All in all I enjoyed my meal a lot. Kung Pao chicken, crab Rangoon and beef skewers. Was it the best kung pao ever? No, but it was far better than 90% of anny other places. Add a few more peanuts, a few more peppers and add mushrooms and it would be world-class. Dining in was comfortable enough. The service was fast and friendly. At this writing they had very limited hours and take out only. I understand that places are struggling, but in the same sense, you have to put out a consistent good product. I ordered 3 items -potstickers, egg roll and wonton soup. Potstickers were over cooked, very dark brown, puffed up so much that it made it look like there wasn't any filling. Egg roll was cooked dark brown too and it had a flavor that I could not distinguish. Lastly the wonton soup- although there were lots of vegetables-carrots, bamboo shoots, fresh sugar snap peas and wontons, which I enjoyed; the soup broth lacked flavor. Super friendly staff with interesting artwork on the walls. The boyfriend and I got takeout which included sweet and sour chicken, beef lo mein, and the dragons bird nest. The bird nest was delicious and highly recommended. Can't wait to try dine in once safe to do so. read more

This restaurant is the reason I fell in love with Chinese food. Their crab rangoons and sweet and sour sauce is probably the main reason I come back for more. Crab rangoons are the best I've found in the are, and Their sweet and sour sauce is PERFECT. I can't find anything like it anywhere else. This used to be a very good Chinese restaurant. Last visit our egg rolls were spoiled (sour). They apologized and offered to replace them next visit. This visit while removing the dinners from the bag I thought they gave us the wrong order. There was absolutely no weight to the quart size containers. Such, that I thought it was some type of small appetizer. Upon opening, it was our dinners, however the portion size was so incredibly small it barely covered the bottom of the container. (Less than half the size of any other Chinese restaurant.) I called but they only argued with me that it was the dinner size quart. Sorry, not even remotely close. And sorry to say I will not be returning to Chinese Delight ever again. I'm guessing they were upset about replacing the egg rolls and optioned to deduct the loss/cost from our dinner portions. read more

Picked up take out and it was the worst Chinese I have ever had, seriously. The food tasted horrible and the szechuan chicken had a odd smell. After I got home which is a short drive my wife noticed they didn't give us our egg rolls. I decided after tasting the food to not go back up and get them. They also overcharged for my meal calling it some other special which was bs from what the person on the phone said. I live about three minutes from here and will gladly drive past this next time I get Chinese. read more

This is, HANDS DOWN, the worst restaurant we have ever been to. The woman who I would assume is the owner, was cooking, serving, screaming at a male child in there whom she expected to be doing most of the work. The food was completely disgusting, to the point of being in edible. Chinese Delight used to be our go to Chinese restaurant in the HOWELL area. We loved their food, and the owners. Unfortunately, for some reason, in our family's opinion, their food has gone down hill. The last couple of times that we ordered from there, things didn't seem as great as they had in the past, so we have been going to a different chinese restaurant when we've gone. We thought we'd give it another try recently, and unfortunately, we were disappointed. We ordered almond chicken, and the sauce was disgusting. It had separated by the time we got home, and had way too much oil in it. I tried stirring it back together, but it just tasted oily. We also ordered sweet and sour chicken. The chicken itself tasted ok, but overall was pretty bland and just not that great. The egg rolls there used to be the best around, and I don't know what was wrong with them, but they tasted gross. Almost like there was bad cabbage in them, or old oil used, or something. We didn't eat them, they tasted so strange. The won ton soup, which again, used to be the best, was salty and the meat in the wontons tasted weird. The owners are still great, but I'm sad to say, we won't be going back again. read more

I've been here twice. I have been told it was the only good Chinese place in Howell. I gave 4 stars because it has been good both times, just not our favorite. I do really like the decor though. Very nice, clean, and updated inside! I also saw people drinking red wine there too, so I do know they serve some alcohol. And service was extremely fast! read more

Chinese Delight is the best chinese around. I always stop when I'm passing through Howell. It is a family run place that is very good at accomodating large groups. Try the flaming poo poo platter and honey walnut shrimp as an app. and get the chinese fish or lo mein for dinner. Things here are authentic and well made, not greasy with overpowering sauces. They also have a seasonal menu with many options featuring what is available locally and in season (right now is asparagus!) They have a selection of Japanese beer which is fun and festive. read more

