"Delicious dive on Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach"…read more Came here for lunch on a Sunday at right around noon. The place is dark and kind-of makes you feel like you're in the bowels of a wooden ship. There's a large bar in the center, and a few tables around it, as well as a few tables outside in the back. We were seated right away. I ordered the hot honey shrimp wrap as well as the pickled veggies appetizer. My dining partner got the quinoa grain and greens bowl with blackened tuna. Our food came out in around 10 minutes. The hot honey shrimp wrap came with french fries, to my surprise (didn't see that mentioned on the menu), which were fine. The wrap itself was DELICIOUS. MAN, that hot honey was SO tasty, and the greens and corn batter on the shrimp really complemented it well. It is a very, very messy dish to eat with your hands, so be prepared, but it's well worth the sacrifice. The pickled veggies were local and very tasty-- also a very good value for $5. My dining partner really liked her bowl and the tuna in it as well. The staff were quite attentive, regularly checking in, filling drinks, and clearing dirty plates. Only caution is that a lot of the batters are corn-based, so be careful if you have that allergy. Overall, would very happily come back-- great in all respects. I recommend highly!

I'm not a fan. We went here because it was vey close to our parking spot…read more Pros - Large drink menu - Lots of items on the food menu - Inside and outside seating Cons - Food is just okay - Service was terrible (more below) - Drinks were okay Food - Tried the cheese dip, camarones Ala diablo and taco salad. Cheese dip was good. Taco salad wasn't great (steak meat was chewy). Camarones Ala diablo was a solid 3 stars, but it was hot as hell. I love spicy food, but it is hard to enjoy when your eyes are tearing up and snot is coming out of your nose. Drinks were okay. The bartender put too much spice around the rim. The condensation was causing it to drip down the glass, making a hell of a mess. Service was terrible. Were were the first people there for lunch. One table that came in 10 minutes after us, changed twice while we were there. The waitress was MIA multiple times. There is another Mexican restaurant in Carolina Beach that is just a few blocks away, which is much better. I doubt I'll be back.

Salsa wasn't spicy, which is how I prefer it. There was an awkward wait being seated, as I was greeted by the bartender, then she disappeared, then greeted me again and finally told me I could sit anywhere I like. I grabbed a menu and had a seat and a different employee came to get my order. She was very nice and attentive. The inside was bright and lively with music playing. They also have outdoor seating available, but it was pretty windy outside with a storm coming in, so it was empty. The only downside to this restaurant is that there is only about 3 spots for cars to park near the entrance, as their parking lot to the left is completely blocked off with concrete barriers and the parking lot to the right is solely for the restaurant to the right of this one. I ended up having to park across the street in the pay-per-hour parking. That's a bummer.

If you're planning a visit, go around sunset. Watching the sun go down over the water with a great drink in hand makes for an unforgettable experience. Whether you're looking for a date night spot, a place to catch up with friends, or just a relaxing meal with a view, this place delivers. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

I was so happy to have such a good restaurant at Blakslee Air Force Recreation Center. When I recently read several negative reviews, I was honestly surprised because that hadn't been my experience. Last month, however, my family and I ate here and ordered two seafood platters and a shrimp dinner. Unfortunately, the food was nothing like it had been the previous year. Everything was over-fried, and for the price we paid, it was very disappointing. I chose not to leave a review because the restaurant was extremely busy, the staff seemed overwhelmed, and I assumed they were simply having an off night. I stay here for one week every month during the spring and summer. This trip, my family wasn't with me, and I was looking forward to enjoying dinner here again. I ordered the shrimp dinner, which came with only 10 small shrimp, French fries that had clearly been refried, and a cucumber salad that had no flavor. I don't normally order fries, but I remembered how fresh they used to be, so I made an exception. Sadly, they were not fresh and tasted like they had been cooked twice. It disappoints me to write this because I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant in the past and wanted to see it succeed. Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly compared to last year. Based on my recent experiences, I won't be dining here again for the rest of the season. I truly hope they can return to the quality they once had.
