Originally, my 50th birthday party was planned for food trucks, lobster bakes and loads fo people in common spaces. COVID-19 changed all that. So we got creative and introspective. I asked myself and research well how I could celebrate, be safe, and not sacrifice a whole lot. So, we came up with the idea of renting an AirBnB and hiring a private chef. We chose Knotty Pine. From the word "Go," Lyndall was highly reposnisve and overall interested in our project - a dinner for four. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, in my usualy manner to get into the details, I informed Lyonel what we were looking for - a pescetarian meal where I liked all the foods. We workshopped menu items, and I provided feedback on what I liked and what I didn't. The changes came thorugh quickly and easily. Chefs Lyndall and Lily - who came with her own camera - so pictures! - handled the whole experience. They even got fussy with me for trying to wash wine glasses. "No! I'll do that!" they insisted. My celebration and joy was what they cared about. When you turn 50, you realize not too many people care about that, so I welcomed the opportunity to relax. Then there was the food - an expertly crafted and perfectly executed meun or bruchetta, vegetarian sushi, brussells sprouts salad (no bacon for me), pans sauteeed red fish and desset. He made some suggestions, and we are really not big desert people, but we do like pie, so Lydall made that happen. Birthday pies: Key lime and chocolate peanut butter. Amazing all around. Not a thing or flavor out of place. Lyndall and Lily handeled everything. And what nice people. When I agreed on the menu and pricing, I thought, "Well, if we went to a fancy restatuant and got dinner for 4, we would pay this much," so no brainer. Not only was this a perfect experience, but we are looking and future weekends to rent this house and hire Knotty Pine again. Total 5 start experience. Can't wait to see the picrtures.

On November 28, 2022the Knotty Pine Catering was contacted to cater our Christmas Dinner, 12/25/2022. They quickly agreed and we started the process of planning the dishes. We preferred a buffet and Chef Lyndall Locke (AKA Chef Lynni) was fine with our vision. Although the communication was spare and sometimes confusing, we liked the idea of giving a young chef his chance. We agreed on the dishes and payment was made in full before 12/25/2022. It was agreed Chef Lyndall Locke would arrive at 3 PM on Christmas day and have everything in place before my guests arrive at 4 PM. I received at email from Chef Lyndall Locke at 2:38 PM on the day of the party letting me know that he was "a little bit behind and would arrive at 4:30 - 5:00 PM". He finally arrived at 5:30 PM - or 2.5 hours late - so stressed I had to ask him to relax and to just focus on the buffet. The dishes served were not to the expectation one can have considering we paid a little over $100 per guests (we had 9 guests and he charged us for 10). He described and promised a "Cheese & Charcuterie Display composed of European Cheese And Charcuterie Cheese: Gorgonzola Piccante, Drunken Goat, Taleggio, Herb Chevre Meats: Salami Napolitano, Spicy Capicola, Soppressata, Prosciutto Wrapped Melon Extras: Olives, Cornichon, Whole Grain Mustard, Fig Preserves, Fresh Grapes, & Assorted Nuts, Crackers, Dried Fruits! We ended up having 2 paper plates with some salami and a bit of spread cheese" for $144!!! I also had to provide him with a cutting board and a knife to slice the meet. So unfortunately, we can only alert other clients to not use his services. It was a disaster from start to finish. No gesture was made, no discount no nothing. He simply disappeared after we try to have an explanation. He knew we were waiting to hear from him before making reviews online. He chose to ignore us and run with the money. Please be aware!