I've been to this place several times over the last three years. My order has only been incorrect once, and every time it has been wonderful anyways. It is a small staff, with the owner acting as waitress, her son managing the phone for to-go orders, and their cook in the back. She's more than happy to make the food how you ask, for example if you want an item steamed instead of cooked in the wok, etc. I'm not sure where the negative reviews have come from, perhaps they visited on a very busy evening, or unfortunately ran into a mistake. I took my family here on Friday 11/1/2013 and can say that not only was this the worst Chinese food we have ever had, it was the worst restaurant we have been too. I think our waitress was also the cook. She would take the order and then run into the kitchen to microwave the food. I'm pretty sure the food was microwaved because our food had hot spots and others that were Ice cold. I also agree with some of the other reviews about odd smell of food. The egg drop tasted like cornstarch, the broccoli chicken was tasteless, and the sesame chicken was just weird and the chicken pieces were over fried and hard as rocks. I've been to a lot of Chinese restaurants from living in Chicago and Los Angeles. This restaurant was very impressive because everything was so fresh. The dishes that we received had great color since all were cooked fresh to order and cooked properly. I really don't know what these other reviewers are talking about. This place has better food than most restaurants in Chinatown. The service was very good for being a Friday night and nearly a full house. Its a family business and they made us feel very welcome. Yeck! Szechuan chicken and vegetables. For starters this place uses that weird Chinese meat. If you frequent a lot of Chinese places you'll know what I mean. Thai has 'real meat' but they were closed. Delights menu looked nice etc. Anyways, vegetables to me includes, broccoli, baby corn, pea pods etc. They only give you five slices of zucchini and the rest is bamboo shoots. SO disappointed. This is as good as it gets for Chinese food in Livingston County. Family owned and operated. Henry is a great guy who will make your experience here the best! Prices are good and quality is too. If you want to book a party, there's a private dining room upstairs that will comfortably seat up to 50 and Henry will customize a buffet for your gathering to your specifications. Quick service, hot hot from the kitchen hot food and low prices (5.95-6.95) for the soup, egg roll, rice plus predictable protein greeted this Yelper today in Howell, MI. Overall, just ok. The egg drop soup was not neon yellow and had flavor, if not a bit thin. The egg roll had tasty cabbage ant mystery meat filling, though were a tad bit tough for these choppers. The tea was quite good. My main protein "crispy szechuan chicken" appeared bubbling hot underneath a sweet/sour sauce with too much vinegar/sour. The friendly server cautioned about the spice levels. My medium spice level threw fire around in my mouth...no complaints here. Be careful to order low level or none at all if your taste buds cannot handle significant heat. Overall, it was a filling lunch...one that screamed out MSG Naptime shortly thereafter. It fit the bill for inexpensive and filling...nothing memorable. Doubt I will return read more

I was downtown for the Sleepy Howell Halloween event and decided to stop here for dinner before heading home. They had appetizer plates already set on the tables, both on my table had flecks of food on them from the dishwasher. I decided to let it go because of how busy they were and just had them taken away. Next I ordered soda, and was unpleasantly surprised to find out they do not offer refills, my glass was 80% ice. 10 minutes later they finally came back to take our order, offering an egg roll and soup for an additional fee, my spouse agreed to get it. 15 minutes after that he was brought his egg roll, truthfully it was one of the best I've tasted. 15 minutes later he was brought his wonton soup, it was also very good. We stayed for an additional 30 minutes after that waiting for our meals, during that time we were informed of the refill policy, my spouse requested water and was served a glass with unidentified debris in it. I informed the server who didn't know what to do about it, and we decided we were done wasting time as we had been there over an hour, the site was not clean, and the staff unfriendly. I paid for the little we had received, 1 egg roll, 1 wonton soup, and 2 drinks, to the amount of $11. I will not be going here again. read more

Service was not prompt at all. It looked like there was only one lady running the joint. Prices are a bit expensive, too, with limited options for the dinner combinations. Very stingy with the fried rice. They only gave us a small bowl between the two of us, which was rather bizarre. Egg rolls came first, then soup, and then the main dish. I got the Szechuan crispy chicken. It was not crispy. It was not spicy. It tasted like breaded chicken drenched in sweet and sour sauce with some red pepper flakes thrown in. The vegetables with it were rather odd, too. Peas & Carrots from one of the frozen bags you get at the store. No fresh veggies except in my Wonton soup. We were also the only 2 in the entire restaurant during the dinner "rush" or lack thereof and service was still slow...which was why I found it questionable in the first place. Atmosphere is rather tacky and depressing. No vibrant colors, just a few things taped to the walls. Not very inviting. I don't see how this is in business in downtown Howell given what little traffic they had when other restaurants were packed. The price we paid was not worth it at all.
