They were doing this to let customers know they are buying top grade ingredients instead of cheating out due to COVID. They are going to eat the costs. Found out FH location is their biggest grossing store now and not their original location where they started in Astoria as well as their Manhattan locations. Forest Hills is the winner! This was my first time trying Chip City after reading all the great reviews. My expectations were high, and I didn't find any of the 3 cookies I chose to be amazing. I started with the Gingy Sweet Crunch cookie, and that cookie was overly sweet! I have a major sweet tooth, and it was even too sweet for me! The chocolate chip I found to be ok/good. It was too thick and the chocolate chips were too small for that thick cookie. The chocolate chips weren't ooey gooey either. The dark chocolate peanut butter was awful! The dark chocolate cookie base tasted nothing like dark chocolate! The peanut butter chips were too small to get any peanut butter flavor out of them since the cookie was so thick. Saw a long line of folks lined up outside when I was parking and upon returning to my car, fear of missing out absolutely made me join the line. Well that and the fact that I'm dating the Cookie Monster and being that it was the say before Father's Day, it was the prefect way to be sweet on him. I fully intended on just purchase it two because they are huge and pretty dense but given then the worker at the counter sold me on getting a box. You pay for 5 and get 1 free and that cost agouti $22. As such I went all the way in. I got Bae the ultimate chocolate chips (2), got his son who has a ton of allergies the egg free/ vegan version of the same. Additionally I bought the blueberry, cookies and cream and cheesecake all for the greater purpose of sampling them. These are not your made from pre made dough type cookies . As I share previously, they're pretty dense in weight and texture. You can slice them without them crumbling. I ended up cutting two into slices of what ended up shaping like biscottis. Again, they never crumbed. The chocolate chip had a lot of chips and packed milk chocolate flavor. The blueberry was lighter with plenty blueberries and seemingly had a lower sugar content. The cheesecake was intense. Not for me. Overall, this is a great addition to the neighborhood. The service was good. Because it's so small holding only about 3 customers inside at a time- the ambiance is quiet and fast paced . One sassy elder was overheard saying it's great but it's not Levain. We were hanging out up in Mt Kisco when my friend suggested this place for its cookies. I was just thinking to myself "damn, that's like an hours drive from here to Queens!", when she said "we went two weeks ago and there's this cinnamon bun cookie that's a limited edition!". That limited-edition tagged foods and goods always gets to me so I agreed. This place is a hole in the wall in middle of a very happening place in Astoria Queens. It's located next to a parking lot which counts for a lot of any persons hesitation to go here with a car. Very unassuming outside but had the cutest character mascots and really nice people behind the counter. They offered a few types of cookies, ranging from that limited cinnamon bun, toffee, brookie (brownie cookie), blueberry, cookies and cream, ginger and white chocolate, and chocolate chip. I'll be the first to admit I don't have a big sweet tooth but this place was worth the trek. THEY WERE ALL WARM AND TASTY AF. I got a half dozen, which ran about 27$ (with tax). The cookies are unassailable. Absolutely delicious. What was bad about my experience was how I was misled about product availability. I went in to buy mixed boxes of cookies as gifts for other people and I really had no agenda about which flavors of cookies to buy - EXCEPT that ONE box have fewer cookies with chocolate. The cashier encouraged me, with that particular box, to get the olive oil cookies. I thought, "Sure, great!" So we made the order and they put together the boxes. But then they said the olive oil cookies needed to cool and they told me it would be ten minutes. I thought it was no big deal and said I'd be back after running across the street to buy a bottle of wine. Well, in the end it took FORTY-FIVE minutes to finally get the olive oil cookies. Again, all the cookies were delicious - no problem there. But I wasn't invested in the olive oil cookies - at all - and really didn't have the time to wait that long. I would have been just as happy with other cookies so I could have gotten out of there quickly. It's so nice to see how well Chip City Cookies are doing. Today was their grand opening for the Forest Hills location (their 10th store?) and they have plans for 4 more stores opening this year. The lines for their grand opening was insane! There must have been about 70 people waiting to get inside. I love how the smell of freshly baked cookies hits you as soon as you open the doors. It smelled so good inside and it made me want to buy everything! If you've ever tried any of their cookies, you probably aren't surprised that they are so well received. Like most of their locations they have about 4 different cookies offered each day, and they rotate from about 40 different kinds. The chocolate chip (my fav) is always one of the cookies offered, so I got a couple of those. I love how the cookies are still warm when you get them. The outside texture is crisp, and the inside is gooey from both the chocolates and the dough. The cookies aren't cheap at about $4 each but thankfully they are massive in size. Great addition to the neighborhood. They already have a presence in Forest Hills as their food truck is a regular on weekends and the cookies usually sell out fast. Now with the brick and mortar its the same quality but all week. Wonderful service and you can smell the fresh hot baked cookies on the whole block.
