Here from California and I yelped this location. I am a pescatarian so I figured this place would be great to try. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot and when we entered it wasn't crowded. Inside there is a large cool chalkboard with their menu. We placed our order with Louise and waited patiently. Our food arrived shortly. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend them. I have had the ribs here and they are tasty when you get plenty of them The portions are quite large. Ladies in the kitchen are really throwing down. They know what they're doing and the prices are great. Today I decided to try the catfish in the shrimp. Catfish pieces are large and super clean. I was so pleased I hate when you bite into a piece of fish and see that gray stuff. Macaroni and cheese was really creamy the noodles were a little too soft for me but the flavor was great. The shrimp was amazing. It's some kind of thick beer batter. They are jumbo so they are quite large probably only need two or three of them. I think I got nine pieces for $17 or something. I'm glad this place is close to my house less than 1 mi. I used to go to chicken and fish affair on Fenton Road until the fire and their closure. I will definitely be back here several times. Excellent. Will be back for Some delicious Soul Food and will recommend it here in Saginaw to anyone. Worth the trip to Flint Mi especially when there is no decent food here. Back in Flint-Burton for a week and right now I am so damn thrilled! This 2 mile ride brought me so much joy! Well to be specific I decided soul food and fish were to be the meal of the day, and baby when I tell you Chips seafood combo, with 2 pcs of catfish, 2 pcs perch, 2 pcs whiting, 2 pc of plump shrimp along 2 sides ( Mac n chz & greens) was on point you better believe me! The flavor and breading used for the sea food was perfect, and the fry on all was delish crisp, light and filling the greens were like grandma used to make oh yes! Like the consistency of their food. Have ordered the fish (perch and whiting) well seasoned. Everyone is friendly and honest on the wait time. Like that they have order correct and no mishaps. The sides have been good also (collard greens, spaghetti salad, mac and cheese) no disappointments. There are a few points I would like to discuss: 1. Food 2. Service 3. Atmosphere Food: The food was freaking amazing! Let me first say I'm pregnant and couldn't decide what I wanted to I ordered a few things to taste. I ordered their wing dings, rib tips, collard greens, fries and lemon cake. LOL....like I said before I couldn't decide what I really wanted. I tasted everything and it was all amazing....I really do mean it was amazing. The wing dings were the small ones (not hormoned pumped up, which I like), they were nice and crispy and delicious. The rib tips were slathered in sauce which I usually do not like but these were flavorful and great. The greens tasted home made and were perfectly cooked. The fries were just fries...no biggie. The lemon cake was a 3.5 out of 5....my mom's is much better. Service: Great service and very attentive. My order took about 15 minutes and as soon as they called "order up" in the back, the person in the front got it right out to me. Atmosphere: A little hood for my taste. LOL. Ok, I have to give you warning. When we went in there it was lunch so maybe it was just a one time crowd. The owner (manager or owner I believe) had family come in during this time and I felt like I was in a Madeas family reunion movie. They were loud, obnoxious and all in the way of the paying customers while walking through the back to say hi to every family member who worked there. Hard to reach via phone. Chitterlings were bland. Large shrimp dinner was flavorful. Greens had too much vinegar and cake was ok nothing to write home about. Pleasant attitude, prices ok. Decent place but I've had much better no doubt. read more

I really was excited to try this place. First time I went here, the fryer was down and only 20% of the menu was available. I put in my carry out order, paid, and waited patiently for my food. When he brought it out and handed it to me 20 mins later he immediately grabbed his tip cup and began complaining that "he ain't getting no love today". I'm sorry, but if you have to beg your carry out people for a tip, your doing something wrong. Food was mediocre. The gal that took my order was very nice and friendly. I ordered quite a few times from Chips on Bristol rd in Flint. I always ordered a Shrimp Dinner, with fries and coleslaw. The shrimp were nice, big and very good, not over fried. coleslaw was fresh, but it had no taste. It taste like it was just plain shredded cabbage and carrots, nothing added to it. Coleslaw need some improvements. Fries could of cooked a bit longer. They weren't soft and fluffy inside. I also wish they would sell hush puppies, they would of been good with the meal. Overall I gave it a 4 stars. Would of gave 5 stars if not for the tasteless coleslaw. My Sister ordered Shrimp Dinner, her sides were yams and greens with cornbread. This was catered food, sampling were rib tips, greens, Mac n cheese, cornbread, and sandwich bread. It was a tasty lunch. I really enjoyed the greens - probably the stand out for me. I had never heard of this place before, but I sure want to try some of their other items. Rib tips were chopped and in a tasty bbq sauce (not too sweet and a nice peppery flavor) some pieces tender, some tough. I enjoyed the mac n cheese as it seemed spot on, also with a nice addition of black pepper. All in all i would say one may find wonderful, salty fulfillment here. I shall try more another day...now to go for a run :) read more
