The War Wonton soup cures all ills, the clay pots are amazing and the potstickers are to-die for! For the amount of food and the quality, I believe the prices are 100% worth it. I've ordered chow fun from here 5 times and it's been pretty good 4 of 5 times. Ordered prawns with lobster sauce and paid $2.00 extra for broccoli. It was 1/5 stars. All the veggies: carrots, peas, water chestnuts were frozen. I hate water chestnuts. See the attached pic to see how half of the volume of this dish is frozen water chestnuts. Ordered a Chicken Wonton soup. I ate one of the wontons and the chicken was gross!! Like rotten chicken!! I had my kids eat some too and they spit it out! I opened a new wonton and I smelled it and it smelled HORRIBLE!! I took one last look into the soup and found a WORM!! OMG!!! I felt nauseous after. My kids got grossed out! I complained out loud and one of the guests heard and he stopped eating got up and walked out. I showed the ladies and they didnt even apologize!!! As I was walking out, they only offered to remake the soup i said HELL NO!!! I walked out! This has never happend to me. Love the chow fun with extra gravy, so it's not dry. The only thing I wish is that they made it EXTRA spicy . But that's okay, most places are afraid to go 5/5 spicy. Booo to all the bad reviews, usually written by people who never leave good reviews, only bad ones. I only found this place after my two favorite Chinese restaurants in downtown Mountain View closed. I'm happy that I did. I've tried several of their vegetarian options, but my favorite is their Tofu with Vegetarian Chicken & Mixed Vegetables in Clay Pot. It's the most comprehensive combo dish I've ever had with mixed vegetables, braised tofu and sliced mock chicken. It's easily two meals. The Mixed Vegetable Fried Rice is also really good. I can only vouch for the vegetarian options, but my meat eating friends all tell me that their seafood and chicken options are fantastic. read more

Generous portions and great variety of food - they have both "American Chinese" staples and more authentic Chinese entrees. The lady who answers is the phone is the restaurant owner, I think. She can come across as a bit gruff but is very efficient and so far has never messed up any of my orders. Tip: if there's a particular Chinese dish you're craving that doesn't appear on the menu, you can ask her if she can get the chefs to make it (for example, I recently asked for fried rice with egg whites, scallions and dried scallop and they made it for me even though it wasn't on the menu). No frills, decent Chinese food. Don't be deterred by the fact that the restaurant looks closed, with chairs piled up on the tables and lights off. Classic Chinese-American dishes made perfectly! Everything was incredibly tasty! 1) General Tso's chicken - crispy with a well balanced sweet, spicy, tangy sauce. The batter was light and the chicken remained crispy even after a car ride home. 2) broccoli beef - tender beef and super fresh broccoli. The addition of mushrooms and bamboo made it more interesting and the sauce was perfect. 3) vegetable chow mien - I love how this place takes its vegetables seriously. Every vegetable was great and crisp AND there was a variety: bok choy, bean sprouts, zucchini, and more! We got take out and everything was packaged nicely and the portions are very generous. I'm giving them 4 stars based on the food. Ambiance is very basic, not nearly as good as nearby Chef Chu's. As others have written, service is very slow as they are badly understaffed. I don't know if they are trying to save money or simply can't find people. The food is actually quite good and people were waiting for take-out orders today and were told that they were way behind at it would be 30-40 minutes and they these customers were willing to wait, so I would assume they were regulars who knew the food was good. The staff were working very hard but there simply were not enough of them. Prices are OK for the area. Good place for families, not a place for dates or celebrations. read more

Quick update: I think they hired someone new to work the register because the lady who has been there the last couple of times I've gone has been super friendly! (Yes, I kept going even though I gave it two stars, haha--it's down the street and massive portion sizes, so sometimes it's just the most convenient thing).
