment if I was informed about the price of my first visit. It's not in my budget at the moment and over $300 later I had to pay to go somewhere else to fix my lower back. read more

I've had back problems on and off since high school. Recently, the pain has moved to my neck. I'd been having neck pain for about 9 months that was progressively getting worse and I was getting desperate; I'd been to two other chiropractors, but after an extremely painful adjustment at one of them, I was wary to try another one. A friend told me about this place and I decided to try it out. I will say that it was the most gentle, pain-free adjustment I've ever had. They take time on your first visit to take down your health history and discuss the issues you're having. It's mostly a lot of small adjustments. I really, really didn't want to have my neck cracked this time even though that's where it hurts the most, but she was fine with that and mostly did adjustments to my lower back. The pain isn't 100% gone, but it's much better than it was a month ago. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a gentle adjustment, or anyone who is afraid of chiropractors. read more

Dr. Ann and Dr. Susan are fabulous. Both are extraordinarily gentle and intuitive. They listen to you. They pay attention to your answers. They give terrific advice. They genuinely care about you! They offer a discount if you have no insurance and if you purchase your appointments in advance. The office is comfortable, relaxing and quiet. The support staff are friendly, helpful, and competent. I tried going to another chiro out of convenience since I live/work kind of far from chiro for life. But, like many of the decisions I make, that was a mistake. So now I'm back. Ann is so great. She doesn't crack my neck or back (this is a good thing, i hate being cracked), but whatever pain I go in with is gone within a day after seeing her. The doctors and massage therapists are very professional and in tune with patients needs. I've seen Dr. Rachael a few times and she was extremely communicative and explained everything with such detail. The initial consultation involved asking what it is I want to work on overall, and she offered several suggestions for nutritionists, personal trainers, gyms, workout regimens and stretches. I've had massaged with both Steve and Anna, whom were both extremely attentive and helpful. After the massages, they showed me several techniques and stretches to loosen different areas up. The front staff is also kind and will work with you on appointments, insurance, etc. Overall - wonderful experience! So glad I moved into the area and found these gals. read more

This is an amazing place to go for a true healing experience. This is not traditional 'rack and crack/aggressive' chiropractic. I see Dr. Susan, and she administers a combination of network spinal analysis and cranial sacral therapy, which is extremely gentle and very profound. Both she and Dr. Ann are extremely compassionate and listen carefully to you. They vary in their approach, so you'll have to see which works best for you The treatment room is communal, quiet and serene. I'm always grateful for the length of the treatment -- you are never rushed in and out. Their prices are reasonable and they accept BC/BS PPO plans. I went to Chiropractic For Life two times (each time - several sessions). Once, few years ago for my lower back problems (bulging discks) and at this time Susan helped me and I felt much better. Recently, I had a terrible sciatica pain in pregnancy, from my butt to my toes. It was absolutely terrible. I did PT for 4.5 months - did not help, ice therapy was relieving temporarily . However I believe that Ann really made me feel better! I was so hopeless and thought I would never get better until the baby is born, but I am 8 months now and am pain free since half October! I also believe that you need to go few times, maybe 2 times per week for 3 - 4 weeks to see the improvement. read more

I remember years ago when I took a bad fall and was told by a friend to make an appointment at Chiropractic For Life to help my back. It was stiff and sore and I knew that something needed to be done. After a few sessions, I was good as new. And like many other people, I put my health on the back burner and arrogantly went about my life. Nothing can stop me, I'm fine. Well ... now two years later, I haven't been able to move for the last 9 days. I have no clue what I did, but my back muscles and tailbone have been physically trying to take me down. I couldn't dress myself. I couldn't drive. The pain was getting worse instead of better, and nothing I was doing to try to help myself was achieving results. I made an appointment this morning and hobbled in to see Dr. Susan this afternoon. Just as I remember, she is friendly and inviting and knowledgeable. I have never been seen by Dr. Ann, but from what I've heard, she is wonderful, as well. I believe it. After an evaluation, Susan knew what was wrong. She adjusted me, and gave me instructions on what I can do for myself at home to ease the pain. I can walk again. I can take a shower. I'm still sore, and it still hurts, but I am already at least 50% better than when I called, nearly in tears, this morning begging for an open appointment. After so many days of not being able to function, it is incredible that tonight I am not involuntarily screaming with each movement. This place never fails. I have been seeing Dr. Susan for three years. I started going to help with chronic migraines and got even more than relief for that. My headaches are under control, my posture is better, and I have less pain and tension in my neck. I am a hairstylist, so I need to go at least monthly for upkeep because of the repetitive motions that I perform. Two years ago, I had a bulging disc in my neck, and was in so much pain I could barely move. Dr. Susan took me on extremely late notice and was so caring and gentle to me I'm my frightened and pained state. Both Dr. Susan and Dr. Ann are gentle, intuitive, and caring.
