I had vague drunken memories of stumbling into a manga shop and finding a mini-Japan style Karaoke box...I must have been here quite a few times with different groups of Japanese friends. However I could never find it again when I was sober. *blushes* Karaoke Epoc is hidden at the back of Adanami Shobo (the Japanese Manga/ book shop on Brewer street.) If you have never been there before, it can be a teeny bit tricky to find...look out for a 'De-lux Cleaning' sign to find the shop. This is one of the least posh karaoke places in London. The decor is a little old/scabby looking...but it is also brilliant! I'll tell you why: - We booked the huuuge room downstairs, and had more than enough room for all 16 of us. There was even enough room for us to dance around the table as well!! - They have teeny 4-6 people rooms upstairs if you have a smaller group. - There was a fridge in the corner, so we brought drinks and kept them cool in there. - The remote control is like a mini computer...you can search by song title or by artist. Ask for help if you can't read Japanese. - There is a decent Japanese/Korean/Chinese selection of songs as well as all the old English favorites. Oooh and a whole page of disney songs!! (^^) - It is really cheap, especially if you go early and have a large group of singing friends. Last night I paid £11 for three hours. I'm not the only on that loves this place!! Make sure you book in advance as it is nearly always booked up.

I can't help myself…read more Terrible singer or not, I have to sing or I could veritably blow up. In the car, shower, much to my husband's dismay. So when I saw a karaoke place open until midnight, on a SUNDAY, I felt all was right in the world. Cool karaoke places get you excited to be in there, before you even get to the private rooms. Even without people (it is Sunday) I could see myself being a regular there. Then the bad news came: They were closing at 11pm for a service vendor to come in waaahhh! I was a bit sad but then in the same breath, the guy told us we could sing for 35 minutes.. FOR FREE. Totally awesome of him ^_^ Inside, the rooms were clean and modern. The controls are on the wall next to the screen and we found most of the music we liked to sing! There's a mirror in there so you can rate your air guitar/Tina Turner hair flip etc. The only star strike is because the music and the lyrics on the screen are a tiny bit off on almost all the songs. So close, Lucky Voice! But really, if you drink enough, does anybody care? :)

The black and pink theme is a total winner and In this branch they have a super cool and area with a dj and leather sofas, so it's perfect for a few drinks before you do karaoke. The cocktail menu is song themed, which is a cute idea! A particular favourite of mine is the Phil raspberry Collins which is stoli vodka with raspberries and soda.. Simple yet delicious! If you're going lucky voice the cocktails are quite pricey, so come for happy when it's 2-4-1. If you're doing karaoke, you get your own private room and you can order cocktails and food to the room. The song list is pretty extensive and I think if you're doing karaoke you could do a lot, lot worse than check this place out!

It's way better (read: more spacious) than the Soho location (which in all honestly I also love). Good song catalogue, fairly decent service (but expensive beer - oi!) and a swanky, comfortable bar/lounge area all add to the wonder that is a private karaoke experience. Great place for a Par-tay (great excuse for one too).

Abbotsbury Road is a little hidden road in Morden, where you'll find a few restaurants. My salsa friend Hilary and I gave Singing Buddha a whirl before our dance class a few weeks ago. I think we got there really early as the place was deserted. The owners told us that most people go later for a meal, then a good karaoke sing song. The food is served buffet style. I was impressed that they made a point of cooking us some special portions of some of the dishes which weren't ready yet. The selection was what you'd expect - some starters, including crispy aromatic duck, soup, main courses and rice/noodles. The quality was above average but I never usually find buffet style food top notch. The owners were very friendly and keen for us to have a go at the karaoke but it would have been a bit strange singing in an empty restaurant, so we declined. Perhaps with some karaoke atmosphere in the evening, it would turn into a 4 star experience but I can only give it a 3 for now.
