Went there today and ordered sesame, chicken and general so She said it was $21.24. I only had $23 on my card. I swipe it and she said it's declined. She pulled out the receipt and showed me that it said $24.24. I asked her to tell me the amount again and she said 21.24 and I said that's not what's on here. She said a it was an accident but I don't believe her. She never let me look at the machine when she was typing it in. All I'm saying is check your bank statements after going here they might try and pull a fast one read more

Been going here for 10 plus years. Few things to address. If you're looking for good ambiance, this place are NOT it.. it's not someplace great with decor and beautiful lightings. This place is definitely not romantic so don't take your date here. Don't expect good customer services either. However, this is what's excellent. Their food, it's consistent, the quality are the same. And they are efficient. When they tell you over the phone. It will be done in 10 minute. I bet my ass it's done when I get there. I'm addicted to quite a few things. Their white rice. They pre soak it. And made fresh EVERY COUPLE HOURS THE GRAVY for the egg foo young is like liquid crack. The bbq spare ribs have alway be grilled NOT fried. The shrimp sauce for the hibachi dish has a kick, I swear they trying to kick me since I don't do spicy. But it good and it works. The prices goes up like .10 every 3 years. It's still not a lot. But if you're dealing with a break up. And need to binge, you can order and come in to get it. No one will sees your eyes are swollen because they're that efficient and honestly I dont think they care. But you will find great comfort in the food and seek revenge. Or you just want Chinese that night. read more

Terrible food. Messed up our order. Fried rice was 90% onions. Ended up throwing half of it away. Will not return. Yuck!

Good food for a reasonable price. Fast, delicious, and generous portions. Have only done take out and would highly recommend. read more

Pretty good chinese food in the steele creek area. I wouldn't call the szechuan wontons authentic szechuan style wontons but they were decent. It's just wontons in a mild brown sauce. Food is decent just enough food portioned out. Quick service. Was done within minutes. read more

I've had this food at least twice before, no problems. This past Monday, I ordered sesame chicken with crab Rangoons & was throwing up all day since!! I had to go to the ER & was told I got food poisoning. Will not be eating here ever again !!! Please be aware before you order from here. read more

Extremely Americanized Chinese food, but that's perfectly cool. It's what we like! I ordered a spicy chicken, which comes with either pork fried rice or white rice and a spring roll. Well cooked but not very spicy, but still a lot of chicken in there and a lot of meat in the fried rice. A packet or two of hot mustard brought out the flavor and we were rocking along. They have a buffet table set up in the middle of the dining room. I have no idea when they have a buffet. They're located in the shopping plaza in the north west corner of Steele Creek and South Tryon, next to the Harris Teeter. read more

Definitely on the pricey side for the starters. Food was meh, nothing to really rave about. The crab Rangoon, they give you 5 pieces in which 3 were extremely hard and inedible. read more

Got some takeout, it was good for the most part, not a 5 star restaurant, but nonetheless it was overall a good place to eat, will be returning again. read more

The search for good Chinese food in Charlotte continues. Tried this place the other night and nothing special, just your average Chinese restaurant nothing fancy. They have a small hot food table where you can buy food by the pound. The place could use an update, some paint and new furniture. Didn't trust it so I stuck to the basics.....ordered veggie spring rolls and shrimp toast. Spring roll was ok, shrimp toast was ok but they were too small for the price. Wanted to try their fried rice until they told me that they put peas and carrots in there and no bean sprouts......in all fairness I should mention that my standards with Chinese food is very high. After growing up in NYC and eating authentic Chinese food in the real Chinatown it's hard to settle for mediocre places. I might go back and try their fried rice but that's a might! read more

China Town - Shrimp toast and veggie spring roll. Just ok. - Chinese Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

Chinatown is just a standard Chinese restaurant for me. It's small with a standard menu. The food was good. Not great, not horrible, just good. I ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken and the chicken was cooked well and was not soggy. It was a standard sweet-and-sour sauce, and it came with fried rice, which was quite tasty. The beef lo mein wasn't what I expected. There was a generous serving of beef, but it lacked a flavor that I usually associate with beef lo mein. I'm not sure what that flavor is, but because it was missing, I was a little let down by the dish. The crab wontons on the other hand. Were a complete disappointment. I don't think there was any crab in these crab Rangoon's. Instead it tasted like straight cream cheese, and instead of being folded in the little pockets they were just flat triangles. So I probably wouldn't order that again. For a quick takeout lunch during the workday, I may return to this location. But it would not be in the top of my regular restaurants. read more

Fake Chinese food. Chicken does not look like chicken and fried rice is nasty! How can you mess up fried rice?!?! The only thing that was decent was the egg roll. I definitely won't be returning back here read more

Beef and broccoli was perfection. Right amount of sauce. Wings were crispy and blazing hot!

