Placed an order online and it said to pickup at 5:30pm. Well I waited another 20 minutes past that and they finally asked me if I needed anything. I told them I placed an order online and they said "couple more minutes". Pretty sure the older lady at the register gave my order away as she just started giving people bags of food without checking the numbers or names on the orders...she tried to give me someone else's order and had I not checked the slip I would've taken their food instead of mine. Good place overall. I've been here a handful of times, and have had pretty good experiences in general. It's more authentic than some other places if you really know what you're ordering. (Despite loving asian food and eating it more than most people I know, I'm fortunate enough to have true cantonese speaking experts with me when I go here). In my trips here, I've learned a few key things- 1 - There are some things that have to be ordered waaaaay in advance. And apparently off menu things as well, but I'm too out of my element to take advantage of that without the aforementioned help.. 2 - Although this place makes pretty good General Tso's, FOTB Chinese people don't really order it....American fabrication of sorts. 3 - They make and serve certain dishes in a more authentic style than many of the takeout places I grew up going to, which some people may find odd. Example - more "bone-in" dishes. 4 - The snow pea tips/ shoots are gooood. So is the fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and several other things.. 5 - Bringing a handful of people here and eating family style is a way better idea than everyone getting their own meal. 6 - The staff is generally great. Bit of a language barrier, but also typical and managable. 7 - Bathrooms are meh. Not good, not bad, but ok. 8 - Parking is limited at times, but Taco Bell next door has a crazy big lot, so we have parked there before. 9 - It's a good place for sitting down to a long meal if you want to (they have never rushed us) 10 - The drinks here are strong, but I'd rather get one elsewhere afterwards. 11 - I always like the hot sauce on the side...so I can mix it up if I get sick of one of the dishes. Went in on a Friday night and I was one of two customers. Staff greeted me and was very nice, got to sit wherever I wanted. I got the coco punch drink twice which was delicious and strong for about $6 I believe. I ordered the combination plate with rice, boneless spareribs, and chicken. Which was AMAZING they have the crispy chicken that I LOVE and it all tasted so good. I was so full and didn't want to stop eating. I didn't feel rushed, and my order came to about $25. Our favorite spot for take-out on the Groton side of the river. We've tried four or five different places and this has become our consistent winner. The food is good, the service is prompt and professional, and the portions are ENORMOUS (we get the combination plates and use the leftovers for lunch and/or dinner the next day). Many Chinese restaurants give me the hibbie jibbies. I don't know what it is with Chinese restaurants and uncleanliness. Fortunately Chinese Kitchen is different in that it actually looks clean and organized. The interior looks like a place I could sit for an extended amount of time and not get grossed out. My take-out food was good, however my szechuan chicken had no flavor whatsoever. What it lacked in flavor, it made up in quantity. I swear to God, the portion size I received was absolutely the LARGEST portion I have ever relieved from a Chinese restaurant in my entire life! Forget about feeding two people. It could have feed three people, maybe even four people. I don't know if the chef was blind or he just wanted to empty his entire refrigerator. My wife and I were looking for a place to stop for lunch while shopping in Groton. Rather than fast food we stopped here. Chinese Kitchen has a low key pleasant atmosphere that's not commercial. We ordered from the lunch menu, which was very reasonable. We couldn't believe how much food they gave us, enough for us to bring home for dinner. The food is very good, as was the service. Best place around for authentic Chinese. Great food, great price. If you want something different Joe has great suggestions. Wei is the nicest person around. Top notch place. Don't settle for Americanized Chinese. Go the authentic route, you won't be disappointed. But if you prefer to stick with the usual Chinese food theres is the best. read more

We love Chinese kitchen. No it's not the best option in the world but they are the best ( in our opinion) in the close area. The wonton soup is good, the orange chicken has plenty of sauce, we love the spring rolls and crab ragoons. The shrimp fried rice is good too!! If I could have given zero stars I would have. We have been to Chinese Kitchen in the past and although their food has never been described as fantastic, it was passable if we were in the area. Last night my son was in Groton so we decided to place an order. We ordered Pork Fried Rice. It was very light in color and the pork was just chunks of fat. We were all shocked because that was the 1 item that we all agreed used to be the best. The Chicken Fingers were so well done that we had to BREAK off the outer batter only to find the chicken inside to be hard and crusty and that was just the pieces where there was chicken inside. The Chicken Chow Mein was so dry it was like eating hay. There was NO juice in it what so ever. The egg-rolls were passable but that is all. We also ordered shrimp fried rice which my wife took to work. She just called me to tell me that it was bland and greasy so they tossed it out and ordered takeout from another restaurant. The last item that we ordered were fried dumplings for my son which he refused to eat after tasting the other food. I called the restaurant last night to give them my feedback and they had already closed. I called them again today and spoke to the manager who claimed that she didn't work last night but was very apologetic. She offered me a 10% discount on my next order LOL. Like I am going to give them another shot because they are going to discount my next order by 10%? Way to stand behind your product Chinese Kitchen. The best Chinese food in the New London area. Definitely some of the best I've ever had. The service is excellent; it is amazing that even with a full restaurant, the staff is exceptionally attentive. Drinks are always full, the food arrives quickly, and I watched one young staff member run outside to give an elderly couple their forgotten leftovers. The food is INCREDIBLE. The tea kettle is so worth ordering, the soups are delicious, and our meals were delicious and served in very large portions. read more

Food is good, staff is meh, delivery is 45 minutes which is normal, the prices are as advertised maybe a drop more, and I have the wrong idea of what chow mein is supposed to be, because every time I order theirs, I get soupy vegetables, I thought it was with noodles, regardless I do get disappointed even if I judge the food as is. My personal favorite dish of their is their bbq ribs which in my opinion, you cannot find much other places that's better. Their Fried rice I have ordered on one occasion was odd and smelled of dry burnt charcoal while being tasteless which only happened once out of five or seven times, I was slightly miffed. Although their other everyday fried rice can use fresher rice (maybe I ordered at a bad day), what they add to the fried rice is pretty good though most of the time. They have plenty of parking space every time I came over, the interior of the building's cleanliness is okay. Their bar is a welcomed touch. Have had take out twice and the food was mediocre at best the first time. Recent order of fried dumplings was tasty but too much dough.....it seems most places have increased the size of their dumplings which makes for a disproportionate amount of dough. The Szechuan Chicken should have been called Szechuan Celery as the ratio was 80% celery to 20% chicken that was so overcooked it was dry. The dish was also tasteless and adding more soy was futile; it seemed like they put in a splash of hot sauce to make it Szechuan and celery was the ONLY veggie in the dish. We ate some and threw out most of it. Back story on this place was it had been recommended so the first time we tried it we went for dinner but left after 20 minutes without getting any service even though the place was half empty. Staff was extremely rude when we told them why we were leaving. Lesson learned! read more

My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for a good chinese food restaurant. We tried the chinese kitchen after reading the reviews. We were not happy. I placed the order over the internet and when my husband went to pick it up it wasnt ready, they hadnt even recieved the order even though I got an email confirming it.
