I had the General Tsao's chicken and it was delicious with plenty of chicken and not too much crunch. The rangoon was also tasty. My SO had egg drop soup, which came with plenty of wonton crackers, and she thought it was very good. The big downside of both of our meals was the fried rice, which didn't have enough egg and had too much salt, sodium, msg and/or soy sauce (hard to tell what the culprit was). The small-town prices were a nice perk, even with a ~20% tip our bill was quite small.

This is my very first review of a restaurant in my hometown, and I wouldn't want to do any other…read moreplace. China Cafe has been in Eastland for as long as I can remember. I have seen this restaurant and staff been disrespected, taken advantage of, and mocked throughout the years because of the slight language and cultural barrier. Even with all of this going on for years, China Cafe continues to stand against it all and continue to provide amazing food to the community at an unbeatable price. China Cafe has a huge assortment of food that caters to anyone's tastebuds. They have amazing appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They have always been consistent and so caring for their customers. Even when you show up a couple minutes before they close, they are sure to cook up anything fresh if you are craving it. Tonight, they literally brought an entire new tray of banana pudding just for me. In high school, I always came every Friday with my friends for lunch; we always wanted to end our week on a high note and I can not imagine any other place better than China Cafe. Obviously, I can not rave about this place enough! It is so underrated, and as an Asian American myself, I am so impressed that China Cafe has not only survived but thrived with Asian Cuisine in a tiny Texas town regardless of the insistent and horrible discrimination and micro aggressions they face every day. Even though I have tried multiple other Chinese buffet restaurants around the country, nothing has ever beaten China Cafe. There is something about the food that makes it irresistible! Please give this place a chance, and you will not be disappointed!!

We were greeted and seated within a minute of walking in at 5pm. I'm not that familiar with this type of dining so I'm not knocking the restaurant for me not liking my dinner, it's just not my thing I guess. I'm giving 4 stars because they did not have Thai Iced Tea on hand for this evenings dinner guest, apparently the lady who makes it wasn't in today. My opinion, a Thai restaurant not having Thai Iced Tea is like a Mexican restaurant not having margaritas, a bit disappointing. We were the first dinner guest in the restaurant and our dinners were a bit of a wait (longer than usual) from order to service and that was ok as it gave us time to visit. Our drinks and appetizers were served fairly quick. Our waitress was very friendly and tried to help me decide on dinner by explaining a few options. The place was clean and inviting with ample seating and filled up quickly within the hour. I'm only picturing my dinner and I can't remember what it was. It had a strong after taste so I tried each individual piece to pinpoint what had that flavor. One of our friends said perhaps it's lemon grass but whatever it was caused me not to finish my dinner.

As soon as you walk in you place your food and drink order at the front counter, pay your bill, fill your cup with your choice of fountain drink and seat yourself. The place was clean, the staff were all friendly and the menu has several lunch and dinner options. As far as the dinner goes you can definitely split one meal with two people, it's a lot of food. My husband decided on General Tso's Chicken and I opted for the Sweet & Sour Chicken. He liked his meal and made the comment that there were only 3 or 4 broccoli florets so a little disappointment there but he still liked his choice. I was somewhat disappointed with the our first time experience. Our dinners were brought out to us in styrofoam boxes, plastic wear and no checking on us to see if everything was ok. My Sweet & Sour was anything but Sweet & Sour. Typically this is served with a mixture bell peppers, onions, carrots and pineapple and mine had absolutely none of these and did come with a container of sauce that was still missing something. The fried rice is typically served with peas, carrots or other selections mixed in with it. Mine had a sliver of an onion or two and that was it. Pictures are attached for your review.
