Tacos Chales #1 is about the only place selling Cemitas in Houston. They were very good but I wish they also had a chicken milanesa option.

This is the first place I've found in Houston so far that has cemitas. If you've never had a cemita you are missing out big time! A cemita is a massive piece of bread with sesame seeds on it, your meat of choice, queso oaxaca, papalo (an herb from Mexico), avocado, onion, and either chipotle or roasted jalapeño. For a cemita it was $10.00 which is a great price considering the size. I'm so happy I finally found a place I can get these in Houston! Will definitely be back soon. read more

I was in the area working and I get 30 minutes for lunch. I thought I'd try their tacos. Got two beef tacos with the avocado not so great. I think it might've been ground beef. I thought they were going to use fajita meat, but they didn't. The taste was not so good. I can make better tacos at home using real fajita meat. I really think this place has got better at servings and making tacos they have had some great tacos the last time I've been and the guy is nice and helpful. Plus, ten dollars for like five tacos is a deal! I know their competition is Tierra Caliente tacos but come try this place out it's pretty good and the red sauce is bomb! I had the pastor and beef fajita tacos with a seared jalapeno on the side which is free and it's great to add for an extra pop to the tacos. Then finally add a squeeze of the lime yummy! Overall a nice taco truck and great staff! Go support them people! read more

A solid 4-star taco truck. Authentic, tasty food. Not the absolute best I have had, but it does the job when you are craving authentic tacos. Personal favorite is the Cerdo - Tacos al Pastor. Comes in a double corn-tortilla (4 inches or so across) with fresh onion and cilantro on top, and a lime wedge with salsa on the side. Prices are moderate - about what you would expect inside the loop for a taco truck. Also another plus is that it's located in the parking lot of the best privately run beer store in the city! Do yourself a favor and run in there real quick for a 6-pack to go! Would recommend if you're craving some tacos! read more

Amazing, authentic Mexican food! I have eaten there a few times and it's probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. I had gorditas, tacos, Tortas (my favorite!) and they have specials sometimes like shrimp cocktail and pozole. They have homemade salsas and sauces. I loveeee this truck and go whenever I'm in the area. The service is awesome and fast and the prices are low. They speak English and Spanish. There's a big screen tv to watch while you wait. Have always loved this taco truck and the employees. Have given them a TON of business but tonight I walked to get a melon aqua Fresca. Walked home and had a few sips, one of the melons they used was wasaaaay over ripe. Completely undrinkable. I walked back and told the guy working that it was "off" he was SO rude to me. As I was handing it to him and in the middle of apologizing profusely and saying it's not his fault he shipped me away and scoffed. Unbelievably rude to me. He's always been a little gruff but treating me like that is not cool. I've never complained, I never wrote reviews, I'm not one to send food back and complain but this was disgusting. Just makes you feel like shit when your local place tread you like that when you've given them so much business. Sorry for the rambling, not good at this. Good quesadillas, but out of my 2 trips there, strange burnouts showed up asking for people to read the menu for them or to call a taxi... the cockroaches by the trash for the store they're parked by didn't help either. Granted they were outside, but still not what I want to see. Good food, just the location is leading to questionable people showing up... I don't know why. Such great tacos. I'm new to Houston, so who knows, maybe there really are better taco trucks in the area. Still, this is some of the best taco truck fare I've come across in Texas. Period. We were headed into the D&Q when we saw the place, and I thought some gorditas might be the best thing to satisfy the post-drinks munchies. Their menu is limited, true, but what they do have they do very well, plus I was happy to see tripitas on the menu. And their cemitas! A friend got the cemita de milanesa and the poor dear had to wait patiently while we all took pictures of it---and then asked for bites. It was quite good. You can take your food to go or you can stand at the counter eating, which is what we did. The nice gentleman in the truck gave us two bottles of salsa, a fresh green tomatillo salsa and and a much spicier red salsa. Both very good, but do test the red salsa before you douse your gordita with the stuff. I didn't mind it at all, but it was much spicier than I anticipated, and it's best to know what you're signing up for. read more
