I am a huge thrifter, always on the hunt for eclectic trinkets, treasures, and clothing. I am always greeted warmly by the volunteers, and strike up genuine conversations each trip. The shelves are abundant but still well-organized, offering everything from home decor to utilities to crafting supplies. Prices are fair and affordable, which is so refreshing amidst the overcharging of big corporations. I appreciate this especially as a college student on a budget. And every purchase I make goes toward the most precious animals! I visit them frequently, too. :) I'm so excited for the opportunities that their relocation and expansion will bring; I can't wait to swing by the animal corner at the front once it's been developed!

We have a few choices for thrift stores in Corvallis. That's awesome. Do you want to know what…read moreelse is awesome? Heartland Humane Society's thrift shop! Yeah! There's an eclectic mix of stuff. Prices can be just OK or totally super value. I always have to make sure I have a wad of cash if I go in because it's a rare day that I leave empty handed. Fun dishes, kitchen implements, groovy clothes, hats, random bits of hardware, and who even knows WHAT you'll find. Sometimes I just have to leave things I want because I already have enough stuff. But wow. Just wow. Then there's the staff. Is it OK to call them staff? They are volunteers. They do their work because they love the Humane Society. You know what? That's awesome too! Their revenue goes to the local Humane Society and provides over a quarter of the Humane Society's annual budget. That's huge. The staff is also friendly and helpful. I better get on down there; it's been a couple days!

I am a huge fan of Habitat for Humanity. Growing up poor in the country we relied on places like…read morethis for parts. Beyond that it's also a great place to give back to the community Weather by being a volunteer in one of their shops or out on the field building homes like my neibours do. If you buy from these people you're getting back to the world. As an owner of an old home I have learned all of the Habitat for Humanity secrets on how to buy around here. Albany really isn't all that affordable when compared to all of the other habitats I've been to hear and in Austin Texas. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't show up here at the Albany store. You can always find a gem at any of these stores. But I'll give you some helpful hints the store in Corvallis it's a place you should go for outdoor supplies. They don't have a shabbie list of shelving either. The Habitat for Humanity in Salem is known for having the best quality Electronics. Name brand machines like whirlpool and Maytag for a mere $30 you could walk out with a dishwasher a Whirlpool dishwasher and I have. I still have it 2 years later. Not bad. One of my first washing machines and dryers came from a Habitat for Humanity. I paid $10 for the washer and $10 for the dryer and they lasted me 10 years. I know what I'm talking about. The only one I'm not crazy about is the one in Lebanon but I think it's because it's so small. I think it would be a great place to go shop for knick knacks or cute antiques. Habitat doesn't just sell housing supplies they sell household as well. They also have customs sales every day of the week. 50% off for veterans 25% off lighting you just got to catch the right day and you're saving mad cash! So what are you waiting for go buy from these people! Shuuuu! What are you waiting for? An invitation from a volunteer? Well I'm a volunteer and I invite you to see the awesomeness. Good people doing good things

The prices are too high. You can tell this is the case by how much stuff they have. They get it for…read morefree and should price it at less than 50% of the new price. Much of the stuff is so old and had less than half its life left. Plus you have to hunt for what you are looking for (unlike at a regular retail store). Time is money and it takes longer to find useful items here. The head cashier (manager?) and the guy in the back (with an eastern European accent) is always so grumpy. Everyone else I've interacted with have been nice though. Wish I had better experiences coming in here because I like to support local and repurpose things and keep them from going to the landfill.
