Cali Burrito add shrimp Agua de Naranja

Fantastic new spot in ILM. My new go to favorite. Hard to beat a Cali Burrito and the Agua de Naranja. ACP and Birra Bao Buns are money as well.

Very diverse options on the menu from birra ramen to tacos. You order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Service was friendly and food came out really fast. I had corn and the quesabirra (called something else on the menu). Corn was okay but quesabirra tacos were great. My boys loved their chorizo rice bowls (both with extra cheese). Complimentary chips and salsa were tasty too. There's also an extensive topping bar with onions, radish, cilantro, various salsas, and more. They have fountain drinks, margaritas, and various bottled sodas. The atmosphere is casual.

I stopped in today to order two grilled white fish tacos. They were not bad. I am just not a fan of their chips and salsa at all. But, these tacos were average and better than my last meal.

When you first come in there's bright lights, music and fun wall graphics. It has a cool vibe. You ordered at the counter and they bring out your food. The staff member was friendly and I asked what their signature dish was which was the Taquitos chignons. We also got the chicken fajitas to share. I had trouble reading the menu because it was up high and bright. I should have read the menu online. The food didn't take long to come out. The chignons were tasty-Cheesy, tender and juicy. I wish they came with rice to use up the consome and for the price. The fajitas were pretty standard but filling and easy to share. The salsa bar had a wide selection. I'd like to come back to try a few other menu items.

For breakfast, tried the meat lover omelette, egg and cheese, croissant sandwich, and two empanadas (beef and choripan). I liked how all of the dishes were garnished with fresh spinach leaves and an orange wedge, making them look colorful and appealing. My partner enjoyed his omelette, which included chorizo and julienned ham slices. Omelette was presented differently than the typical omelette, with it cooked/shaped as a bowl and stuffed in the middle with fillings. They don't make croissants in the house, but they bake them so it's nice and crispy. It was very filling. Next time I'll add ham to it to give it a salty taste. Empanadas were delicious. Served with a chimichurri sauce. Beef empanada was a little bit on the sweeter side. Their espresso machine was broken so they only had black coffee. Black coffee was alright, nothing special, but, it was nice to drink hot coffee out of a mug, making me feel like I was at home. They have coffee cards, which you hole punch yourself. You get a free coffee after getting 10 hole punches. If you care, your clothes might have a little bit of a cooking smell after being in the café for a while.

It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.

When I got there no one was at the counter and I had to wait a bit to get my food. But it was ready when someone came to help me. I picked the Pad Thai, Japanese Pan Noodles and Pasta Fresca which I substituted broccoli for spinach. No proteins which helped with the cost. Everything was prepared correctly and tasted good but a little dry. I usually like a little more sauce. Despite seeing a lot of negative reviews beforehand, my experience was good for takeout.

You can customize the orders easily and add extra protein to the mac & cheese. At the restaurant, there are two separate door entrances (close to each other), one for ordering and the other one for pickup. It was nice they had a pick up station with my food, packed in a brown bag, ready to go. (I was about six minutes late for my pick up time). The food was steaming hot in the to-go containers. The macaroni and cheese was very good, cheesy, addicting. It's worth it to get a regular size. The Japanese noodles were okay. The steak was tender, udon noodles were chewy and not overcooked, and broccoli was al dente. They have their own spicy seasoning made with Cayenne pepper bottled in a plastic container. Didn't see any to go containers to put that in, but they do have to go Sriracha packets as well as soy sauce.