Pleasantly surprised, 1st time at this restaurant. Wonton Soup - very good. Combination Platter: Barbecued Ribs - very good. I wiped off the barbecue sauce. The ribs were thick with meat, moist and delicious. Cooked just right (some places burn ribs). Egg Roll - very good. The Pork Fried Rice - very good. read more

Take out was ready fast. Said didn't have time to steam half and fry half of dumpling order. Vegetable lo-mein had a funny taste to it. I think it was the broccoli. It looked bad. If you want a once a week take out place this isn't it. I mean, even I would have a tough time messing up vegetable lo-mein. Egg rolls were good 6/10. read more

Everything you would expect on their menu. I walked in and ordered takeout. I was able to place my order and it was ready within in a few minutes. Kung pao chicken with white rice. I had asked what veggies come with the chicken--celery, chestnuts, peppers, carrots, peanuts--missing what I wanted most; mushrooms. :( The flavor was lacking any heat. I added Sriracha to give it the kick I was looking for. Rice was good, place white rice. Sticky as you would expect. I noted the health grade was a 95 A. I would maybe return if craving takeout Chinese but would definitely ask them to kick it up about 2 notches I the heat. read more

China Town - Everything you would expect at a carry out, buffet Chinese Restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

We were originally going to cook Friday night, but it got late by the time we were heading home, so I decided to pick up some food from China Town on the way. I went in and there were two people actually eating at the restaurant, the rest were in line or waiting for their take out. It seems like that is the thing there as the phone was constantly ringing for more orders. They had a buffet, but I'm not sure when it is set up as it was not during the time I went, which shocks me with it being a Friday night. I ordered my normal, you got it, sesame chicken. Also ordered beef and broccoli. With the number of people waiting and the calls coming in, the order was ready in 5 minutes. That's great, but should that be questionable??? Maybe the whole Americanized Chinese part. Both entrees were good and I like that they had a little extra sauce for putting on rice. They also made for good leftovers - not dried out! I would go back here for convenience, but I still have some other Chinese places that I just like a lot more, so I will reserve those for the 4 and 5 stars. read more

First I like to point out that ChinaTown is a "Chinese Buffett". Though they have a menu, most people come here for the unlimited food. It is rather quiet. Usually, these places are, but as a tip to the management, silence in a restaurant equals awkward silence. Food Buffet Review: - The Crab Rangoon's are A-OK, good fry, but not much crab meat, might as well call it a Cream Cheese Rangoon. - Egg Rolls are alright, nothing too special, average. - Fried Rice, unfortunately, is underwhelming. Usually, that is my draw to Chinese restaurants, but this taste like standard minute-rice with soy sauce. - Chicken Fingers were one of the better items here, fry was perfect, the chicken itself was tender, much better than their Orange Chicken. - I would stay clear of the veggies, most are drowning in sauce/water and soggy. Overall, not a place to go often. if you're in the mood for Chinese Buffett, a quick *cheap* bite for lunch is worth it. read more

Asked for fried rice without shrimp but shrimp was added any way. Ordered ribs but I don't now what they put in there. I won't visit again.

Not the best Chinese restaurant but not the worst either. The food is decent but could be better if the food was better prepared and the buffet has a better selection. The only good part is that it isn't very expensive at all. read more

Take out Chinese food on the cheap! How can you go wrong? This place is good, clean and consistent - as I'm a regular they can even remember what I order when I call in. The Horror...The Horror. I have had some bad Chinese food in the past, but this place takes the cake. The 90 sanitation rating should have acted as a warning, but I felt adventurous. The hot sour soup tasted like it was made with bleach. The chicken wings were not chicken, but some kind of amphibian. The low mien was swimming in 30 weight motor oil. The cat and broccoli was tasteless and the egg rolls were literally eggs that were rolled around in kitty litter. Their masterpiece was what they were trying to pass off as Chicken Sesame. I swear I found a beak in it. Not a sesame seed in sight. The sauce was amalgam kerosene and fish heads that burned my eyes. The diet Coke was OK. Avoid this place like the plague (which I think I may have contracted). read more

I had a harrowing experience today at China Town Chinese restaurant near Harris teeter in Steele Creek. Last night we ordered take out, and when we opened the bag at home I noticed a huge amount of thick black grease all inside the wanton soup container. It was disgusting. I figured it was an innocent mistake so I decided to take it back there today and ask for a refund. Well, I never expected the treatment I got when I walked in with the soup. The workers all gathered around & began shaking their heads denying that it came from their place, even though I gave them the receipt. They kept saying "this didn't come from us" and "we didn't do that!" They never apologized, but in the end I got the refund. It killed them to give it to me. All I can say is never again. read more

Despite no reviews we stopped at China Town as we were passing by for lunch. The buffet lunch is $6.29 and it was fresh and warm (not hot). All the buffet food was tasty and we went back for seconds. I have really tried 2x now to love this place. It just isn't that good compared to other restaurants around. :(

I do not know why some ppl give this less than star. I've been in Charlotte for almost 2 years and haven't found a place with better food or pricing than here. Yes... you have to order take out unless you want to pay a delivery service from a local pick up carrier, but food is always HOT, orders are always correct, and the staff is always friendly and appreciative of your business.
