I don't even know how to start reviewing this place. Every time I think about my experience, I can't help but to chuckle at being bamboozled into coming here because from the good reviews and the fact that my friend said it was good. After all, this place is like the 7th best Chinese restaurant in the U.S. Or maybe it was Chicago? Or maybe just around the area, I have no idea. The reviews clouded my judgement and even though I rarely eat at Chinese takeout places, I decided to trust my friend (soon to be ex friend after this place) and took the plunge. I want to make it known that although I rarely eat at take out Chinese restaurants like this one, I still eat it on occasion and do not compare it to what you would expect to find in Chinatown. I'm all for sesame, orange, and General Tso's chicken or any military-ranking chicken for that matter and judge these places separately. As long as the food is made well with good ingredients, I could care less if it's "authentic" or not. I ordered the broccoli and beef with fried rice and a small hot and sour soup. I opened up my container and find my broccoli and beef just swimming in sauce. The broccoli was both drowning yet floating around my beef. The problem with this is that there's already so much sodium in the sauce which is made primarily from soy sauce that anything more than a gentle coating of the sauce on the broccoli and beef completely destroys the taste with salt. And there was probably a half cup of the sauce at the bottom of my container after I safely scooped up the meat and broccoli onto the lid of the container. Because it was so salty, the fried rice had absolutely no taste afterwards. You might as well give me steam rice because that's what it tasted like in comparison. The only redeeming factor was the egg roll which was a big, crunchy distraction from the soft, mushy broccoli. The hot and sour soup now. Let me tell you about this soup. It was just pure vinegar to the point where I couldn't drink any more. I just started scooping out the meat and veggies inside and eating it with my egg roll. Between the salt and the vinegar assaulting me, I couldn't even finish my meal and my stomach hurt for the entire day afterwards. But this was just my own experience. Because all the meanwhile I'm looking at my friend just happily devouring his kung pao shrimp with a goofy grin and voluntarily pouring EXTRA soy sauce packets on his rice and entree. I don't get this. It's like me pouring ketchup on spaghetti sauce but I'll forgive him because he's my buddy. This place must have been ranked #7 in a 2 mile radius because it was far from great. read more

Well, it's been a while since I've ventured here but I'm glad I came back. They've finished all of the renovations and the place looks great. Easily 900x better than it was previously, cosmetically anyway. The food hasn't changed it's still pretty good. Today we ordered the special chef combination which is a noodles dish that comes with chicken, beef, and shrimp, with mixed vegetables. Very filling. We also ordered the sesame chicken which is an unsung hero here at Chinese Kitchen, being one of my favorites to order. All sides by a large order of shrimp fried rice that has never disappointed. Taste is still very solid while the looks have gotten a tad bit better. Not too shabby. read more

I was SHOCKED at how fast the delivery way! I mean, it couldn't have even been 15 minutes after placing the order. I got Mongolian beef (no onions), an egg roll, chicken fried rice, and a strawberry peach smoothie. The beef was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I was expecting the sauce to be spicier but it was very sweet which was a little disappointing. Because I asked for no onion I was given a LOT of mushrooms and I was VERY happy about that. The egg roll has shrimp in it which was not listed on their menu so if you have an allergy, beware. The fried rice was very bland and had nothing other than chicken and rice, no veggies or any flavoring. Boring! The smoothie was delicious. Once I came in and ordered a orange chicken with the fried rice. When I got home the fried rice was dry and not edible. The best Chinese place I have ever been too. The chef's noodles are super good, and of course NO one even comes close to their orange chicken. They expanded and remodeled recently so now it's a nice place to sit down. Came here once for lunch and the lady was letting all the customers try their soup of the day. Just walked into this dine in restaurant at 8:45 pm. They are a fast food Chinese restaurant that closes at 9:30. They have about 10 or 15 booths or tables. We ordered our food right away at the counter and they told us we could not eat in the restaurant because they cleaned the tables and we had to be out in 45 minutes. I don't care how good your food is, or if you're the best chinese restaurant... when your employees are rude & do not know how to treat their customers that makes your business look bad. About a few months ago, an older man asked the young man at the restaurant if he got the right change.. the man replied "uh do you want me to look at the cameras". The man was at least 80 years old and asked a simple question. Then, a few weeks ago I called and placed an order for a deliver and the lady was just rude. She tried to rush off the phone with me. However, last night was the final straw. I will never come back to this restaurant. I tried to place a pick up over the phone & the same young man told me that I repeated I wanted friend rice 3 times. He said "you said the same thing 3 times" When at the end of my order I simply asked him if I ordered a large not a small. I don't care who you think you are, or how good you're food is you don't talk to customers like that. I would rather drive far & go to New Star to get some food because I know they appreciate my business. They are always welcoming and respectful. The food here was pretty good and this place does offer more than your average chinese restaurant because they have salt/pepper food (fish, pork chops, shrimp, etc) and other items. There's tables to sit down, but you're supposed to order from the front counter then they bring the food to you. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp, salt/pepper fish, and the tomato pepper chicken (it wasn't on the menu, but they were able to make it since there was already a tomato pepper beef dish). The salt/pepper batter was great and had a nice spice kick and the fish was soft. The honey walnut shrimp was coated nicely and was tasty as well. The sauce for the tomato pepper chicken went well with steamed rice and the chicken was moist. I recommend coming here because it's definitely better than your average chinese restaurant. read more

Picked up a pizza for hubby, but didn't want any myself. So a few doors down I noticed a take out Chinese restaurant. I went in and there was a bad smell and smoke. I should have just turned around then. As for looks, it looks disheveled. Bottle and cases of soda all around. It just seemed dirty and old, like it had been there forever without any changes or updates. So, I go and order some egg rolls and an order of crab rangoon. Figure they can't mess those up. It was the worst crab rangoon I had ever had. I've had some tasteless before, but this was horrid. I gave it all to the dog. The taste reminded me of the smell of the smoke when I walked in. The egg rolls were barely tolerable, so I did eat them. I hope I won't regret it later. They too had that same weird taste to them. I really should have just left when I thought about it. Even Little Ceaser's would have been better. Well now maybe this will help people avoid it. If you still want to try it, note that they do have a few tables, but it is mostly take out and delivery.
